Transfering registration to a new owner

I have recently upgraded to 3rd generation Nano and have given my old nano to my mum but do not know how to register her as the new user, so currently it is still registered in my name. Can anyone help please??

Click here and register the iPod; you may also want to select the iPod in the iTunes source list, click on its name, and type a new name.

  • Transferring registration information to new owner?

Is there a quick and easy way of transferring the license ownership of one user to another? I cannot use my copy of Final Cut Express due to an underperforming Macbook. I've already registered it but want to transfer ownership. How does one do this with an Apple product?

To begin with, you don't have to register it and registering gives you no benefits.
However, if the new owner wishes to register, all they do is hit the registration button and they will become the newly registered owner. The previous owner's registration will be deleted as it is overwritten by the new one.

How do you transfer registration to a new owner for an iMAC G5, 1.9 GHZ Power PC G5 with OSX Version 10.5.8.

You don't really need to, as long as the new owner knows the serial number, that's all s/he needs.  I do hope, by the way, that you have delivered the install discs along with the computer.

  • Transferring AppleCare to a new owner

I purchased an MBP from the Apple store around August when my state held a tax holiday, but due to indecision ended up not using the product at all. I know this is going to sound pretty weird, but it's sitting in my home sealed in its original packaging. I'm considering selling it on eBay, and I'm wondering if the new owner will have just one half of the original one year of Apple Care, or if there's a way for them to have a full year since the computer is technically new. Thanks.

Applecare starts from the date of purchase, not from the date that the box is opened.
    Ciao.

  • How do I transfer registration to new owner ?

I am selling my powerbook and need to know how to transfer the registration to the new owner as well as the Quickbooks NUE registration.
    Any help will be apreciated.

Unless you are transferring an APP with your PowerBook, there is nothing you need to do. Of course, it would be a courtesy to the new owner to hand over the original bill of sale/receipt for the PowerBook, but the warranty is dependent on the date of first sale which is attached to the serial number on the machine and not to the machine's original owner.
If you have an APP, you would need to follow the steps delineated in paragraph 6 of the Terms and Conditions:
    6. Transfer of Plan
You may transfer this Plan to a new owner of the Covered Equipment by sending or faxing notice of transfer to AppleCare Administration, P.O. Box 149125, Austin, TX 78714–9125, U.S. (fax number 512–674–8125). You must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial numbers of the Covered Equipment being transferred, proof of purchase of the Plan, and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner.
You would have to read the EULAs for any third-party software to learn how to transfer those items to a new owner.

  • Transfer registration of iPod mini to new owner...

    Hi there-
I just sold my precious blue iPod mini on eBay so I can upgrade to one of the new video iPod video players. When I sold the unit on eBay, I indicated that I would transfer the registration to the new owner.
I said it, but I don't know how to do it. Do they just register the unit and then Apple will send me a confirmation e-mail that someone else is attempting to register the unit?
    Thanks for anyone's help!

  • Transferring applecare to new owner

How do I transfer Applecare (MBP is less than 1 yr old) and Applecare was bought with new MPB)  to new owner who bought MBP ?
    Please advise

From the applecare terms and conditions:
    6. Transfer of Plan
Subject to the restrictions set forth below, you may make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your rights under the Plan to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer must include the original Proof of Purchase, the Plan's Certificate and all of the Plan's packaging material, including printed materials and these Terms and Conditions; (b) you notify Apple of the transfer by sending, faxing or e-mailing notice of transfer to Apple Inc., ATTN: Agreement Administration, MS: 217AC, 2511 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758, U.S., fax number 916-399-7337 or [email protected], respectively; and (c) the party receiving the Plan reads and agrees to accept the Terms and Conditions of the Plan. When notifying Apple of the transfer of the Plan, you must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial numbers of the Covered Equipment being transferred and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner.

  • Transfering a Quicktime Registration to a new computer.

