PC Suite doesn't even come into the equation here.
Connect the phone in data storage mode. It will appear in your "My Computer" as an external drive.
Enable the display of hidden and system files so that everything gets copied and just drag/drop stuff over from one place to the other using the explorer.
(Note that I can't provide more detailed help than that since I don't actually use Windows on my own PCs)

  • Nokia 5800 memory card data loss

    Hello Everyone,
I've had one frustrating experience with my phone and it continues to annoy me. Since the past 6 months that i'm using my nokia 5800, one problem reoccurs frequently. Data on my memory card gets deleted by itself every now and then. I lose videos, music and images primarily every time.
The only option remaining then is to run a data recovery software on my memory card to restore to the lost data. This has happened 5 times in last 6 months and I have no clue why. I have seen many other complaining of the same problem in this forum but there's no solution. I hope to find on in this thread.
For your knowledge, i'm using 8gb micro sd that came with the phone and i'm already on FW ver 40.X which is the latest.
    List of Nokia phones I've used: 3310, 3315, 3200, 6600,3250, N73 ME, N95 8GB, 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia X6 16 GB (currently using this).

I have the same problem on my Nokia 5800 XM v50. It happens since i use it last August when it was v30. I am using the original 8GB microSD card.
Glad that the loss files are always mp3s or mp4 that I copied from computer to the memory card. I didn't loss any photos or videos taken with the phone camera.
Another problem is that sometimes I cannot startup phone with the memory card plugged.  It just shows the Nokia shaking hands and then white screen forever. I have to take out the battery or press the power button for more than 8sec to trun it off.
Sometimes I am able to start the phone by remove battery several times. BUT NOT TODAY. It can start if I take out the memory card before I press power button. After it is loaded into the home screen, if I insert the memory card, it HANGS.
I have been a Nokia user for 10yrs. And I always have faith on Nokia phones even when there were a lots of bugs on 5800 v30. BUT today i am really frustrated ....
    My phones: Nokia 5130, 3210, 3310, 6510, 6108, 6230, 3250, (Windows Mobile), 5800XM, N8 + Booklet 3G.
    bye Nokia...

  • Encrypt memory card data

How can I encrypt files on memory card so if phone is stolen data can't be read?
Using  device encryption is useless, I think. Is password encription the only way?
    Many thank, Bye Tom

The process varies according to your OS release on the device, but check Options > Security > General Settings and set your password and see what options you have there. You should find one for encryption to include the media card.

  • Transferring memory card pictures to mac computer

I am trying to take my pictures from my memory card and put them to  my mac desktop but can't figure out how.  When I put the memory card into the slot on the front of my HP Officejet 6500A Plus they pop up on the screen panel on the printer but how do I store them to my computer.  Thanks in advance for your help!

You can buy an adapter ( Walmart, Verizon, Target)  and put your SD card in it, then put the adapter in your PC. The pictures are on the SD (memory) card. Make sure you *** UNMOUNT ***  the SD card BEFORE you take it out. If you don't do this , it could result in you losing all your pictures.... it happened to me.
After you insert the adapter in the PC, go to START, then Computer, then click on SD card ( if it's not there , give it a minute) .  After you click on the SD card on the PC then click on DCIM  then Pana... this last sentence is how it is on my PC , it might be different on yours.
The adapter also comes with a SD (memory) card. There are different sizes. 1G 5G  etc....   Good Luck.... !

  • Transfering SIM Card data to new phone?

    Hi,
I was wondering if my SIM card holds all my addressbook data? I have just purchased a 6085 and want to transfer the data from my 6061 to my new phone. Will it all be in my SIM card or do I have to re-enter the contents of my old phone data manually to my new one?
    Thanks!

The 6061 doesn't appear to have any connectivity with the outside. No connection to a computer, no bluetooth etc.
The only way you have of saving yourself any time is to copy your contacts to the SIM card if they're not already there. You can find the commands to do all of this in the "Contacts" menu.
This also assumes that there's enough room on the SIM for all of your numbers. Most SIMs are limited to 200 or 250 numbers, and if you have contacts with multiple numbers (home, mobile, work etc.) they will use up as many slots as there are numbers for those contacts.
Once everything is copied to your SIM, you can insert that SIM into the new phone and most of your data will be accessible. I say "most" because details other than straightforward phone numbers will not have been transferred since the mechanisms on a SIM cannot store them.

  • N79 - change memory card from 4 to 8gb

my n79 came with a 4gb card with some Ngage demos already on it. I also installed Garmin on it.I want to change to a 8gb card so I backup everything from my 4gb card into my pc and restore it in the new 8gb card.
Everything works but Ngage demos cannot be install or play. And Garmin is missing. How do I transfer all these to the new card?
Should I also format the card with my phone even when its already formatted by the manufacturer?
    Thanks in advance

  • Why was it made possible that our Android phones can and will erase everything including our personal SD memory card data when the unlock screen thinks that 10 attempts were tried to unlock it?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • N95 16 GB micro sdhc memory card

Hiya, Can I use the 16GB memory card in my N95??. The Nokia site shows I can uses the 8GB but the N95 is not listed for the 16GB. Also, What does the hc bit mean as all the memory cards before the 8GB only say sd and after they say sdhc
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The N95 should work with a 16GB card. The N82 and a few other do. As long as the card is of a well-known brand and bought from a reputable store, you shouldn't have any problems.
The "HC" bit stands for "Hich Capacity". All microSD cards of 4GB and greater are SDHC cards.
    Read here for more information.

