Transfering music from audio cd to itunes

I am only able to transfer some tracks from my audio cd's to itunes. In most cases itunes only recognizes the names of the tracks but does not do full transfer of the music, while from some cd's the trasfer works fine. Any ideas?
Thanks Marxit

No ideas unless you give us more information on what is going on. You put in the CD and you then get all the track information? Are all the tracks checked? If so, when you hit import what happens? Errors, skips some songs and imports others? etc.

I second the whole iTunes folder approach.
If for some reason you have split the media folder from the library files then the media folder needs to restored to the same path it used to have while the library files can be copied into the music folder of your new profile.
If in dobut, backup up the entire Documents and Settings folder before wiping the infected drive, but be selective about what you restore as many viruses drop active components capable of reinfecting the compuer in the temp folders and internet caches. It is much easier to backup more than you need than to discover after the fact that you no longer have access to some vital project you'd been storing in a folder on the desktop.

  • Transferring music from my ipod to itunes

My computer crashed and I lost all of my music. I've been trying to figure out how to transfer music from my IPod to ITunes. Any suggestions?

" I also want to add the music that was already in my ipod"
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod to iTunes.

  • Transfering music from media player to itunes

I am having trouble transfering music playlists from my media player to itunes. I have tried the 'add a folder' and 'add a file' options and when I click it nothing happens. I have also tried moving the playlists to different files and tryig to add the folder and files and have also been unsuccessful. I have also tried to 'open playlist in itunes' but still does not transfer. It rips CDs ok but can't find a way to transfer music.

Have you tried creating a fresh media library in iTunes or re-installing iTunes? MP3's should not be a problem at all as you might suspect using a "MP3 player"

  • Transferring music from ipod/iphone to itunes

I recently had to replace my old hard drive.  I have a new one, but when I try to sync my ipod/iphone, it tells me I can't because it's synced with the old one.  How can I transfer my music/pics etc from my ipod/iphone to itunes on my new hard drive?

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Transferring music from ipod shuffle to itunes library

Our computer crashed and we want to retrieve our music by transferring it from our ipod shuffle. It only transferred 5 of the songs out of 200+???
Please advise if you know how to do this or if it is even possible. I already authorized this pc to be able to use the existing itunes account.

You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the songs files are on your computer's drive, add them to your iTunes library.

how do you transfer music from windows media player to itunes??

    heya!
I believe there that WMP files are compatible with itunes. i know that when i first loaded itunes on to my laptop, it asked if i wanted it to search for all the music on my computer. i clicked yes and it found all of my WMP files and converted them into AAC format.
also, you can click and drag your WMP files into itunes and it should automatically change their format.
    hope this helps

  • Transfering music from an itouch to itunes on a PC?

I've been trying to transfer music from my itouch on to my itunes on my computer, but with no such luck. I have an already existing library on itunes which is backed-up, but no back-up for the music on my itouch. When trying to get the music off my itouch on to the computer, my computer can't even see the music files only photos and the only option itunes gives me is to sync (thus deleting the current music on itouch) the music library already existing.

  • Transfering music from iPod to computer (Itunes)

    Hi,
My computer have crashed. I have now replaced the broken harddisc and installed SW. I only have my music in my iPod now. How do I trigger a transfer from my iPod to iTunes, it doesn't happen by it self when the iPod is connected and listed in iTunes?
I currently got music and filmes in the iPod. And I do not want to loose any of it, just get it copied over to iTunes.

  • Transferring music from the iPod to iTunes

I had been using a friend's computer for my iTunes because I did not have one of my own at the time. I put all of my music and bought all of my music onto that computer, and then sync'd it onto my iPod. Now I have my own computer and want to be able to transfer my music from my iPod to my iTunes library so that I can play the music from my computer as well. Is this possible? If so, how?

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    TuneJack Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your OWN computer and a different iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to computer/iTunes

    hi there,
my computer recently caught a virus and had to be rebooted meaning everything was removed from it. I had to reinstall iTunes but all my music was gone. I still have my music on my iphone but I don't want to download anymore incase it deletes what I have remaining on my phone. Is there anything I can do to put all of my music back onto itunes without having to download it all again?
    thankyou

The user tip should help you extract everything that is on the iPhone and listed in the Music app, whether it came from the iTunes Store or not.
It is usually possible to remove viruses from computers without going nuclear on the hard drive. Unless the user data has been encrypted the hard drive can be attached to another uninfected computer and all user data copied off to safe storage. Keeping a backup of your data makes even that effort unnecessary.
