Transfering project from development to staging

Hello Everybody,
I have developed one software component in one track. Now, i want to move this develeopment to from development server to test server and then to production server.
For this, what all care i have to take in order to move whole development properly.
This development includes some java tables, EJBs and webdynpro applications.
What should be order of transfering to test and production system considering all dependencies?
Regards,
Bhavik

Hello Everybody,
I have released nine activities for Java dictionary tables dc seperately.
Then i have clubed rest of the Java dictionary dc activities into single request and then released.
In consolidation tab of CMS of transport studio, I selected all these release activities and imported into assembly tab. But, it failed showing that Assembly failed.
I went to the log and it was saying that DC is broken.
it means Dc cannot build by CBS properly.
What should be the reason behind this?
Application is working perfectly on Development environment.
Thanks in advance,
Bhavik

  • How to do Migration of OWSM policy from development to staging

The technical document for OWSM states that it
Supports migration of policy from development to staging, and then on to full-blown production, but there is no clear cut strategy given for the same in any of the documents. Can some body help me out in finding this info anywhere ? If somebody has implemented the same can the strategy to migrate the policy in OWSM from development to staging be shared ? Thanks in advance for the same

    Hi Bhuvi,
We certainly had discussion with Oracle and thought about this at the very beginning of our implementation. And the answer is there is no clean way to do this in current release. So our SOP is manual process. You may have some help with Policy Templates.
What we also heard is there will be some significant changes to WSM in r11 in terms it's metadata and support for WS-Policy standard. So we hope those changes are for better and they address the migration of service policies across environments in r11.

  • Transfering Projects from a laptop

    Good Day
    I am running apreture 1.5.
Wondering what is the best way to transfer a project from a laptop to my main Aperture library on my desktop and make sure all the meta data and keywords/ratings remain intact.
What I have been doing is dragging the project from my laptop on to a external hard drive and then importing the project into my desktop main library. Is this the best way. Would this move the masters and not just create referenced files in my main library?
    Thanks for the help, Shane

I follow everything said here but have question about afterl the project is imported to the desktop.
The project I imported used managed files on my laptop.
I exported (checking consolidate images), and imported, but when the project was imported to the desktop all files were put in the desktop library. There were no longer any managed files in that project!
I realize I can "relocate masters," but are those relocated masters actually REMOVED from the library by using, or are they merely copied to the new location?
My aim is to keep my library as small as possible.
    Thanks

  • Transfering project from GB3 to LP8 halfway though tracking?

I have tracked the drums for two songs in Garageband 3. I have transferred the GB project to LP. I now want to move on with tracking the additional instruments in Logic.
My question is regarding bit resolution. The drums were tracked in Garageband 3 so they were recorded in 16 bit even though my interface - the firepod - is capable of 24 bit recording. If I move on tracking in Logic I will be recording in 24 bit. Are there going to be any hang ups doing the rest of the tracking in the higher resolution?
    TIA

    Hi there,
Logic can only work with one bit depth/sampling rate per project. So, anything you import will be automatically converted to the project settings (in your case 24 bit). This conversion is automatic and, despite the conversion, it is extremely unlikely that you will hear any reduction in quality as a result of the conversion.
Don't worry - just do it. This is a common enough occurence, particularly when using files brought in from other studios/producers.
    Have fun!

  • Need information on transferring project from one Mac to another

I just returned from a trip, during which I started and added photos to an Aperture project on my MB Air.  When I got home and started up my MacPro after the month's absence I was surprised to see the same project appear on my desktop.  I thought I understood that Photo Stream/iCloud simply "shared" the month's photo stream between devices and computers, but was not aware that a project would also appear on each computer.
The photos were actually added physically to only the MB.  Question:  Does the project that appears on my desktop actually contain all of the photo files and information downloaded to the desktop?  Or, are they simply in the "cloud" somehwere with a link in Aperture?
Also, if they are not physically on my desktop, how would I get them there wihtout actually importing every SD card again?  Thanks!

