Transfering photos from iPad to a non-Mac PC

Hey, short of emailing them to an address and going through the process of saving each and every single one, 5 at a time per email, is there a way I can export the photos onto a PC? Or even send them back to the card which I imported them from?

Is there a way to move imported photos to saved? And I thought Syncing only worked from PC to iPad instead of the other way around?
The "Saved Photos" need to be imported to the PC. Examples of these are screen snaps, photos saved from emails and web pages, etc.
The other albums are what is synced from the pc to the ipad.
Don't confuse import with sync.
You import the saved photos album (ipad to PC).
You sync all others (pc to ipad).
Hope this helps....

  • I'm getting a message that my iCloud storage is almost full (5.0 GB, 186 mb remaining).  I have transferred all photos from iPad and iPhone to Mac.  I've deleted all but 200 photos on each of these devices.  Data storage is still same.

I have transferred all photos from iPad and iPhone to Mac.  I have deleted almost all photos from both (about 200 remaining on each).  I do not store tunes or videos.  After making these changes, I still have the same message in iCloud.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > Select your device (listed as 'This iPhone' or 'This iPad') then look at the next backup size.  Compare the 'Next Backup Size' to the 'Backup Size' on taht same screen.  If the next backup size is smaller, then you have successfully removed some content from your device.
Now the question still lingers as to why your iCloud is still showing so full right?  Well, iCloud keeps the last 3 backups from each device.  It doesn't duplicate them, but it uses an incremental backup system.  So basically your device's backup will take up as much space on iCloud as the largest backup of the last 3 backups.  With that being said, your iPhone and ipad will eventually shrink the size of your backup (if that next backup size is smaller) in about 3 days (3 backups assuming your iOS devices backup once as day when you are sleeping).
Can I expedite this?  Well of course you can.  If you want, you can Delete the backup from both of the devices via that same screen then go back to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, turn iCloud Backups back on, then backup now.  Keep in mind that if you do this, it will clear out your last 3 backups (and cannot be undone), but it may also take a long while for your iPhone and iPad to complete that inital backup after deleting the old backups.
I hope this helps. (My Recommendation: Basically check what's in paragraph one, then it will works itself out in a few days.)

  • I have a problem with transfering photos from iPad to MacBook Air, how do I go about doing that?

Photos from iPad to MacBook Air, I am currently trying to use my USB cord to transfer photos, but how?

You can only import photos in the camera roll, not synced photos. So I assume that you want to transfer the photos that you shot with the iPad camera. You can use iPhoto or Image Capture on the MBA.
Just connect the iPad to the Mac with the cable and launch either of those two apps. Your iPad should appear under the devices heading in the left sidebar of the app. Click on the iPad name just like you do when you sync with iTunes and the camera roll photos should appear in the window on the right.

  • Transferring photos from a Canon to my Mac

I recently bought a Canon Power Shot.  I have used it and transferred photos to my Mac and didnt have any problems. Now all of a sudden, I turned it on, to import the pictures to the computer, and the camera just turns itself off and the Mac says no camera detected !  I dont know if this is a problem with the camera or the Mac. The camera works fine when actually taking pictures.  Can anyone help ?

    Hi..
    Try this ...
Open Image Capture located in your Applications folder. Connect your camera.
    Select the camera under Devices.
Now click the pop up menu bottom left corner of the Image Capture window and select the app you want to import photos with to your Mac.
Before disconnecting the camera from your Mac, right or control click the camera icon on the Desktop then click Eject.

  • Transfering photos from iPad mini to macbook air

How can I transfer movie clips (or photos) from my iPad mini to a MacBook Air?
I have AirDrop on both devices however they do not see each other.
The AirDrop on the MacBook sees an iMac, however not the ipad mini - so the AirDrop on the MacBook works.
The iPad Mini's AirDrop works with another iPad Mini - so that works, and the function is "on"
I also tried connecting the ipad to the MacBook using the Lightning  to USB connection, and am able to backup the ipad mini, and synch items
However I do not seem able to "see" and move the photos or movie clips from the ipad mini to the MacBook.
    Thanks.

AirDrop does not work for an iOS device to a Mac. It works Mac to Mac or iOS device to iOS device. Strange, I know, but that's how it works currently so don't try any longer using AirDrop.
You cannot transfer photos using iTunes either. It's not supposed to work that way. You can import the photos to iPhoto, Image Capture or Aperture on the Mac.
this is explains how to do it.

