Transfering music from ipod onto computer

I recently shared some music with a friend by putting it on my ipod from their itunes on their computer but i can't take it from my ipod and drag it into my library. is there any other way that i can do this?

Hello Rachel, and welcome aboard.
The simplest way of doing what you're asking for is to ask your friend to burn your choice of music on a CD and import it into your own iTunes.

My computer have crashed. I have now replaced the broken harddisc and installed SW. I only have my music in my iPod now. How do I trigger a transfer from my iPod to iTunes, it doesn't happen by it self when the iPod is connected and listed in iTunes?
I currently got music and filmes in the iPod. And I do not want to loose any of it, just get it copied over to iTunes.

Transferring music from Ipod to computer but I'm missing a LOT of songs

My uncle has an Ipod classic and it's pretty old. He got it when Ipods first came out and I think it's about eight years old but he doesn't use it that much and it still works. I'm trying to transfer the songs off the Ipod to the computer. This isn't the problem, everything looks fine--I plugged it in, checked show hidden folders/files, went to Ipod control and into the music folder where there are folders labeled F00, F01, etc...I've done this many times with other Ipods. The problem with this one is that once you copy and paste all the music from the F00-F49 folders into a new folder, there are only around 420 songs. He has almost 4700 on his Ipod. But they're simply not showing up on the computer. If I go to Itunes, the Ipod shows up and it says he's using 15.5 GB which is correct for an Ipod with 4700 songs. But...I just can't find the songs anywhere. Any ideas?

Hello Steve, CS6 Web Design was installed on a new computer with Windows 8 Pro operating system that CS3 was never installed on. My old computer with operating system XP Pro had CS3 installed. In CS6 I'm missing all of the Genuine fonts, Myriad Pro light, the Helvetica fonts to name a few that come to mind but there more missing in CS6 that were in CS3, and when I pull up old art for a new project it of course wants to use substitute fonts.

I realise there are a lot of posts regarding this subject but I am still somewhat confused by all the advice!
I have recently re-installed the ipod software as it was deleted from my pc.
I need to get my songs from my ipod back onto my computer. I took someone's advice and went into preferences and ticked the manually manage songs box but my ipod flashed 'do not disconnect' for ages after that I ended up ejecting the ipod as I was worried I would lose all my songs.
Was it normal for it do flash for so long after saving the new settings?
Can anyone help with a simple way of uploading all my songs as I am not particularly computer literate and I am terrified if I try something I will lose all the songs as I have done once before.
Any help will be extremely appreciated!

When your iPod is set to "manually manage songs and playlists" it si perfectly normal for the do not disconnect message to stay visible until you manually eject it: Safely Disconnect IPod

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something simpler and more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

Transferring Purchases From iPod Onto Computer

I am trying to transfer all of my recent purchases on my iPod Touch onto my laptop, but it only transfers a few of the recent purchases not all of them. I am trying to transfer them all so I can update the software on my iPod without losing anything. When I try to click "Sync All Music" in my iTunes library, it says it will erase all the songs on my iPod and replace them with the songs in my library, but since I'm missing a bunch from my library because they won't transfer I don't want to do that. Please tell me how I can fix this.

Oops, I just found the "Transfer Purchases" option by right clicking on the "Purchased" playlist on my iPod. Nevermind.

Depending on which utility you use (there are even more than the two I mentioned), you can regain the playlists as they are on your iPod.
You will get the full song back. If they are MP3 or AAC, all information stored in the tags is preserved, because the actual music file holds that data.
Some information, like playcounts, ratings and last play date, is stored in the 'iTunes Library' file (in ~/Users/yourusername/Music/iTunes) and is lost.

i having a stress attack, whilst trying to convert all of my songs in my library to mp3 i accidentally hit the delete key and deleted every song from my library, i tried to copy them from the rubbish bin but every song appears with an error because it cant find where it originally came from... is it possible to download all the songs from my ipod back into my library?

i just got a new computer, and before i got my new computer my old one got messed up and i lost all my files. So is there a way that i can take the contents of my ipod and just transfer them to my new computer so that i may continue to add new stuff to it?

How do i transfer photos and music from ipod to computer?

a couple of weeks ago my computer crashed and i lost everything, i don't know how to put the music and photos that are on my ipod back onto my computer, can anyone help me? i am especially bothered about the photos, as they are the only copy of them that i have (the other copy was on my computer) and they are quite sentimental, i really don't want to lose them! I have seen other people say to plug in the ipod, go to my computer and unhide the music and photos, i think i have found the music but it's all under weird names and my computer won't let me open it. With the photos, all that i can find is two folders called 'photo database' and 'thumbs', but again, i can't open them, i just get a message up saying 'windows cannot open this file' and 'windows needs to know where this file was made before it can open it.' if anybody can help me then it would be much appriciated, i really don't want to lose my stuff. many thanks in advance x

7 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ (click on the ‘+’) and select the iPod
8 - Click OK
9 - The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes
9a –- This will take some time depending on your PC and the amount of songs on the iPod
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method.
If you have problems with seeing the iPod within 'My Computer', try switching your update method to 'manual' , detach the iPod, then reconnect the iPod to the PC.
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

Moving Music FROM iPod to Computer...

My computer crashed, dammit. Fortunately, had my music backed up on my iPod.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like iTunes wants to allow me move it onto my new computer. Is this some crazy iTunes security feature, or am I doing something wrong?? Any workarounds??? Aargh!!!!

Hello, I'm quite new to iPod.
I was wondering, can I transfer music from my iPod back to my iTunes?
