You don't need an app, you can use iTunes on your computer to select and sync your music to your iPad - the only way to get music into the iPad's built-in Music app is by downloading it from the iTunes store directly on your iPad or syncing it from a computer's iTunes. If you don't have iTunes installed on your computer then you can download and install it from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
And if you haven't synced your iPad to your computer before then you may also find this page useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
For your music, if you haven't already got it in your computer's iTunes library (and if it's in a compatible format) then you should be able to add it via File > Add To Library (control-B should get the drop-down menus to show if they aren't already showing). Then connect your iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via control-S on a PC) and use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select which of your iTunes music that you want in your iPad's Music app.

  • Transferring Photos From Laptop to ipad mini

How do I transfer photos from laptop to my ipad mini?

You can e-mail them to yourself.
You can upload them to something like dropbox then download them onto your ipad
If you get the camera connection kit and an SD card you can put the photos onto the SD card (there is a naming convention to follow) then export them off the SD card onto your iPad.
There are photo syncing apps although I don't have one to recommend
You can use iTunes to sync them onto your ipad (although what you sync on via iTunes you must use iTunes to sync off when you're done with them so it may/may not be the best way for you)

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

Having trouble transfer photos from iphoto to ipad mini.  Any suggestions?

What problems are you having ? You should be able to sync photos by connecting and selecting your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders (or iPhoto albums/events) to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

I just got an iPad mini for Christmas and I would like to know how can I transfer my iPod (2nd gen) files to my new iPad mini?

  • Can I copy photos from my new iPad mini to an SD card using  Lighning to SD card reader?

I would like to copy photos from a camera SD card onto an iPad mini (iOS 8.2), then copy them onto another SD card as a backup. Can this be done and what is required?

The iPad doesn't natively support that. You can get the camera connection kit and import photos but it does not support writing data off the iPad.
There are some wireless flash drives that you can use to export data to that may be doing what you want.
The Kingston WiDrive is one of them but there are others you can search for to find one that works for you.
Another thing to do would be to import the photos, then use something like dropbox to back your files onto (although I personally prefer storage I can control not servers that I can't but I'm old fashioned that way)

  • Extracting photos from imessage on ipad mini

How do I get photos that are sent through Messages on an ipad mini to anywhere else? If I tap/hold on the photo, it says "Copy" but then I don't know where I could copy it to?
    Can someone help with this?

Obviously the phone numbers must be linked with one Apple ID or they would not show up. This will explain how to add your iPhone number to the list and how to remove the others if you do not want them to appear.

  • Transfering Music from PC to iPad Mini Retina

My experience to date has only been with Windows based machines.
I have now a new iPad Mini Retina and I'm trying to figure out how to transfer some of my music from my PC to the iPad. I don't want to transfer it all.
Do I need to download a particular app - could you give me a url? Maybe point me to a tutorial? Most of the music has been ripped from my CD collection, I don't think  I bought any from iTunes.
Sorry if I seem to be asking an obvious question but it's only obvious when you know the answer.

  • Transfering pictures from camera to iPad Mini

When I had my iPad 2 (now the kid has it), I could use an adpator from Apple and connect the SD card from my camera to the iPad to store pictures.  Is there a way to do this with the iPad Mini?  Thanks for any suggestions.

You need the Lightning to SD card reader.

  • Syncing Photos from iPhoto to IPad mini

I have just been on the chatline to George at Apple about the nonsensical way my 2000+ photos have been sent to my iPad.  The filenames have been completely ignored - which would have at least kept them in order if not in the right folders.  I was told the transfers are done by the number of the file on the computer or the smallest files first.  What ever weird order it has done it in makes absolutely no sense - it looks like dates which bear little relation to the order in which they were taken or scanned and it will be a nightmare to make new folders and find all the photos to go into the correct folder.
This reason is probably why my iPod is not allowed near the computer - was the software changed as it used to work just fine?
This is a request that the filename for photos is used in preference to any other method.  Thank you.

Thank you for responding.  The photos are from various sources - scanned actual prints, photos taken with ipod or digital camera and ones sent to me and saved from emails.  I asked to sync photos on the mac as I am reluctant to use iCloud or photostream (it seemed to be after this was introduced that the problems started).  I would be happy to unsync to delete the photos on the new device but is there a way that would keep them in their folders - which I'd spent three days organising - so shots can be found quickly?

I had created two photo albums on my ipad, by transferring photos from my hp laptop. I want to make space available on my ipad by deleting these photos, but the same hp laptop is no more with me. How do I delete these photos?

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • TS1501 transferring a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro (this way you can upload one album at a time, file them into a new album on macbook pro)  Pls. advise.

How can I transfer a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro?  In theory, I should be able to keep my albums together this way (once uploaded to macbook pro, i can easily file them into a new album on macbook pro.)  Not working for me!  Macbook pro does include iphoto.  I had no problem uploading ALL photos (3 or 4,000.)  Help!  Goal is to keep albums together.

    Hi all,
    Goal:  Backing up photos!
Hope:  Transfer ALBUMS from ipad to external drive (via macbook pro)
Is this possible?  Or will I have to create a file name for each of my thousands of photos?
    UGH!
    HELP!

  • HT1692 My contact list has not transferred from my old iPad mini to my new iPad mini.  How do I accomplish this? My calendar and email transferred just fine.

How do I get the contacts from my old iPad mini to my new iPad mini retina?
Is there someone I can talk to?

One way is to download the app My Contacts Backup on your old iPad.  Use the app to back up your contacts as a vCard attachment to an email.  Send the email to yourself, then open the email on your new iPad and tap the attachment to import the contacts.
