Transfering photoshop cs6 to a new macbook pro

My MacBook Pro died and I purchased a newer one. I had my old hard drive put into a case as an external drive. I downloaded the old drive onto my new Mac. So now when I start up my computer, I have to sign on to either my new drive or the old one. I signed onto the old one and tried to open the Photoshop CS6, I was asked to sign into my account and supply the serial numbers. I was able to sign in, but whenever I tried to enter the serial number, I could not enter the number. I would punch the keys to enter it and the cursor would just sit there and blink at me without accepting the information. Any idea of why? By the way, this is an educational version, which is non-transferrable to another person, but I didn't see anything that excludes moving the program to a new computer. Help!

Do all of this under an Administrator Account.
If you can uninstall do that. Checkmark "Remove Preferences. Verify and Repair Permissions on your main drive with disc utility.
I would suggest CS Cleaner to remove any traces Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
If you have your original discs, that should work. Discs do tend to get scratches and smudges, so if you are experiencing difficulties, the downloadable installer would be your Plan B.

  • Photoshop CS6 performance on new Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013

    Hi guys,
Just bought the new 13" Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 with 8GB RAM and 256SSD.
Installed CS6 with all patches and retina update but performance is appaling. Im editing a Nikon D800 file which I know is heavy, but when zoomed in at 100% and using the healing brush it is unusable. There is so much lag on the brush it takes a second after i lift my pen for the stroke to be finishes.
Happening in Scaled & Best for Retina screen modes.
My 2005 Core 2 Duo laptop with 4GB of ram and windows 7 did this without hiccups, so I cant believe this brand new laptop cant do it.
Any ideas? Its really unusable now.
    Cheers

    Dick,
If you downloaded and installed the latest Mac OS X driver, it will not work with your Intuos2 tablet.  If you OS X is 10.6+, here are driver directions to follow for a clean install and a link to the last driver:
Open your Applications folder and locate any Tablet or Wacom Tablet folders you have
Use the Utility in each of these folders and click ‘Remove’ under ‘Tablet Software’
Once the software is removed, restart the computer
After restarting, download and install the latest 6.20 driver from:http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/mac/pro/WacomTablet_6.2.0w4.dmg
As always, make sure your tablet is connected directly to your computer.
Avoid using USB hubs, keyboard/monitor ports, or docking stations with the tablets, as they can cause inconsistent behavior.

  • I'm using CS6 with my new macbook pro why is it all pixalized

just downloaded the trial for the 30 day of photoshop CS6 on my new MACBOOK PRO with retina display and its very very pixalzed.  WHY?!

It shouldn't be at all. I'm running Photoshop CS6 on a 2011 MBP and it's working fine. The only thing that I can figure out is that you may not be running at the recommended resolution? What res are you working in? Photoshop is not yet optimized for the full screen display max on the MBP-R.

  • Has anyone actually used PS CS6 with the new Macbook pro?

There has been an awful lot of discussion about how the new macbook will work with CS6, mostly talk about the UI, but has anyone used it?  How does it work with the retina display (other than the UI)?  Yes, Adobe is going to make it retina compatible and we don't know if they will charge for the upgrade or not.  But I'd like feedback from someone who is using the new Macbook pro with CS6.
    Thanks!

Thanks.  I have scoured the forums and nobody has used it - or if anyone has, they haven't said squat.  Anyway, I took the plunge, downloaded the app and it is absolutely stunning on my rMBP.  Even though, as you say, it is at the pixel representation I've always had.  I can't wait until the update and full retina representation.
It is fast as blazes, sharp as a tack.  A beautiful thing.  I'll play with it some more to see how it performs.  But so far with some short tests, the rendering is almost instantanious and the colors are brilliant.
    So far, so good.

  • Transferring from old PowerBook to new MacBook Pro

I have ordered a new Macbook Pro and was looking for guidance on bringing it up to date with my old PowerBook with Tiger as easy as possible.
I was wondering if I could just move my total Users Folder from the PB to the new computer?
Are there items in this Tiger Users folder that would not work in the new Leopard Intel computer and should not be moved?

  • Transferring time machine files to new Macbook Pro

Hello All - I just got a new Macbook Pro and wish to use a time machine external backup disk to transfer everything from my three-year-old Macbook to it. The old Macbook has all the latest system updates, but there is an older version of iLife on it. So I wonder if this operation would replace the new version with the old one. Also, are there any other caveats? Thanks in advance for your help. JN

No, migration will not replace an older app with a newer one. However it's best to use setup assistant to make the transfer the first time you book up the new Mac.Otherwise it may create a second Home folder. Just choose from a TM volume.

