Transfering Photoshop Elements 5 to another PC

I currently have Photoshop Elements 5.0 on my computer. I will soon be getting a new PC. I see in the Photoshop application where I can "Transfer Activation" of the product to another computer. I understand that I will have to uninstall the product from the old computer. I originally downloaded this product and did not get the hard copy media disk, so my question is:
How do I find the product download or media to be able to install this software on the new computer?
I would prefer to not have to buy an upgrade or anything, since Photoshop 5 works completely fine for the very simple and basic functions that I need it for.
Any advice or direction from someone more knowledgeable than myself would be welcome. Thanks!

Upgrading may be inevitable, though. Those old versions are simply not compatible with Win 8 and so on, despite all the compatibility mode mumbo-jumbo.

  • Transferring Photoshop Elements 11 files to a different computer

My son recently bought Photoshop Elements 11 and installed it on his computer.  I would like to transfer my catalog of pictures to him and have it look just like it does on my computer with Album titles, keywords, etc.  When we tried to do this by using a backup of my Photoshop Element files, it transferred the pictures and keywords but not the album titles or album organization.  Also, the keywords were not in the same keyword categories that I had set up on my computer.  Is it possible to do what I want, or do the pictures have to all be reorganized and put into albums again on his computer?

If you used the organizer's backup command (not another form of backing up) and then did a restore (not just a copy) to the new computer, you should have everything you had on the old one.

  • Moving photoshop elements 3 to another computer

I am upgrading my computer to another machine, both xp. How do I move my photoshop elements 3.0 to the new machine and maintain tags and such? Also, I have placed pse 3.0 on my wife's machine and would like to place my photos that are within 3.0 on her machine also, while also maintaining tags, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using PSE3 Backup or Burn options: doing either of these direct to a CD or DVD does not enable multi-session burning of a disc, ie. adding to a disc that's part-empty. This is a nuisance as I don't want to create lots of discs with a few Mb of data on them. PSE3 Knowledgebase says I can use a 3rd Party burner (I have Sonic's Record! Now) for backup by doing a backup of Catalog from PSE3 first to my hard disc using PSE3 burner and then using 3rd Party burner to copy from my hard disc to a CD/DVD - as Sonic's burner allows multi-session then, hey, I'm home! The problem is that to just burn selected photos from the PSE3 browser (with metadata, etc.) using > File > Burn > Move/Copy, then this allows selection only of my CD/DVD drive as destination and not the hard drive. Hence I can't get to multi-session burning as described above for Backup. If I just use Sonic burner to copy images from the source files on my hard disc (ie. not going though PSE3 at all) then I'm afraid I'll lose metadata, etc. related to images in PSE3. Any suggestions, please?

  • How do I install Photoshop Elements 11 on another computer

In january I purchased and downloaded Adobe Photoshop 11.  Today I purchased a 'better' computer.  How do I get my photoshop program transferred over to my new computer?

If you have retail license then can install upto two computers.
Is this your second instance then you can download trial Photoshop Elements 11 from following link and activate it by putting serial key.

  • Transferring photoshop elements from an old windows7 laptop to a new windows 8.1 laptop

I recently had to upgrade from a laptop running Windows 7 to a whole new laptop running Windows 8.1  I had been running Photoshop Elements only a few months and was still learning all that it can do.
It would be another six months before I can buy a whole new copy of Photoshop Elements.
Is there a way I can upgrade that is do-able without starting over?

The original license is for two installations.
Have you tried installing PSE on your new computer? If so, what happens?

  • Using Adobe Photoshop Elements installed on another volume

I am using Photoshop Elements 6 on a Mac computer running OS 10.9.
I am working on a video project that will not open in OS 10.9. My hard drive is partitioned to include an older Mac OS (OS 10.6) which I boot into when working on the project. This procedure works fine until I need to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to make changes to still photos within the project. The problem is that the Photoshop Elements application that exists within my main hard drive boot volume will not run within the OS 10.6 volume, even though it previously did when OS 10.6 was the current OS.
I get an error message that states that “Licensing for this product has stopped working.” and it says that I need to reinstall the product. For various reasons, I don’t wish to install Photoshop on two separate volumes of the same physical hard drive. There must be a way to make the same application work with both volumes, just as most other applications do. Is there a way to do this?

Here are some excerpts from this web page:
    http://ask.metafilter.com/194687/Unix-vs-Apple-OS
Apple's operating system, which is to say Mac OS X, is actually a specific implementation of UNIX. "UNIX" is a trademark owned by The Open Group, who controls who gets to apply it to their products, based on whether they meet certain requirements (the Single UNIX Specification). Apple got Mac OS X certified a few years ago, meaning that it is actually a UNIX implementation.
Linux, interestingly, isn't a UNIX because it's never been certified by The Open Group and differs in some technical ways from the Single Unix Specification. But from a purely functional standpoint, using a Linux distro probably feels more like a traditional UNIX environment than Mac OS X, mostly because Linux uses XWindows/Xorg in its GUI layer in common with traditional UNIX environments, while Mac OS X has a proprietary GUI (Aqua).