  • Synchronizing photos from ipad 2 to iPhone/Mac

    Hi.
the photos on my ipad is placed in photostream but since I got a new iPhone and Mac it doesn't automatically transfers the photos to the photostream on those.
do anyone know how-to without cable?
or is it necessary to transfer via Esther iPhoto or iTunes?
    thnaks in advance.

Only photos that are taken on the iPad after you enable Photo Stream on the iPhone and the Mac will sync to those devices. The Photo Stream photos that were already on the iPad will not sync. You could import the photos to the Mac and then sync them to the iPad or you could transfer the photos to both devices using a third party app.

  • Transferring photos from iPad to PC

    Hi.
I have the original version iPad and am trying to transfer photos (8,000 of them which I downloaded from camera to the iPad) to my PC.  I've spent hours and hours looking for a solution, but am stumped. I take full responsibility for not checking into this sooner.  I just never considered that the photos would be trapped on the device. It's just so dang convenient to download them to the iPad when traveling, rather than hauling my PC! In any event, here's what I've tried, in a nutshell.
    1. I had assumed that the iPad would be recognized as an external devices (as are my iPod and iPhone) and I could grab and file the photos directly to my desktop. However, my PC does not recognize the iPad.  I had an Apple Genius Bar appointment last week and could not resolve the issue. (Strange experience, actually. Left me thinking it was the particular representative who was unable to help, rather than that a solution didn't exist.)
    2. I attempted to use DropBox to transfer the files, but discovered that while doing so, the original resolution of the photos could not be maintained. Discussion forums confirmed that this is a "glitch" in DropBox - no solution at this time.  Discussion forums also pointed out that this issue also exists on iCloud.
Any ideas?  Seems like I'm left to teach myself a lesson my emailing each of the those photos to myself to then save to my desktop--ultimately backing up and filing with other archived photos.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks.

You may want to look into third party apps for your PC used to recover files off an iPad/iPhone.

  • Can some photos from ipad be transferred to mac or external hard disk

can some photos from ipad be transferred to mac or external hard disk

Photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be copied to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You can't connect an external drive directly to the iPad, you will need to copy them to your computer first.
Photos that originally synced from a computer can be copied back to a computer via third-party apps such as Simple Transfer (which also has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when iTunes syncs them to the iPad, any that are copied back to a computer may not be exactly the same (file size, dimensions etc) as they originally were on the computer.

  • Suddenly I cannot get photos from iPad onto my Mac.

From the beginning, I simply connected the iPad2 to my Mac with the USB, and all photos were uploaded onto my Mac. I've followed all the directions to get updates for both Mac and iPad2. Now none of my new photos upload onto the Mac. Can you help?

I'm not sure how you were importing the photos on your Mac but the two ways that I know of are with iPhoto and Image Capture.
Open iPhoto and go to Preferences>General>Connecting Camera Opens - and you can select iPhoto or Image Capture.
Connect your iPad to your Mac and Open Image Capture. Click on devices and then at the bottom of the left side you can select - Connecting this iPad Opens - and choose the app of your choice from there. These are copied and pasted from Help in the two applications.
When you connect the iPad now, one of the chosen applications will open and let you import the images.
    To import photos from iPad:
Connect your iPad to your computer using the Dock Connector to USB cable that came with your iPad.If iPhoto wasn’t already open, it opens for you (unless you changed this preference in iPhoto or your iPad is locked). After your iPad is connected and turned on, iPhoto opens in import view and your iPad appears in the Source list.
By default, iPhoto divides photos into separate Events during the import process. You can optionally enter a description in the Event Name field. If you don’t want iPhoto to automatically create events, deselect the Split Events checkbox at the bottom of the window. If you want to change the time frame used to sort your photos into Events, you can change it in iPhoto preferences.
If you don’t want to see photos that you’ve already imported into iPhoto, select the Hide Photos Already Imported checkbox at the bottom of the window.
    Do one of the following:
To import all the photos shown in the iPhoto window, click Import All.
To import a selection of photos, press the Command key while clicking photo thumbnails, or drag to select a group of photos, and then click Import Selected.
To cancel photo transfer at any time during your import, click Stop Import. Then, in the dialog that appears, choose to continue importing the photos, keep the photos that have been imported and stop importing the remaining photos, or delete the photos that have been imported.
After the import process is finished, drag the device icon to the iPhoto Trash, and then disconnect your iPad from your computer by unplugging the Dock Connector to USB cable.Important:  Before you disconnect your iPad, wait until all photos have been imported into iPhoto (or until you click Stop Import).
This is from Image Capture. I'm assuming you used Image Capture.
    Transferring items automatically
You can automatically transfer items from your camera to your computer whenever you connect the camera to your computer.
To transfer items whenever you connect your camera:
Connect your camera to your computer, and turn the camera on.
Select the camera in the Devices list at the left of the Image Capture window.
From the “Connecting this [device] opens” pop-up menu, choose AutoImporter. If you don’t see that pop-up menu, click the “Show device settings” button in the lower-left corner.
The next time you connect your camera, Image Capture transfers images from the camera to the AutoImporter folder in your Pictures folder (in your home folder).