Unless you actually imported them into the library on the desktop system they are only in the photo stream (and on the Air)
You can do one of two things:
You can import them from the photo stream. Make a project in the library on the desktop and drag the images from the photo stream to that project.
Or else export the projects you added the images to on the Air as a new library, copy that library over to the desktop and import it into the library on the desktop.
The advantage to doing it this way is if you have made any adjustments to the images or added metadata then that will be added to the library on the desktop. If you copy from the photo stream you will only get the originals

  • New User Question:  Transferring Project from PC to Mac

    Hello All:
I'm hoping someone can give me a little advice. I just made the switch to Mac last week and I'm struggling a bit.
I have a large (full length feature film) project that I had been working on using a PC (Pinnacle Studio). The editing was 90% complete. However, it became necessary at this point to switch over to the Mac.
I rendered the project as an AVI file and was able to open it using Final Cut Express. However the guy at the Mac store told me that I would lose some quality doing it that way and that the best thing to do would be to re-capture the footage from the DV tapes directly into the Mac.
Okay. So here's my first question: Is there really no other way to do this without losing video quality? (It would mean a major set-back in our schedule and many, many hours of re-editing what has already been done.)
If I must re-capture the video, then I will do so - but I just want to make sure it's the right thing to do before I commit myself.
    I'd appreciate any advice.

Thank you for responding Tom. I was pretty much resolved to doing that anyway. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't another way.
I have another question - I captured my first DV tape to the Mac.
During capture, the process stopped at every individual shot and went back frame by frame "locating timecode break". Once the tape was done - it automatically separated each shot into individual clips.
This is fine. But the problem is that there are now several seconds missing from the beginning of each shot. Some of the shorter clips are only a couple frames long because the majority of video was not captured.
How do I tell Final Cut to simply capture the entire tape as one long clip? I can separate the shots myself.
I appreciate the help - and sorry if I'm asking really obvious questions.

  • Getting Error while transfering projects from After effects to premier pro?

    Video Filter missing: AE.ADBE FreePin3
This is the error i get when i try to export and open After Effects projects in to Premier? Im working with the puppet tool and i want to export my project to premier pro cs3 so i can further edit it there. Im using After Effects Cs3 and Premier Pro CS3? please help

Well, does Premiere have a "Puppet Tool"? Absolutely not. Therefore how do you expect this feature to come over to PPro? Sorry, but that's simply impossible. You will have to render the project or use Dynamic Link from withing Premiere ("Import After Effects Composition), not the other way around.

  • Transferring project from a lap top (iMovie) to an iMac (Final Cut Express)

I have a partially completed video project on a Powerbook G4 lap top - using iMovie. I wish to transfer it to my iMac so that I can import it to FCE. What is the best way please to do the transfer? I have the computers connected via a Firewire cable and can see the lap top on the screen of the iMac. Should I create a Quick Time Movie on the laptop (using "best quality"), then export it to the iMac, and finally import it to FCE. Or is there a better way?

I can't tell you how to transfer the project, but I would like to say that mixing iMovie projects and FCE ones is not a good idea.
It can be done, but it is likely to cause problems.
It is always best to stick to one application.
It should be possible to recapture the footage from the camera in FCE and completely redo the video.
This will not take as long as you think as you know exactly which scenes and effects etc. you need, so it will be much quicker than your first attempt in iMovie.
Making a QT Movie as you suggest should be OK but all the transitions etc. will be "embedded" and you won't be able to readjust them.

  • I transfered a project from one mac to another and imovie won't open the rcproject on the 2nd computer

How do I get the new computer to open the transferred project to continue editing?

The project file is sort of like a text file ( a hexadecimal text file) that provides instructions to how to put the project together. These instructions are run when you SHARE the project using the Share menu.
The rcproject file does not contain any of your video footage. Those are all in the Event folders. It also does not contain your Photos. Those are in iPhoto, or Aperture, or wherever you keep them.
    A project might say,
Go get clip A from Event 1 and start at frame 32 and end at frame 500. Then overlay a title on it and crank up a music track that you can find at this path in iTunes. Now go get this other clip....
That is why project files are very small.
That is also why it is very important to do all moves within iMovie. If you move an Event folder somewhere using the Finder, the Project file still thinks that all the clips are at the original place, so now they can't find them.
The best way to move the Event folders is to attach an external drive. The external drive must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled). In iMovie, click VIEW/EVENTS BY DISK. Now you should see your disk drive listed in the Event Library.
The most foolproof method is first to hold down the Command key and drag the small icon for your project in the Project Library List to the small icon for the external disk drive in the Project Library List. (Note: A simple drag will COPY. Holding Command down as you drag will MOVE).
Now, select this project file on your external drive. Now click FILE/CONSOLIDATE MEDIA. Now you can copy over all Event folders referenced in the Project, as well as copies of any music, photos, or other project assets.
You can plug this drive into the other Mac and edit. Or if you prefer, you can reverse the process by Command Dragging the Project (in iMovie ) to the internal drive, and then selecting it and FILE/CONSOLIDATE MEDIA.

