Transfering Pics From Broken Pre
I dropped my Pre in a drink and fried the screen. I now have a new one and am did the backup. It did retrieve all my apps and contacts, however, it did not restore my pictures. The phone works, but i have no way of seeing the screen.
Question is: How can i retrieve all my pictures from the broken phone and either move them to my computer or my new Pre?
You can directly transfer photos and videos via WiFi between the iDevices, PCs, and Macs with an App like Photo Transfer.
See: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photo-transfer-app-easily/id365152940?mt=8
Or you can upload the photos and videos to the Dropbox service using the Dropbox App on the iDevice, PC, or Mac and download them to the another device using the Dropbox App on that device.

Hi, on a new MBPR 13, I transferred pics from my Samsung Tracfone smartphone using AndroidTransferFile app, worked good. My Samsung Galaxy Tab will not transfer with ATF, tried Samsung Kies also no luck, any ideas? Thanks...
Today I downloaded a new version of Kies, 3.1.0.15042_6, and it seemed to work fine. I was able to backup my Note 3 running Lollipop with no hesitation. Files transferred to my Mac running Yosemite, OS X 10.10.3, easily. The download is available at http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

Date issue while transfering pics from macbook to external drive
Hello
I am transferring pictures from my Macbook to an external hard drive and my issue is that the date of the picture (date of creation/modified) is being replaced by the date of the transfer… So let say that all my 2013 pictures have now the date of today – 19th June 2014. I tried to drag the pics as well as to export them but I am getting the same issue. I am doing transfers regularly and it is the first time I encounter this issue. Funnily enough it works when I drag one picture at a time but not for more than 3 pictures – very weird. Your help will be very appreciated !There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export.
However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app. -
where did my pics go. Transferred 40-50- pic from camera memory card to Mac via slot; lost pics on memory card and unable to find anywhere in Mac. May have gone to Open Office as Data . Is that possible and if so can I get pics back or if not so ,where could they be????
First place to check is in the iPhoto library. If the images were imported there then they will be visible in the previews created.
The physical location of image files in iPhoto is quite buried in folders within folders. So, if you want to copy them then select all of the ones needed from the previews and copy from iPhoto to a new location, preferably a new folder in the Pictures folder.
The other app that might have transferred the files is Image Capture. It would download files from cards or cameras. Launch this app and look in the preferences to see the default location of transferred files. -
Transferring pics from macbook pro to iphone
Hi,
I'm trying to send pics from the laptop to the iphone. I read how to get the pics from the phone to the laptop but how do I get pics from the laptop to the iphone? An easy way to do it is via iTunes and iPhoto. First, create an album in iPhoto called "iPhone". Put the images you want to go onto your iPhone in this album. In iTunes under the Photo tab, check the box next to your iPhone album in order to sync it. The next time you sync your iPhone the images will be transferred over and you can access them via the Photos application.

I have plugged in my camera and all the new photos have loaded. In iPhoto there was a button to import all or import new photos and I see those buttons at the top of the screen in Photo, but they are greyed out. How do I import my photos from my camera?? Thank yoU!!
Export the pics from iPhoto to the desktop. Connect the camera. If it's anything except a Canon and some models of Kodak, then it will show up on the desktop. Drag the photos to the disk icon for the camera.
IF it is a Canon, then you'll need to put the card from the camera into a USB Card Reader to get it to show on the Desktop.

Transferring pics from old iPhone?
How do you transfer pics from an old iPhone to a new iPhone?
Hello TNY77
You would need to copy the pictures to your computer and then sync them to your new iPhone. You can also sync them using iCloud and Photo Stream. The articles below will assist with all options.
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

iTunes: Syncing photos

Transferring pics from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 6
Having troubles doing a simple import of pics that went from camera to my laptop (iPhoto 8), burnt them to cd then tried to import into G5 (iPhoto 6). This should not be an issue right (the import of iPhoto 8 pics into iPhoto 6)? Is there a way to burn or on the import that should make this easy? Help! Thank you in advance...
mm
how did you burn the disk? Using the Share -> Burn command will be problematic as v6 canot open a v7 library, and that's what that command does. Export the pics to the Finder and burn them with the Finder, see if they will import.

Transferring pics from my pc formatted external HD to my new mac
So this is my first mac and I had all my pics on my pc and I figured i could just put them on a external HD and than just drag them onto my mac. well i was wrong. none of the pics can open and when i go to look at the pics on my pc they dont even show up. Its like they got deleted when i look at them on my pc. when I open those folders on my mac it just gives me an icon that just says "Thumbs". so i have no idea what to do.
Hi, dglad86.
so now i can never look at them again is what you mean?
Not at all. Unless you took the trouble to erase the pictures from your PC, they're still on it, and you can look at them on it any time you like.
Your problem apparently is that you didn't properly copy them from the PC to your external hard drive, and as a result, what was on your external drive wouldn't open on your Mac. We don't have any idea exactly how you tried to copy the pictures to the external drive, so we can't guess what you did wrong. But it should be a simple matter for you to locate your pictures in Windows Explorer, drag-copy them to a folder on the external drive (which does not remove them from the PC), and then drag-copy them from the external drive to a folder on your Mac's desktop (which does not remove them from the external drive). If you are instead trying to drag pictures from the window of an application running on the PC, there's no telling what you're actually copying: perhaps only thumbnails in a format that's unique to that application and won't open on the Mac.

Transfering pics from text messages to computer
Hello , I have a Treo 680, and I and very new to all this PDA stuff. I have received some pics in a text message. I would like to view these on my PC, how do I do this.
Thanks in advance.
Don
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)Well, I am guessing that each carrier must have software that works for their particular phone set. I tried the suggestion the person was given for their Sprint Palm and didn't work for me. I spoke to a friend who has a Palm with Sprint and she said that is how she is able to save her pix. Well as I said after pouring thru a gazillion searches on google I finally found one that worked and here is what I have to do:
1. Hilight the message
2. Click on "Chat"and select "Message Details" then
3. Click on "Message" and it gives you the option to "Save"
It worked and I am now able to save in whatever folder I want to send the pix to and they then sync to my desktop.
Had to work a little for it but it worked
Thanks and hope this helps others.

Transferred pics from iPhoto, now every time connect iPod iPhoto launches
And i don't want it to. I got the photos I wanted from iPhoto onto my iPod, but now every time I connect my iPod Touch to my MBPro iPhoto launches. Please help me make this stop. Went through everything in Prefs for both programs, to no avail.
Thanks in advance!1. It will only happen when there are photos in the "Saved Photos" folder in Photos on the iPod. You can empty that folder and it will stop launching iPhoto.
2. You can turn this off from Image Capture or iPhoto Prefs. But turning this off will also prevent iPhoto from launching when you connect a camera or SD card.
Preferences (in iPhoto) -> General (at the top) -> Conecting Camera opens -> and click on no application
OR
Preferences (in Image Capture) -> When a camera is connected: select no application -
