Transfering songs - help me

i was using a p2p for downloads, when i bought my ipod i moved file into itunes then to ipod, it all workrd great, so then i thought well i dont need anything in my p2p file so i deleted it, now i cant play songs in itunes cause it cant find them - can i transfer songs out of ipod to itunes? i'm scared to do anything incase i lose all the songs from ipod or itunes updates ipod with blanks - hope this makes sence? thanks

Sorry, but if you synchronized your iPod to an empty iTunes library as I'm guessing you did, the tracks on your iPod are probably gone. You can try a file recovery utility and see if it can recover the tracks, but not having used one on Windows I can't make any recommendations and don't know how well any will work.
For future reference, synchronization between iTunes and an iPod is one way only, from iTunes to the iPod. So if you're connecting your iPod to a fresh, blank copy of iTunes, you cannot let it synchronize automatically or you'll delete all the tracks from your iPod. To prevent this, while connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Another, more complicated, method can be found here if the shortcut won't work for you for some reason.
i always have a hard time opening itunes ???
No idea here without further details as to what you mean.

  • Transferring songs to ipod touch issue... help!

I have a G4 with Leopard - just got the touch - and 80% of the time, when transferring songs over from itunes, it says "incomplete - ipod is not connected" - but it is.
    Drives me nuts!
To get it working, i usually have to reset my mac - then i'll get a few more songs (12-15) before it does it again....
    What's up?

    Ps...
The reason why i havn't switched, and gotten a usb pci 2.0 card, is because i've heard of non stop issues with sleep mode on the G4's that have upgraded to these cards.
I was planning on going into a mac store in early january to look into this exact issue.
Any of your suggested PCI cards not have that issue?

  • My newly transferred songs from my external hard drive to my ipod read as "Other" instead of "Audio" files

      Okay, i need help bad.
Here's the issue. This is my 2nd iPod classic. My first one, which worked beautifully for several years, died. the drive went bad. A sales associate at the Apple Store said it just crapped out (she didn't use those exact words) and my options were to send it out for a new 80G to replace the bad one at $120, or buy a new one, which yielded only one size and one choice for the classic ipod, the 160G. So i sucked it up and bought the 160G. I wanted the extra storage space anyway.
Came home, hooked it up, and new ipod required a newer version of itunes to mount and manage mp3's. it's not iTunes 10, required for sync with iPhone, but newer than what i currently had at hook up, which was some version of 8 or 9. it's now version 9.2.1, to be exact. After installation was complete, iPod mounted and worked with new version of iTunes just fine. Just recently, I connected my external hard drive to my laptop to transfer music i had backed up from my old classic and iTunes. The transfer seemed to work fine, but now with my pod still connected, the newly transfered audio mp3 files are not in my library. The are stored as "Other" under the iPod Summary tab, NOT AUDIO. so i cannot listen to those 14,000 or so songs and albums i just transfered. This is completely frustrating. Can anyone help?? Thanks. How do i convert these to Audio Mp3 files instead of "other" so i can listen and manage in my library, and so they show in the artists menu?? I have "Manually manage songs" checked in the Summary tab. I think it's storing or acting as an external hard drive. Someone help, i'm really ****** off right now. I spent a lot of time d*cking around transferring songs i can't even listen to or make playlists from now. Thanks a lot!

You maybe right, you transfer your 14k songs to your iPod under disk mode, so it don't appear as Audio.
To load your songs into Ipod Audio section, your must load them via iTunes, either Sync or Manually Manage your library, any other way, it just uses up space in the iPod Harddisk, and wont be on your iPod music menu.
    So
    1. Import your 14K songs into the iTunes library first. (read the iTunes help if you need instructions)
    2. You can either Manually manage selected songs from the library or Sync all.
You can delete the songs in the Other section, by going into diskmode, use Finder and delete the 14K songs.
    Good luck!

  • PC crashes when transferring songs to ipod or using itunes..

