Transfering music in icloud with playlists

I was able to put my music on all my devices but they did not appear in playlists or folders. Do I have to reorganize my entire library for every device?

This also applies to your situation: Make and keep a backup of your iTunes library, and only stream from the cloud.

  • Transferring Music Between Computers With Ipod (Very Unique Situation)

My Ipod has about 300+ songs on it that aren't on my old desktop (Windows)and I would like to know if I can get those 300 songs off the Ipod and onto my new MacBook Pro. I looked at the tutorial for how to do this and I saw two problems I would need to address. The first is the guide says something about not being able to move the files from a PC to a Mac and the second is it talks about updating the files on the ipod which I can't do since the files I want to find aren't on there. Can I move these files without updating the Ipod? Oh and by the way I moved all the other files over to the MacBook.

There's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are also a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check the others out and choose whichever you are happy with.

There is also a new function in iTunes 7 under File, "Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting to your MacBook and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod will appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Purchased Music Syncing issue with Playlists

Why is music purchased on iPhone 5 not appearing in Recently Added Playlists until I sync with PC? These songs used to show up right away on the phone in my Recently Added Smart Playlists. Please help!

Has anyone else even noticed this or is it going over-looked?  I challenge itunes music purchasers to try and see.

  • Have iMatch and added many local mp3's to iTunes library on PC. My goal is to only have music in iCloud with no local copies stored on PC's/iPod/iPad/iPhone. Is this possible?

After loading many mp3's from local PC to iTunes Libraries and enabling iMatch, iTunes indicates that the track data is being extracted from iTunes database to the cloud and some songs uploaded from my local network store to the cloud. When the song list is viewed on the PC there are circles with exclamation points (circl/Excl) by many of the songs that were supposedly uploaded to iCloud. If the songs are played on the PC and the network store where the files were originally accessed is blocked, the files without the circle/Excl are played from the cloud and the 'song could not be located' alarm pops up when trying to play the ones with the circle/Excl. When the network sttore is unblocked the songs play from the local source. How can one force the upload of any/all existing songs to iCloud when not contained in Apples database?

This also applies to your situation: Make and keep a backup of your iTunes library, and only stream from the cloud.

  • Has anyone had a problem transferring music from icloud onto the iPod?

I have all my music stored in icloud. It will not download onto my ipod classic in it's entirety. There is plenty of space. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this issue?

I bought a new computer, copied the songs on to the new computer and backed them up on the iCloud.  I am having the same trouble as you (unfortunately).  I am looking for an answer too...

  • HT201269 problem transferring music  -  replaced 4S with same model

my music did not dowload to my new phone when I used itunes to transfer the to replacement phone i was sent.  how do you fix this?  where did the music go and how do you download it?

    Hello, LIGirl12.
Thank you for the question.  The first thing you want to do is check your music library in iTunes to see if your media is present.  If this media is there, then you can sync it back to the device.  I have attached an article that shows you how to syncing this media to your iPhone.  If the media is not present, you can download any past purchases to the computer by following the second article below.

    Hey lightc,
If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • New PC & transferring Music & Playlist

    I’m sure it’s me! But……there’s something I’m missing.
In short: I have purchased a new PC and I simply want to transfer music and playlist to that PC. Previously my music was on external drive letter (D), on new PC that same drive is a different letter.
This is presenting me with a problem. I can seem to consolidate because my iTunes thinks the music is on a different drive. Not sure what I’m missing.
I’m sure I’ve not explained this clearly. So I’ll try to clarify my question:
What is the easiest way to transfer my entire iTunes library music and playlist to a new PC with different drive locations?
I’ve read what I think is all or most of the documentation on backing up and transferring music to a different location, so I think I’m in need of some one that will patiently walk me through this step by step.

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

  • HT1420 I am using my old iPhone for playlist for my Dad's funeral as that meets the crematorium requirements. Some tracks - uploaded from personal CDs to MacBook Pro and successfully transferred to new iPhone (with small doc) won't transfer on syncing.  M

I am using my old iPhone for playlist for my Dad's funeral as that meets the crematorium requirements. Some tracks - uploaded from personal CDs to MacBook Pro and successfully transferred to new iPhone (with small doc) won't transfer on syncing.  Most do, but why won't some, of my own music sync when others off the same album and in the same playlist do? I have now checked the storage, freed up 766MB, how can i not sync (and get everything i've just deleted back) but upload the required tunes? All help appreciated, many thanks x x x

maybe this post by Zevoneer helps.
I don’t want to hear any of that “iTunes will let you re-download anything you’ve lost” nonsense.
it won't anyways. except or apps, you are entitled to one download only. there4 it is important to back up.

  • If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...
and i hope you understand my problem..
i would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if someone could tell me a solution to my problem!!! thank you so much!
    -sierra

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • HT1349 I ordered iCloud with iTunes on my PC; now I have an iPad mini and want to sync the music

First I added iCloud with iTunes on my PC because I wanted to save the music I had purchases; I had Vista; that PC died and am now on Windows 7; Then I purchased an iPad mini and today I tried to set up both so I could sync the music purchased on iPad mini and PC previously.
However on the PC when I enter iCloud it does not have iTunes available; so I'm stuck and don't know where or how to get the music to sync between the two. It keeps asking for a serial number on the Apple product for the PC but that doesn't apply.
As a newbee I'm grateful for any answers or clues where to go. Thanks, Janet

Unless you backed up your iTunes library from the old computer and then copied it to the new computer, your iTunes library is gone now and you have to start all over again.
I'm not sure what you mean about when you entered iCloud, iTunes isn't available. You will need to explain that a little better. iCloud allows you to download the music again to your computer or to your iPad as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to purchase the music or any other iTunes content.
Since you have a new computer and no longer have the iTunes library - or so it seems from what you are saying - you need to make the new computer your syncing computer. You might want to take a look at both of these user tips to see how you can do that.

  • I have music in iTunes that was purchased with an account that no longer exists. I'm transferring music to a new computer so the new iTunes is asking me to sign in to the old account to authorize the old music. Is there a work-around for this?

Just to clarify: I purchased some of my older music in iTunes with an account that got deleted. I cannot recover or use this old account. I transferred music from my old iTunes to a new computer and that new iTunes on the new computer is asking me to sign into the old account to authorize the music. So, is there another way to transfer this music to my new iTunes? I'm using a USB thumb drive to transfer the music. Also, music that was purchased with my current account tranfers just fine.

  • I downloded music using a different apple id on my ipad then i changed my id to match my iphone but it isnt showing my music i bought with my other id on icloud. how can i get my music back!?

i downloded music using a different apple id on my ipad then i changed my id on my ipad to match my iphone but it isnt showing my music i bought with my old ipad apple id on icloud. how can i get my music back!?

It won't show on iCloud because iCloud is associated with a specific Apple ID.  The music should be on your computer's iTunes and a Sync will put it on the iPad (be sure to configure iTunes properly).  If you want to get it from iCloud, I think that you need to temporarily change your ID back to the old one but I've never done that myself.

  • After creating a new playlist in iTunes, how can I add my entire music library --at once-- to the new playlist. I want to download all my music from Icloud at once on my Macpro

You have two separate questions here...
To get all your music into one playlist, select Music in the sidebar and click the Songs view at the top. Then, highlight all the songs and drag them into your playlist.
I don't know if it's possible to download all Purchased content (or do you mean iTunes Match content?) at once; try a few Google searches.