  • Transfered photos from IMac with Iphoto 9 to a mac book with Iphoto 11 now Iphoto 09 errors out saying "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto."

Transfered photos from IMac with Iphoto 9 to a mac book with Iphoto 11 now Iphoto 09 errors out saying "You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."  We have not updated or changed anything on the IMac all we did is transfer photos. Any help would be appreciated.

LarryHN is correct. The only way this message occurs is if the iPhoto Library database is upgraded to a newer version.
You could try holding SHIFT-OPT-COMMAND when launching iPhoto from the dock and checking only "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" and hope it restores the previous database prior to the upgrade.
If that doesn't work, you can install iPhoto '11 on your iPhoto '09 computer. If I understood the iPhoto '11 Mac App License agreeement correctly, you can install it on any personal, non-commerical computer you own running 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7.

  • I had created two photo albums on my ipad, by transferring photos from my hp laptop. I want to make space available on my ipad by deleting these photos, but the same hp laptop is no more with me. How do I delete these photos?

I had created two photo albums on my ipad, by transferring photos from my hp laptop. I want to make space available on my ipad by deleting these photos, but the same hp laptop is no more with me. How do I delete these photos?

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)

I feel like I should know the answer to this. I can't believe it is a hard question.
What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)
    Easy? Right?
Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.

iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

  • Transfering docs from iPad to Mac doesn't work

I have 2 iPads: iPad 1 and iPad 2. I bought iPad 2 a month ago and –using Snow Leopard– I could
transfer all my documents from iPad 1 to my Mac. After that, I loaded my new iPad 2 with the same
documents from Mac. I have updated to Lion and to iTunes 10.4 but now I see that I can't transfer
the documents from my iPads. For example, when selecting GoodReader, I can see only a partial
list of documents (in both iPads), so I could never transfer the whole set of documents. There is now
another problem: I selected this partial list of documents in order to transfer them to Mac, but when
the transfer process detect a folder, the transfer stops indicating an error. In the following figure,
BPM-SOA is just a folder, and it only says "an error is produced" and "the file is not found" without further information.
I deduce this problem is relatied with Lion/iTunes 10.4 as the same iPad 1 from which I tranfered all
my documents, now it only shows the partial list of documents (ending in NUI Natural User...) but I
have documents whose names begin with 'Z'. So, the set of documents between N and Z dissapeared
while when I transfered all the documents with Snow Leopard and iTunes 10.3 all worked fine and I have
a folder with the complete list of documents. I have a MacBook aluminiun, 13'' , 2 Gz Intel Core 2 duo, 4 Gb RAM,
an iPad 1 wifi 32 Gb and an iPad 2 wifi 64 Gb.

the GoodReaderUSB tool allows you to transfer entire folders into GoodReader without loosing the folder/file structure. also you can do the same in reverse using the tool. ie transfer everything from your iPad back onto your desktop.
    Windows: http://www.goodiware.com/usb/GoodReaderUSBWin_200.zip
    Mac: http://www.goodiware.com/usb/GoodReaderUSBMac_202.zip
also, I'm not affiliated with this tool in anyway, its just very very useful.

  • Transferring photos from pc to mac

I'm having a hard time transferring my photos from my pc to my new mac.  I used Migration Assistant but the photos didn't transfer.  Anyone have a suggestion?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. See this Apple KB document on transferring files from a PC to a Mac: How to transfer data from a PC to a Macintosh
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