    1) Issue: When transferring songs to IPOD through the use of a PC(itunes or real player), a blue faulty screen will eventually show with some error and then my computer restarts. I have a bout 3800 songs for a 20GB IPOD and it seems to always stop around 4G when transferring. I tried using the IPOD on another computer and it seems to be fine.
    2) Also, when I play music using iTunes, it causes the PC to crash as well, without the IPOD connected.
During the error report, it usually says there is an error with the Hard Drive(Western Digital 250 SATA 2 hard drive; hard to use a jumper to adjust to the SATA 1 settings of this motherboards) and it couldn’t’ read it for a second. It advises to to a ScanDisk?CHKDSK run, but when I do this(during reboot), it stops in STEP 4 out of 5 at 20-30% and does nothing. Did this for 1 day! Other error reports supposedly report a faulty device driver error and advise to update drivers, but I’ve updates Apple iTunes.
Contacted Hard Drive manufacturer, Western Digital, and they believe it is a controller device driver issue or something related. Tried updating the bios. Tried installing the VIA 4 for 1 drivers and other drivers in the Motherboards Installation CD. Running a Disk Tools before Microsoft even shows itself, reports no errors. However, when you are partially booted and the computer is scheduled to check the disk, there are errors(won’t move.) I see no update for controller device drivers
A3) lso, if I have a USB hard drive connected to the PC(such as an IPOD or external usb hard drive), sometimes the computer switches boot devices(hard drives) and thinks that the IPOD/External Hard drive is the boot device. This is also reflected in the BIOS and the USB connected hard drive replaces my main SATA hard drive(western digital) and my computer doesn’t completely reboot unless I go under the BIOS and change it. It’s weird because I DO NOT CHANGE THE BIOS. For some reason, it changes on its own.
I have no idea what’s going on. Please Help Me.

  • Trouble transferring songs

Hey i have a problem transfering songs from itunes to my ipod. I have the latest version of itunes (12.1) and ipod 5, ios 8.13. whenever i attempt to manually add songs to my ipod, nothing happens. If i drag a single song under the ipod tab, it does its usual flash, but it never shows up on my ipod or recognizes a transfer through itunes. Is there an option in itunes i might've accidiently pressed that caused this? Im not sure how syncing is, but i dont want to because there are many songs i dont want on my ipod that i have on itunes.

wow.. im having the exact same problem.. like songs I have from CDs that I put on iTunes download perfectly fine.. I did everything possible and it still dosn't work.. if you figure it out let me know i have a post asking pretty much the same question. If you figure it out please tell me what you did. Thanks. • Transferring Songs(30GB) in My Mac's HardDisk To My Friend PC's Hard Disk

Transferring Songs(30GB) in My Mac's HardDisk To My Friend PC's Hard Disk?
what are the cable and software I need?

Mac will read drives formatted as FAT32, you could use any USB drive formatted on PC - then just copy over MP3s from your Mac, connect the drive to PC and copy the files again.

  • My recently transferred songs are not playing in my Iphone.

My recently transferred songs are not playing in my Iphone. Even though the files appear to be there, I simply cannot access them. A small circle with a dot appear on the side of each file. What is happening?

Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

  • Transfering songs from ipod to computer

When transferring songs onto my laptop from my Ipod, one song gets hung and stops the whole transfer. Does anyone know what to do?

You need to sign in to itunes, click the Store tab at the top and click "authorize this computer". now try transfering purchases.
Here is a easy guide about [how to transfer songs from iPod to computer|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_copy_music_from_iPod_toPC].

  • IPod gets read/write error halfway through transfering songs

Ok, I posted the other day about a read write error on my iPod. I got it replaced. New one didn't work on my home computer but I did get it up and running on my laptop at work. When I got home I plugged the iPod into my home computer. Everthing was fine (I have it on manually update). When I tried to put music files on my iPod (drag and drop) I did one and it worked fine. Then I highlighted a group and dragged it over. They were transfering. Then halfway through I got the read write error.
Can anyone explain why this would happen? Why did it work for a little bit and then refuse to keep transfering songs? Do I have to do them one at a time when I manually update? I basically had to restore the iPod when I got to work this morning. Things are fine now. It would be a pain (but still bearable) if I can't use my iPod at home.

Can anyone explain why this would happen? Why did it work for a little bit and then refuse to keep transfering songs?
The problem could be one of mnay mentioned in the link below. A complete Reformat of the IPOD using Windows would be a great start and then "restore" the IPODs software. The drive on the IPOD seems to get corrupted at some point and this is the best way I have found to get rid of the problem.