I have had Quicktime Pro 7.2 on my windows laptop for almost a year now and it has been working fine. i recently purchased my very first mac and I love it. But I'm trying to transfer my QT Pro registration onto my new mac and it says that it is an Invalid Registration. I've tried it numerous times now over the course of two days in every possible configuration and nothing is helping. Anybody have any advice?

You need to buy a new registration for the Mac. These codes/keys for Qt Pro aren't cross platform. Meaning a key for a windows Os won't work on a mac. And Vice-versa...

  • I sold ipad2 verizon 3g but new owner can't register it under his name

I bought an ipad2 with verizon 3g. I never used the verizon connection nor ever registered it with verizon. I sold the ipad to a guy. He is trying to register it to verizon so he can use their 3g network but it tells him that it is still registered to me. I spoke with verizon and they said it is not registered, and never was, under my verizon account. I caled Bestbuy, where I purchased it and they said to contact apple. I have tried repeatedly to contact apple to change the registration and all I have been told was the new owner just needs to log into register.apple.com.  He has already done that before even contacting me. Any way to transfer ownership of the ipad to someone else so they can use it?

Yes, he went to a Verizon store. They were the one that told him to contact me to "disconnect" my service.  I told him not only did I not have service on it, I never registered it - with Verizon or apple. Verizon says they cannot even locate the product in their system to do anything if they could.
If anyone has been successful at this I would appreciate any advice. Flaming isn't proving your superiority in any way.

  • ? about transferring Intel iMac to new Intel iMac

I'm considering a new iMac and am trying to find out if there is a way to duplicate my old drive onto the new drive (instead of using "migration assistant").
Can I create a full disk image of the old computer, then somehow transfer it to the new one? When I used migration assistant when going from a MacbookPro to my current iMac, I noticed some things did not transfer, transferred incorrectly, lost settings, etc. (Sorry, I can't recall any specific examples right now.)
Also, once I have my new computer all set up, what steps do I need to perform to bring my old iMac back to "out-of-the-box" condition? I know I'll need to use the original install DVD (can I format the drive during an install?), but at what point do I stop the setup? In other words, I don't want to go as far as entering any info during setup (language, user name, etc.). That would be for the new owner to do. I want it to be exactly like I got it from Apple.
    Thanks,
    Michael

This is not advisable. Your new iMac may require specific drivers that are not present on the older iMac. Cloning the disk, as you suggest, will probably result in an unstable machine.

I don't think you can do this. You can do an "archive and install" from the DVD and this will reinstall the OS and preserve your data. This is about as close as you can get.

  • How to prepare MacBook for new owner?

I'm selling my Intel MacBook Pro and I would like to restore it to factory-new condition for the new owner.
I know how to install OS X from the included discs, but after the installation it launches right into the first-time setup (name, registration, network configuration, etc.).
I don't want to do this setup — that's information for the new owner to key in. But I see no way to exit out of it gracefully, so should I just power down the machine at this point? I assume the next time it's started (by the new owner) it will simply try the first-time setup again.
Is there a more graceful way to exit the installation and shut down the machine without doing the first-time setup?
    Thanks.

Wow, this is really great. Exactly what I was looking for, except that I'm not sure I have another volume (e.g., FireWire drive) I can boot from to delete the administrator account.
If the timing works out such that my new laptop arrives before I have to ship the old one, then I'll be all set.
    Thanks.

  • Erase and Install.. Is it now ready for new owner?

