Transfering music from iphone to Macbook

My old macs hardrive crashed but i had all my music on there so i need to get it back onto my computer. I still have the music on my iphone though, so is there an application that will help me do this? I've been looking for a while but i cant find one. I need one thats free, supports latest iphone OS, and supports mountain lion. Thanks!

Why not just sync your iPhone with iTunes on your computer (assuming it now has a working hard disk)? You can also sync it with another computer using iTunes, even temporarily just to have a backup. iTunes can handle multiple devices, if you're using someone else's computer meanwhile.
iTunes is your best bet for sync and backup of your iPhone.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook Pro

I  just bought a new macbook pro and went to transfer my music from my iPhone to the new iTunes, and only half transferred. The other half are in the iTunes music section but are not highlighted. Help?

The iphone is not a backup device.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook

I have recently downloaded some new albums on my iPhone, however when I tried to transfer them to my MacBook there was a problem with my internet connection and as a result a majority of the songs haven't transferred. At the moment all of the songs that haven't transferred are light grey with an exclamation point in a circle to the left of the song name and they cannot be played on my Mac. I have tried syncing my iPhone again but I can't get them to transfer properly, any advice on how to sort this out?

iTunes will sync the contacts back for you.
If you right-click in your iPhone in iTunes, there should be a "Transfer Purchases" option. That will copy anything you got from the iTunes Store from your iPhone back to your Mac.
You can buy a program called senuti to copy music you didnt buy from the iTunes Store back to your Mac.
iPhoto or Image Capture will pull any photos in your Camera Roll, but I dont know about getting pictures you synced back. Im sure theres an app for that. Just remember that iTunes downsized them before it copied them, so they wont be the same quality as orig.
Oh, and go spend 75 for an external hdd and setup Time Machinr to automatically back your Mac up so youre never in this spot again.

  • Transferring music from iphone to pc

Purchased/Downloaded music from itunes to iphone - how can I sync / upload music to PC to back up?

    PaulCB
Saw your post about transferring music from iPhone. I guess I am a total dweeb; I cannot understand Apple's instructions.
I have two identical PCs. Have same version of iTunes on each. iPhone 3GS with 4.01 OS. I cannot figure out how to transfer the 5400 songs on my iPhone into my iTunes library without erasing the 2500 songs (different titles which came from a Dead Dell) that are already there. Any advice would be super appreciated.

  • Transferring music from Iphone to a new installed Itunes library

I have recently had my lap top repaired and my Itunes has had to be erased, I have reinstalled Itunes and my Itunis es music library is now empty and I did not make a back up, is there anyway I can transfer all the music from Iphone back in to my music library if  I sync it with Itunes library it is going to wipe all the music on my phone, thanks

iTunes includes an option to import iTunes content from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File > Import Purchases From > the name of your iPhone.

  • How to transfer music from iPhone to macbook pro using Yosemite

    Hello,
I am wanting to transfer all of my music and playlists (including music downloaded from internet) from my iPhone 5 (iOS 8.1.1) to my macbook pro which is using Yosemite (10.10.1) How would I do this?
    Thanks!

Syncing will only transfer music purchased from the iTunes store to your computer.  Music from other sources can only be transfered from your phone to your computer using 3rd party software such as PhoneView (Mac) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac).

  • Transfering music from iphone 4 to an iphone 5 help

I recently upgraded my iphone 4 to an iphone 5. I tried to transfer my music to the new phone from itunes and my music will not transfer. What can i do to fix this issue.

    Hi Lav122,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first thing I would suggest is to transfer your purchases from the iPhone 4 to your computer.
Your post doesn't indicate what type of computer you have, but here is the basic information:
iTunes 10 for Windows: Transfer purchases from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to an authorized computer
Next, I would suggest backing up your iPhone 4 to iCloud or iTunes and restore your new iPhone with that backup.
The article below will show you how.

I hope this information helps ....