  • Error 16 message when transferring Photoshop Elements to new Mac. What am I doing wrong?

I am attempting to transfer my licensed copy of Elements to a new iMac. I've copied all the relevant files/folders from the old Applications folder to the new, and on trying to open the program on the new machine receive an Error 16 message (uninstall/reinstall). The original applications was a download, so I don't have an install disk. I'm obviously missing some files - any suggestions? Many thanks for any help!

Do as it says - reinstall it properly.

  • Transfering Photoshop Elements 11 Calaglo and files to new PC

I'm need to tranfer my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 catalog and photo files to a new computer.  I've done the full backup of the catalog and photo files.  However, the restore process to the new computer apparently renames the photo file when you do the restore. I would like to maintain the original file names.  How do migrate the catalog and files to a new pc while maintaning the folder structure and the original file names?

To retain original folder structure, while restoring select the option which saying 'Original location' under 'Restore Files and catalog to' section. However I am not sure how the images got renamed. I am not aware of any scenario in which images gets renamed. Could you please confirm that the images are actually shown renamed in a catalog (they may be shown renamed in the backup that you took but once you restore them, images will have the original name)?

  • Transferring photoshop elements 11 from pc to imac.

I have photoshop elements 11 on my old PC and want to migrate that to an Imac.  Can someone tell me how?

If you have the disc there should be a Mac version on it for you to install on the Mac. If you need a download...

  • 150:30 error message with Mac photoshop elements

On my Mac, I moved my photoshop elements application to another storage drive vs. my computer drive and the system now gives me this error.  How do I fix this problem?  All my other programs work off of this drive..

You can never, never, never move an installed copy of PSE. The first thing to do is to try putting it back where it was and see if it works there. Probably won't anymore, but first try that and report back.

  • Why wont Photoshop Elements 8 run on Mac OSX 10.9.4? I keep getting the Error Code 150:30

I recently got a new laptop, an Mac Book Pro OSX 10.9.4, and transfered Photoshop Elements 8 to it along with all my other files and programs. When I tried to run Photoshop Elements 8 it said that files were missing and that I needed to re install it. After I re installed it I got an error message 150:30. After restarting the computer there was no change. I still cannot run Adobe photoshop 8 on my laptop. The fixes on the troubleshooting page dosn't seem relevent to my issue.

Then you will need to download and run this:

after which you can manually remove all the bits you can find. Look not only in applications but in hard drive>library>application support>adobe and in your username>library>preferences. Spotlight will not help with these searches. If you need help finding either of those libraries, post back.

  • How do you do action recording in Photoshop Elements like you can in regular photoshop?

How do you do action recording in Photoshop Elements like you can in regular photoshop?
One of my clients is a club promoter and they would like to put their logo on the bottom left of their photos from their events. Usually I can do this by opening the logo (which has like 50% opacity), copying the logo, recording an action set, pasting the logo i copied to memory into the photo, resize the photo and export and close the photo, save the action set and then just batch- automate and choose all currently opened images to run the action on.
*I mentioned the 50% opacity because I want to put the logo on the photos but not totally hide what's underneath the logo.
How do I do the same with photoshop elements?
    -Line

Just another option that may work for you there are a number of relatively cheap and a couple of freeware programs that are listed here, there are many others I am sure.

I have not used any of these so I can not recommend of course but most have trial versions.

  • Transfering tags from Album 2.0 to Photoshop Elements 9.0

I'm trying transfer my pictures and tags to a new computer.  the old platform was Win XP with Photoshop Album 2.0 (PA2) and the new computer is Win 7 64bit with Photoshop Elements 9.0. (PE9)
So far I have been successful in moving the photos to a directory on the new computer and I can view the photos in PE9.  But the tags did not transfer to the new catalog.
I must be missing something basic.  Is there an additional file that needs to be transfered to make the old tags work on PE9?
    Looking forward to anyone's suggestions.
    Cheers,
    Andy

In theory, yes you can transfer tags from PSA2 to PSE9, however because of the large distance between the versions, sometimes the method fails.
The preferred method is to convert the PSA2 catalog file to PSE9. To do this, you need to create a backup using PSA2 (File->Backup Catalog), and then move everything from this backup to the new computer, launch PSE9, and then File->Restore Catalog. As I said, sometimes with older versions of PSE/PSA, the method fails, you won't know until you try it.
Another possibility (not really sure if PSA2 had this capability) is to have PSA2 write the tags to the individual photo files, then copy all the photos to the new computer and import to PSE9.