  • Multiple projects and their promotion from Develop to Test to Production

A customer has an interConnect infrastructure running about 5 projects. Each project has a Development, a Test, an Acceptance and a Production environment.
This basically works, but is really cumbersome to maintain.
They want to reduce the number of Interconnect installations as much as possible to ease maintenance. The iConnect version is 10gR1.
As far as I can see there are two options:
    1) Put all projects into a single repository. You'd end up with only 4 InterConnect environments (Development, Test, Acceptance and Production)
    2) Put all hub schemas into a single DB
The first one is obviously our favourite, but can you promote a single project to a new environment (say, from Development to Test) without affecting the other projects in the same repository? How difficult (if possible) is this? What are the possibilities and risks?
What are the possibilities for option number 2?
I hope anybody can give me some advice.
    Arjan

Its slightly confusing about having multiple projects, the reason being the way Interconnect works is that it has a single database repository and when you create a project it is just a view on that repository. Therefore a project and a repository are essentially one and the same.
Therefore it would imply that if you have 5 separate projects then you also have 5 separate repository instances.
    In terms of your options:
    1) is the general way that most projects work. Lets say you have DEV, SYS, UAT, PROD. Therefore you'd generally have a repository instance for each env, therefore 4 repository instances, HUBDEV - for DEV env, HUBSYS for SYS env etc... These repositories would usually be in separate Oracle Instances although they could be on the same servers. Therefore the Hub schema for all, would be the normal one installed by the product, OAIHUB904. Then you would also have a single project for each repository. This repository would hold all the metadata for all your interfaces that go though this HUB instance.
As interfaces move through the various phases then you migrate between the different repositories, to move stuff from DEV to SYS etc...
    2) From my understanding, this is not much differnet to the above except you want to hold all the Hub schemas in a single database instance. This is possible by creating each schema with a differnet name, OAIHUB904DEV, OAIHUB904SYS etc... and you would need to change the necessary infrastructure ini files to use these new names. With this setup you would still have 1 project per repository but it would just point to the relevant schema.
Let me know if you have any more queries.
    Regards
    Stuart.

  • Project environments (development, staging, production) and modular application development

    Hey,
seeing the early status for the Module/Integration-libraries, have any of you already derived a way to handle team-development for modular projects? Especially with different environments for the application to run in, requiring parameters (like the server to communicate to) to be dependent on the environment.
My "perfect solution" would include local development using Flash Builder 4 and the integrated facilities to run an application as a "Web application" using an embedded Tomcat in Flash Builder 4 as the backend to the UI/Flex project as well as staging/production environments where the compiled flex-project resides on the same machine as the backend that it's talking to.
Basically my question has two parts:
How do you configure your application (if at all) to change central parameters for your application according to the environment (e.g. the server url, or the path to modules which are loaded at runtime)
How do you integrate that into the local Flash Builder workflow, which launches your application using a local URL
I'd love to hear your experiences with this, I'll report back if I established a structure I think worth sharing
    best Jonas
P.S.: we're using Maven/Hudson for building and continuous integration, too, so those have some requirements themselves

What we do usually is the following :
    * we have a <contextRoot>${my.web.context}</contextRoot> parameter in the flex app  pom.xml file
    * we have linked resources in FlashBuilder to target and compile in the local webapp deployement folder

  • Moving project from one VSO to another VSO and transferring ownership

    Hello,
I want to understand if we can move a project from VSO owned by one company to VSO owned by other company.
also is there any risk of moving and any data would be lost?
Is there any procedure that i need to follow and take care
    Kindly assit.
    Regards
    Abhijeet

    Hi Abhijeet,
If you want to move team project from one VSO account to another VSO account, then you can use the tools that Vishal mentioned above. If you want to move Visual Studio projects under team projects to another VSO account, then you can unbind Visual Studio
to source control and add to team project in another VSO account.
For changing the VSO account ownership, you can check this
    page for more details.

  • As copying a project from a development repository to one of production

I have a repository where and configure an entire project, now I require it to another repository of production, as not to make a fresh start in the new repository.

So Production work repository already exists ?
If yes, just simply export the project from dev & import to prod in duplication mode.