  • Transferring music from iphone to new iphone

So, say I'm West Coast guy and in the East Coast visiting family. Had a iPhone 5s and just got a new iPhone 6. Figured I could backup my iPhone 5s on brother's iMac and then restore it to the new iPhone 6. Most of it went OK, except I've got some of his apps and a few other things - but I did not get any of my music over to the new iPhone 6. Most all my music was imported into my iTunes from CDs and then onto my iPhone 5s.
Question: any way to get my music back onto the new iPhone 6, or will I have to resynch when I get home?
Is there a better/cleaner way to transfer settings/content from one iPhone to another new one, other than backup and restore from iTunes?
    Thanks!

  • Transferring music from Iphone to Computer problems

I am really not sure where to ask this.
I am transferring my music from my iphone to my computer because it seems a lot of my songs on my computer have disappeared over the last few years. There is a folder for the band, but the music is all gone. My phone has all of it. So to make it easy I got Sharepod to transfer the music. It has fixed some of the problem, but there is still about 4 gigs of music on my phone, that does not transfer over. I know that sharepod could be the problem (even tho I don't know how the music disappeared in the first place). Does anyone have any kind of answers, or a better method to transfer my music. My backup hdd recently failed so the iphone is my only option.
I am truely sorry for asking here, but I am running out of places to ask.
Ty for any help in advance.

Music should never disappear from an iTunes library unless you are having HDD problems. So I would start by resolving that problem.
Was the music all downloaded from iTunes, or does it come from multiple sources? If it is all iTunes you can restore it to your computer by connecting the phone and choosing "Transfer purchases" from the iTunes File menu. If it is from multiple sources then you need an iPhone file browser. I am not familiar with Sharepod, so I don't know if it is the problem or not. I have heard good things about TouchCopy.

  • Import music from iPhone to Macbook after operating system reinstall

My Macbook Pro recently crashed and I had to reinstall the operating system. I lost all the music in itunes that I had ripped from cds. However all the music is still on my iphone. Why can't I just import all the music from my iphone back to itunes on my Macbook ?
Using Lion OSX and Iphone 3gs. Haven't updated to os 5 as it says it will wipe all music from my iphone.

You need a third-party utility program to transfer from your iPhone to your Mac.  Here are a couple:

can anybody help? i'm trying to transfer all my music from my iphone to my computer after it has been wiped. i have installed a new itunes and synced my iphone to my computer but i can't find any of my music can anyboby help me ???

I looked at Touchcopy. but I don't want to spend money on something that I feel should be built into the OS.
    Penny wise and pound foolish.
boggles my mind that I can't simply transfer MY files from MY phone and MY PC. /END RANT
Boggles my mind that people don't have a backup and then on top of that, they place blame everywhere but themselves when it comes back to bite them.
$25 so I can have access to MY files is just stupid.
If I have data on two sources (phone and PC), why should I need a 3rd source for backup? There is NO reason why my phone can't act as a backup for PC and vice versa. The old iPods could do this. My old Android phone could do this!
I backup all my important work and personal files, but having 12 gigs of music saved on 3 different sources (plus the CD originals) is just unnecessary.
Please don't make excuses for Apple not supporting this.
But how about going back to solving the problem... is there freeware available or a workaround so that I and the original poster can copy music from phone to PC???
Thanks to those who are trying to help.

  • Transferring Music from iPhone to new computer

    Hello,
The computer I normally sync with iTunes has crashed suddenly with an I/O error on the hard disk.  This has left the computer completely useless and now I am trying to manage the music on my iPhone with my work laptop, (Windows PC) but I am only able to transfer my purcahsed songs from iTunes off my phone to the work laptop music library, and I can't sync without losing all my other content on the iPhone that is in my original library on the crashed laptop.
With my original computer out of commission there must be some way of creating a new library on my second computer and managing my music from the iPhone.  My only copy of the music files is on the iPhone.  How do I move these to the new laptop?

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That might switch the assocation of the device to the new machine but I couldn't say for sure.