  • N95 with more ca[acity memory cards?

Iam a user of N95-1 which after the new firmware V.20 is better but still has some bugs in the keypad sometimes, but with a good general performance including battery life. I need more space, all of us who experience the satisfaction of having complete movies and over 200 songs with a 2GB card know the feeling..so would new memory cards of 4 or 8GB cards make the phone work properly or would it be slow or make it crash?
Should I move on to N95 8GB or not? What would you do?

    Hi panpara6
After filling a 6Gb microSDHC on N95-1, I was able to transfer it straight across to a N82 which saved a lot of hassle.

  • N81 8GB can there be another memory card working w...

....................................................i wanna know becuz i wanna buy a n81 8GB and thinking of putting another memory card? Is the 8GB hard drive or a memory card. And is there any Wi-Fi?And is the screen bigger than N72? And one of my friends is saying that there is a problem with the buttons(the numbers) like they are messed up and when he puts it in his pocket the button get pressed.
    Nokia N72

the 8gig is internal memory (hard drive) and you don't have a slot for another memory card...only the new n96 has that accessibilty and it has 16 gig internal hard drive...the screen is quite big...and the keys are not a problem 4 me....

Taking out an N95-2 as an upgrade for contract renewal when you already have an N95-1 is not something I'd do, personally. You may have different criteria but this is how I see it at least.
The -2 has 128MB of system memory and can therefore run more applications and process more complex web pages etc. That's a good point in the phone's favour.
However, that's about all it offers more than the N95-1. It has the same camera (which no longer has a lens cover here), the GPS is the same... OK, it has 8GB of on-board memory. You can get that by stuffing a £30 memory card in the N95-2's slot. The N95-1 has 2 considerable advantages over the N95-2 in this area: 1) if the phone has a problem linked to the mass memory you can remove the card from the -1 and format it in a card reader using your desktop computer (you can't remove the mass memory of the -2). 2) When larger capacity cards become avaiilable, as they will soon, you'll be able to have an N95 with 12GB or 16GB of mass storage while with the -2 you're stuck at 8GB.
OK, the screen of the -2 is bigger than that of the -1 by 0.2" so it's better for video and viewing photos full-screen.
On balance, I don't think the N95-2 offers enough "plus" over the N95-1 to entice me to renew a contract to get one.
    But that's just me...

  • E-1 restoring sms saved in memory card by backup f...

    Dear Sir,
yesterday at 4 pm i put my phone on silent mode and when i again had a look at it at 6 pm all my sms stored in Inbox, sent items, folders and drafts were missing.
they were all stored in memory card and NOT n phone memory.
memory card is working fine, infact all other files, pictures, music etc is there, just sms/emails are missing.
i tried restoring with backup files, now everythng can be restored but not my sms saved in the memory card.
i had a closer look and found, when i do the backup, i do it for "user files from memory card" but when i restore it, memory card data isnt restored.
please tell me the way to restore the memory card data
    its really very important sir
    Regards,
    Gaurav daga

    Hi Gaurav,
Have you already solved this? I am also facing the same problem and am looking for a solution! If you have already solved this, I'd appreciate if you can post it here. Thanks.
However, my phone is not the E series though, it is the N97 mini.
My messages stored in the memory card were gone after my battery went flat and when I restarted the phone, messages were stored in the phone memory. I've tried changing the storage location back to memory card but the messages are still lost! Like you, my messages are very important! I am also desperately looking for a solution to restore my messages.
    Regards,
    Sharon

  • X2-01 Memory Card PASSWORD

I have been using a Nokia X2-01 for 3 months and yesterday I've reset the phone to factory settings with the memory card removed. After the reset I've inserted the memory card but it shows a lock sign and requires password to access or format. It doesn't even show how much memory is used or free. TOTAL ACCESS DENIED. All it wants a password. But I've never given any password to the memory card and it never asked for before. The memory card came along with the phone and the packet holding the memory card was completely sealed, too. I've bought the phone from a genuine Nokia Store.
Now how could I retrieve/remove/reset the memory card password?

    Hi,
    We have  FAQ for this:
What can I do when I forget the password of my memory card ?
This is unfortunate situation. But if you keep using it in the device where the password was set, the password is not required to access to the memory card. However, it is required in the following situations:
Try to remove the memory card password
Insert the memory card to another device
After a hard reset of the device (for example by typing *#7370# in your device)
After the device software update with PC using Nokia Software Updater
When you forget the password but still want to use the memory card, try formatting it in your device. But after formatting, all data on the memory card is erased. Sometimes the password may be asked before formatting, then try to format it in PC.
Important notice! Write down your password and keep it in a safe place and backup your memory card data regularly.
