  • Why does my iPhoto quit unexpectedly when transferring pics to 32gb memory stick

why does my iphoto quit unexpectedly when transferring pics to a 32gb memory stick at the same place each time?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Today I downloaded a new version of Kies, 3.1.0.15042_6, and it seemed to work fine.  I was able to backup my Note 3 running Lollipop with no hesitation.  Files transferred to my Mac running Yosemite, OS X 10.10.3, easily.  The download is available at http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

That's what I'm trying to do, get those pics off my phone, they are taking too much storage space and I can't update my phone because there isn't enough memory.
I know.  That is exactly what I addressed.    The iPhone is not a storage/backup device.
Have you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer?
You can e-mail them to yourself.

  • Since the iTunes update, it no longer works for transfering pics or books to my ipad.

    Hi there!
Just want to transfer an album of photos from iPhotos on my five year old Macbook to my iPad or iPod. It used to be easy!
Instructions say to click on the "photos" icon in iTunes after connecting the iPad to the computer. All I see are the icons for the apps that have been loaded onto the iPad. No "photos" icon. The old iTunes worked well for transfering books and pics from a Macbook to an iPad. The new iTunes doesn't seem to have any functionality, other than backing up downloaded apps.
Wish iTunes had a printed tutorial! Maybe they do? All I see is a video.
    Thanks, anyone!

The Photo tab  .. when you click on your device, in the sidebar, should look like this....

  • Date issue while transfering pics from macbook to external drive

    Hello
I am transferring pictures from my Macbook to an external hard drive and my issue is that the date of the picture (date of creation/modified) is being replaced by the date of the transfer… So let say that all my 2013 pictures have now the date of today – 19th June 2014. I tried to drag the pics as well as to export them but I am getting the same issue. I am doing transfers regularly and it is the first time I encounter this issue. Funnily enough it works when I drag one picture at a time but not for more than 3 pictures – very weird.  Your help will be very appreciated !

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export.
However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Where did my pics go ??? Transferred pics from memory card to Mac Pro and lost pics on memory card and unable to find on Mac

where did my pics go. Transferred 40-50- pic from camera memory card to Mac via  slot; lost pics on memory card and unable to find anywhere in Mac. May have gone to Open Office as Data . Is that possible and if so can I get pics back or if not so ,where could they be????

First place to check is in the iPhoto library. If the images were imported there then they will be visible in the previews created.
The physical location of image files in iPhoto is quite buried in folders within folders. So, if you want to copy them then select all of the ones needed from the previews and copy from iPhoto to a new location, preferably a new folder in the Pictures folder.
The other app that might have transferred the files is Image Capture. It would download files from cards or cameras. Launch this app and look in the preferences to see the default location of transferred files.

  • Transferring pics from macbook pro to iphone

    Hi,
I'm trying to send pics from the laptop to the iphone. I read how to get the pics from the phone to the laptop but how do I get pics from the laptop to the iphone?

An easy way to do it is via iTunes and iPhoto. First, create an album in iPhoto called "iPhone". Put the images you want to go onto your iPhone in this album. In iTunes under the Photo tab, check the box next to your iPhone album in order to sync it. The next time you sync your iPhone the images will be transferred over and you can access them via the Photos application.

  • IPhone 5 - iOS 7: Camera - How do I keep B/W "Tonal" pics as B/W when transferring pics to my computer?

I have an iPhone 5, and recently updated the iOS to 7.04. Very nice.
One of the things I like is the different options now available for the camera, specifically, the Filter.
But after taking the picture in, let's say, the "Tonal" option, it displays that pic in the camera, as a B/W pic.  But . . . when transferring that pic from the phone/camera to the computer, it displays the pic in color???
    What on earth is happening?
    Thanks,
    Donald1937

" iTunes lets me transfer purchases back to the laptop but not non-purchased material (i.e. stuff I imported from CDs I own)."
That is correct.  The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases.  the iphone is not a backup device and does not function as a storage drive.
it has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.n  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • Transferring pics to ipad air

Using iTunes I can transfer a folder of pics OK from laptop to iPad Air.
When I want to transfer another folder of pics using the same method the program deletes the first folder on the iPad!! Why? I would like to have both folders on the iPad.
Hope you understand and I am getting frustrated!!
Thanks for any help you can give me

    Hi Jim
    Many thanks - it worked!
But what a routine we have to go through.
Every time I want to add a folder of pics I appear to have to re-enter every pic I have on the iPad and all from one folder - I could find no way of transferring more than one folder at any one time!
    Oh well, that's life
    Thanks again

  • Transfering pics from text messages to computer

Hello , I have a Treo 680, and I and very new to all this PDA stuff. I have received some pics in a text message. I would like to view these on my PC, how do I do this.

Well, I am guessing that each carrier must have software that works for their particular phone set. I tried the suggestion the person was given for their Sprint Palm and didn't work for me. I spoke to a friend who has a Palm with Sprint and she said that is how she is able to save her pix. Well as I said after pouring thru a gazillion searches on google I finally found one that worked and here is what I have to do:
    1. Hilight the message
    2. Click on "Chat"and select "Message Details" then
    3. Click on "Message" and it gives you the option to "Save"
It worked and I am now able to save in whatever folder I want to send the pix to and they then sync to my desktop.
Had to work a little for it but it worked
Thanks and hope this helps others.

  • Transferring pics in the nano, tutorial didnt help.

I got my ipod nano about 3 days ago and so far everything about it is just superb, except for the complications im getting with trying to transfer pics into it. I followed the tutorial step by step and watched itunes update my nano after i synchronized it with my folder full pics. The problem is that when i eject the ipod from itunes and disconnect it from my PC as directed, the ipod's photo menu doesnt show any pictures. It just shows "slideshow settings". I would appreciate any help from anyone. Thank You.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Click the iPod icon in iTunes when the iPod appears under the source pane in iTunes (Click "name's" iPod)
Does it say there are any photos on it?

  • Transferring pics from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 6

Having troubles doing a simple import of pics that went from camera to my laptop (iPhoto 8), burnt them to cd then tried to import into G5 (iPhoto 6). This should not be an issue right (the import of iPhoto 8 pics into iPhoto 6)? Is there a way to burn or on the import that should make this easy? Help! Thank you in advance...
    m

    m
how did you burn the disk? Using the Share -> Burn command will be problematic as v6 canot open a v7 library, and that's what that command does. Export the pics to the Finder and burn them with the Finder, see if they will import.

  • Transferring pics from camera

I have plugged in my camera and all the new photos have loaded. In iPhoto there was a button to import all or import new photos and I see those buttons at the top of the screen in Photo, but they are greyed out. How do I import my photos from my camera?? Thank yoU!!

Export the pics from iPhoto to the desktop. Connect the camera. If it's anything except a Canon and some models of Kodak, then it will show up on the desktop. Drag the photos to the disk icon for the camera.
IF it is a Canon, then you'll need to put the card from the camera into a USB Card Reader to get it to show on the Desktop.