1 )   Hello, i think i saw the answer to my question in a previous post but as it is the first time i have installed a system i would like to make sure i understand properly. I am preparing a computer for sale or giveaway.  At the end of the installation it carries on to the Welcome /Registration process, i presume it is at that point i stop, which i did, what baffled me was that there was no way to exit the page and no way to shut the computer down. I turned it off at the power button, is it ok now to pull the plug? And when it is turned back on will it start at the Welcome page and the new owner go on from there?
2 )  Before doing the Erase and Install i had a play around with removing my account.  I deleted all private data and browsing history and anything i could find to delete, disabled auto login then i set up a fictitious account and used the admin rights given to that account to remove my proper account. That was all good except when the computer started again it still displayed my name on the panel that comes up saying  e.g  Joe Bloggs computer.   Is there a way to remove my name from that panel ?   The reason i ask is that a computer can be given away with the OS still in it ready to use with previous details removed but the new owner wouldn't want to see a previous owners name come up.( It didn't appear on the accounts page)
The name must  have been put in during the configuration process, how or at what point do i avoid it or perhaps choose just to enter something general such as " my computer" ?    Thanks .

Gidday or i should say good evening.. i didn't leave a computer behind(?)... Before i did the Erase and Install i had as i described it a "play around". I think it was at that point my name still appeared on the start up pane. Then i put the disc in and yes the first time it was just an Upgrade ( i didn't realise) 10.3 to 10.4.  I had a look and found the option to Erase and Install which has been done, it will have erased my name but that wasn't the first question... there was no way to exit the Welcome process so do i just pull the plug (its currently just been turned off at the machine itself)  leaving it at that point of Welcome/ Registration, and is it now ready to go to a new owner?
As to the other query i am just curious to  know if is there a way to remove the name from that pane? I presume i filled in the name somewhere during the Welcome process.
Yes i am aware that recovery can be done and that Erasing etc is the safest way but there was nothing to be of concern on the computer. I wasn't even doing internet banking back on the 10.3.       I have 3 eMacs and will be keeping the other two.

  • Transferring Snow Leopard to new(er) Macbook

Sorry if this question has been answered a million times. Please feel free to direct me, via a link, to an appropriate answer. I need to transfer a retail copy of Snow Leopard from my '06 1.83Ghz Macbook to my new(er) 2008 2.4Ghz Macbook. I plan to swap hard drives. Do I need to and/or will I be able to transfer the Snow Leopard license? How do I go about transferring the license (if it's necessary and/or possible). Thanks for any help. (I have a very tenuous grasp on all computer-related endeavors. Yesterday, I managed to accidentally erase 193GB of music from not one, but two hard drives...ugh)

    Is this Server or Client?
Mac OS client installs to not require a serial number. Apple depends on each individual to honor the license agreement. Meaning that if you only hold a single use license you will only install it on one machine and delete it from others.
If it is Server, then you can enter the server serial in Server Admin. Server will check to see if another copy of the license is running on the LAN. Again, according to the SLA you can only run one instance of a serial number.
Now, if the install is from a Grey OEM disk that shipped with a particular machine, you may have difficulties installing from disk.
What are your plans for the old machine? If you sell it, please be kind to the new owner and include the grey restore / install disks that shipped with it.

  • If i sell my iMac still under warranty can it transfer to the new owner

hello can i transfer a warrenty from one owner to another? iwant to buy a computer and the guy states that i can renew the warrenty, but i talked to mac and they told me that its not transferably but also they were alil weary about my call like i was going to but a stolen mac. I was calling to comfirm how not to buy a stolen imac. thats what i am trying to buy . A new imac 27"   johnny   thanks

If you are asking about AppleCare and if that is transferable, the answer is apparently yes for new purchases at this time (not sure if this same policy was in place when your computer was originally purchased):
"With Transfer of Covered Equipment to New Owner. Subject to the restrictions set forth below, you may make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your rights under the Plan to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer includes the original Proof of Purchase, the Plan's Confirmation and all of the Plan's packaging material, including printed materials and these Terms and Conditions; (b) you notify Apple of the transfer by sending, faxing or e-mailing notice of transfer to Apple Inc., ATTN: Agreement Administration, MS: 217AC, 2511 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758, U.S., fax number 916-405-3655 or [email protected], respectively; and (c) the party receiving the Plan accepts the Terms and Conditions of the Plan. When notifying Apple of the transfer of the Plan, you must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial number of the Covered Equipment being transferred and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner."