  • How do I install Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on new MacBook Pro without DVD drive?

I just purchased my first MacBook Pro and am trying to get everything set up and installed. I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and retrieved my serial number and have the redemption code -- but I can't figure out how to install Photoshop without a DVD drive. The Photoshop package I purchased only provides DVDs and I don't have a DVD drive. Is there a website I can go to to install Photoshop and enter my serial number or redemption code?

Have you tried downloading the trial version and using your serial
    number to activate it?
The trial version is a complete product and can be activated by
    inserting the valid serial number.
    Good luck.

  • HT3231 Trouble transferring Office for Mac onto new Macbook Pro Retina

I just transferred Office 2011 from my old MacBookPro to a new MacBookPro w/ Retina but it says "The Office for Mac installation did not complete successfully because there was a problem with the installer.  To fix the issue please reinstall Office for Mac."  My original installation of Office was via a disk with an enclosed Product Key.  The new MacBook doesn't have a DVD drive.  Can I just download a new copy of Office and use the old Product Key or is there another solution??

Yes as Kappy points out or you could make a DMG of the Office DVD and copy that over to your new MBPr. Or you could buy an external DVD drive and it does not have to be an Apple brand DVD drive. Any USB external DVD drive will work. Best to get one that is Tray Load instead of the Slot load that Apple uses.

  • Photoshop CS6 beta hangs my macbook pro during install

It always starts the install but hangs at about 40 to 50% into the install. The whole macbook pro freezes including force quit and a hard boot is necessary. Any ideas as to how to resolve this issue

    Try the following in order:
1.) Unmount all the other DMGs (if any) and then try with only Adobe PS CS6 DMG mounted.
2.) Reboot the system and then try.
3.) Copy the PS CS6 installer files to a folder on desktop from DMG and then try to launch the installer from the locally copied installer.
Let us know if any of these works.

  • Transferring MS office to a new macbook pro.

I am trying to transfer MS office 2010 from an old macbook pro to a new one.  on starting the apps it asks for a product key. when i enter the key from the original office 2004 disks,  it does not work.  Any ideas on how to get the apps to work.

Doesn't sound plausible - from 2004 to 2008 to 2011, all were 'paid' updates. There was no Office 2010 for Macs, only 2011 (which is the latest available at present).
You will need to either buy or 'rent' Office 2011 (by 'renting' I mean using Office 365 which allows you, for $99 per year, the ability to download and use Office on up to 5 devices at one time).
    Good luck,

  • Transfering iPhone 4S Data to New MacBook Pro.

Hey there.  I know this question is always being asked, but I'm still a little confused.  I understand you can't sync your iPhone 4S to your new MacBook.  Am I right?  I bought my MacBook at Best Buy so is it possible for them to transfer my stuff?  I'm not great with this stuff so I want someone who knows how to do it.

It should sync automatically with iTunes and Mail if you set up with your iTunes and iCloud account. It will not sync your apps as they run on a different operating system. You may need to configure Photo Stream to get the photos automatically.

  • Transferring files from iPad to new Macbook pro

My last computer broke so I invested in a Macbook pro. I have an iPad and I want to transfer files from the iPad to the Macbook, How do I do this?

There are a number of ways to do it and some of that depends on the type of files that you want to transfer.
You can email files from with the app in which they were created on the iPad. The app should have some sort of action icon at the top of the screen - or a share button - from which you can initiate the email. You can use DropBox or another cloud service. You can also use iOS file sharing with iTunes if you have an app on the iPad that supports file sharing.

So what type of files are you trying to transfer to the Mac?

  • Help transferring music from iTunes to new MacBook Pro

    Hi there,
I am almost all set up with my new laptop. One last hitch; I can't seem to transfer my music over. I tried to put my library (about 6G) of music from my old (PC) laptop onto my iPhone and then figured I could just upload it from the iPhone to the MacBook but I when I try to sync it doesn't seem to want to work. I am getting a message that leads me to believe that when I try to sync the iPhone to the MacBook I will lose my iTunes library. Has anyone tried this? Is there an easier way to move the music files over?
    Thanks!!
