Transfering new files added to the iPod into the iTuns library
Hi,
I have resently added albums and video to my iPod from a friends iTunes libary, I returned home to find that even though it was my iPod I could still not transfer the files within it.
I was wondering if anyone knows a way round this? Even though it is supposed to enforce copyright!
Thanks for reading,

How do i get the music on my ipod into my itunes library on new computer
how do i get the music from my ipod into my itunes library on new computer
If they are all purchases from the iTunes Store you can transfer the purchases from your iPod to the library by following the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

I have now transfered my files of ripped CD's to my iTunes library three times Since upgrading to iTunes 11 and Windows 8. On each occassion, the conversion seems to occur fine, the files play, but when I close my computer and return the next day, iTunes says it cannot locate any of those files. Three times. Beginning to lose my temper. Advice? Suggestions? Could the fact that my original library is located on a network drive have anything to do with it? Thanks for your help, all.
Repair security permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7/8 shouldn't be too different.
Repeat for the media folder if it isn't a subfolder of the iTunes folder.

How can i put songs from my ipod into my itunes library?
I want to sort out all mu music on my ipod and start fresh, but i want to keep all my music. Is there a way of putting music from my ipod into my iTunes library? I understand that if there is music on my ipod then i mustve put it on there from the library but i dont think i did! It's just not there! all i need to do is transfer it from my ipod to my itunes library Pls help. Ta.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your iPod connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod.
If you had Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading a song from the iTunes store direct with your iPod, the song would be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod with iTunes after doing so.
Manually managing music and videos is manual all the way. -
I have my iTunes library on an external hard drive that was connected to a PC, now I would like to connect that hard drive my new iMac and load the iTunes library onto that computer, can I do that? Looking for a solution that keeps me from re-ripping my CD collection.

How can I move songs on my ipod into my itunes library?
All of my files from my laptop were recently deleted however they stayed on my ipod. Is there any way I can move these files into my itunes library? I have tried copying and pasting but it doesn't seem to work.
Hello there,
There are several ways you can accomplish this. The first link after the Apple support document below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

After moving files out of the iTunes library they still show in the iTunes list
I am archiving movies out of my iTunes library. I have moved the files from the iTunes media folder and into another folder but the movies still show up in the iTunes movie list in the main iTunes window. I am sure there is some kind of link to the file but do I need to break that somehow or can I refresh the iTunes list so it will see that the files are no longer in the media folder?

An easier way is to simply drag movies/songs from the iTunes window to where you want.
Then delete it in iTunes.

When you add files to iTunes, it adds them to the iTunes library database file and this is what is displayed in iTunes.
I f you remove the file from its location, iTunes will not know until you try to access it in iTunes. It will then show an exclamation mark if it cannot find that file. -

Adding music to ipod nano from itunes library
PLEASE HELP -- an ipod is connected to itunes on my windows pc and the window lights up o.k.. i want to add the itunes library to the ipod.. when i drag a title to the ipod name, i see the circle/slash symbol telling me its no good.. i have ripped the library to a cd, and still cant make it work.. any suggestions?
Ya but in your first post it wasn't clear WHERE the iPod icon was that you were dragging. So you could very well have been trying to drag stuff from the iTunes library window to the iPod icon showing on the desk top (Mac) or in "My Computer" (Win) as a disk drive. That comes up from time to time, so had to verify.
OK, next question, how is the iPod setup to update? Are you set to Auto update or manual update? If one of the auto updates, then you can not drag and drop anything onto the iPod. You "sync" it instead. If you right click on the iPod set for auto updating, you will see a "Sync" choice. Pick that and iTunes will update the iPod however it is set to update (the whole library or select playlists).

My itunes library is empty on my new computer, but I have a full library on my ipod. How do I "reverse" sync? I don't see an option in itunes to put all the info from my ipod onto my computer. I see it the other way, which would then erase all the data on my ipod. Help!!
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Fire up a copy thread when the new file added to the directory
Hello,
I am writing a thread to copy the files from a specific directory to the server. Since the files are sent to this directory by another group and I want to do the coping whenever the files are in the directory.
Could you tell me how I can monitor the files in the directory and fire up the copy thread when the files are there?
Thanks in advance!
DavidGuess you can use a thread to check the directory for any changes and, if found, do the copying. You can use the same thread you used to copy for checking as well.

How can I import all the music files on my computer directly into my iTunes library?
I recently cleaned my computer of all junk files and this resulted in a loss of all my music from my iTunes library. All of the files are still on my computer but I can only find them one at a time is there a way to speed up this process?
Ok, go to your downloads in itunes and right click on what you wish to remove and click delete, then confirm the dialoague box and it should remove it. I did this with a free tv episode to test it out. Just now worked. If you have problems try updating itunes and then try again.

HT1473 how do i move songs from an ipod into my itunes library
My itunes library is missing loads of songs. How do I move songs from an old ipod into my library, so that I can then move into my new ipod and ipad?
For iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
For non-iTunes music by one of the third-part programs discussed in this previous discussion:

I have been having a lot of issues with my iPod touch. Whatever I purchase on my iPod I can't seem to transfer it to my iTunes library. If something should happen to my iPod, I wouldn't want to lose all of the music I have purchased. I can't upgrade it either because a box pops up that says everything will be erased from my iPod... I need help!
Might be an authorization issue in iTunes. Try deauthorizing your computer through the Store menu at the top of iTunes and then authorizing it again. Once that is done try transferring purchases from the iPod Touch.
