Transfering songs over on iPod with iTunes = Freeze

I recently got a new laptop with Windows Vista running on it. I downloaded iTunes to be able to transfer songs from my laptop to my iPod. Everything worked fine as it has done on my old laptop with XP until one day when I tried to delete songs from my iPod or disconnect my iPod from my iTunes it started to totally freeze and just "not answering". I tried to use my old laptop again to transfer songs and the same happened.
The half-transfered songs I have on my iPod isn't working. They are there, but nothing happens when I click play on them.
Does anyone have a similar problem?
My iPod is an iPod Color 20GB bought 2 years ago or something. Currently have around 3000 songs on it.

I accidently erased a lot of the songs on my I-pod (when trying to add a playlist, it was added and everything else erased). Upon attempting to transfer songs back, the sync froze (many times). Luckily I have a MacBook and was able to transfer my songs back to my IPod with that. The ITunes in the Mini has been updated, I tried using another port, I restarted the computer many times; it will start to sync then it will freeze, usually at the same place. What's up with that?

  • Transferring songs back from iPod onto iTunes

I recently had my computer stolen. I now have a new one and want to transfer my music back from my iPod? I have authorised the computer in iTunes so I can see the music but how to transfer it (and it also keeps telling me certain purchased items on the iPod couldn't be transferred to the iTunes library as it's not authorised)

don't worry man, i had itunes wipe out my whole library adn i transfered back from my ipod. What you first have to do, is allow yourself to view hidden files.
My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > click View Hidden Files/Folders
then plug in your ipod, and close minimize itunes out of the way. Next open up "My Computer" and find which port your ipod connects through K:/ or something other than C:/ and D:/ until you find one that has all these hidden folders with random number letter combos. Right Click the first folder containing the rest of the folders and copy it you your desktop. Next bring itunes back up and
Itunes > File > Add folder to library
add the file you put on your desktop, and most of your music should come back.
    Than backup your computer

  • Transfering songs/videos from iPod to iTunes...?

Until recently I have been using iTunes software on our home pc. A few weeks ago, however, I purchased a laptop and have intstalled iTunes on it. However, I havent been able to find a way to get the songs and videos on my ipod to my new iTunes program... Is that even possible??

You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, not all will copy videos, iPodCopy will but I'm not sure what others do.

  • How do you (or can you) play songs from your ipod on itunes?

Im trying to play my the songs on my iPod with itunes that I just installed on my friends laptop. The problem is, the place where it says Charles's (me) Laptop, the songs are all grayed out and I cant select any of them.

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. Check out the links below and make the change on your own computer before you connect it to the second one:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
    Some additional info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • When I try to sync my iPod with iTunes I can't because it says it's over capacity. It's not. It's a 16 GB iPod, it's only 105 songs on there. No movies or pictures or such. Anybody got a word of advise?

Anybody got a word of advise? I've tried resetting the iPod but get the message that it's not possible cause i'm not connected to internet. I am though. Tried managing music manually. I've tried all the usual stuff.

Go to Settings > General > Usage and see how much is shown available and how much is in "Other".

  • My laptop recently crashed and is unsalvagable with my itunes library on it.  My ipod touch has all of my music still on it.  Is there a way that I can put the songs on my ipod onto itunes on my new computer??

My laptop recently crashed and is unsalvageable with my itunes library on it.  My ipod still has all of my music still on it.
Is there a way that I can put the songs on my ipod onto itunes on my new computer without loosing them or having to buy them all over again?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Unfortunely, all movies and songs purchased in iTunes will be lost...you'll have to purchase them again! Any applications you've purchased, you can download again for free.
Music Rescue is a program you can use to transfer any and all data (music, movies, pictures..) from your iPod to your computer, and iTunes.

  • How can i manually remove songs from Ipod with itunes 11?  Please Help

I am trying to remove a single song from my kids Ipod 5th gen ipod with itunes 11.0.1.2. With older versions of itunes i was able to right click on the content that i wanted to remove and select delete.  I for the life of me can not figure out how to remove content with itunes 11.  i have a lot of apple devices , iphone, ipad, ipod touch, and so on and so on. I am so frusterated that i feel like thowing it all in the garbage and starting over with another product.

Everything works the same in iTunes 11 as in previous versions.

I have continuously over the last 6 months struggled with syncing my iphone and ipod with itunes  The app continually crashes during the picture import.  AND by the way it takes 10-15 minutes before it even attempts to import photos.  The screen says importing photoes but doesnt try to optimize or anything for 10 minutes.  I have a 3gs with 16Gb so its not a cheap phone.  I have 10Gb free.  I have 6600 photoes.  This is very frustrating and undermines my confidence in your products.  My ipod is an ipod 4 with 16Gb also.  It does the exact same thing to it.  The last time, I had to import photoes a few at the time and with it taking 10-15 minutes each time for 6600 photos it is a long frustrating process.  But it will import every photo a few at a time.  The error message is just that itunes has stopped working.  no hint as to why. AND of course, my phone is out of use for the entire time.  You guys must not want to believe ur phones are a necessary tool...or maybe you dont want the consumer to believe it is.  I have tried to find solutions on your website as well as through other 3rd party communities.  Ultimately they were of no use.  I stumbled onto my solution by accident since Im a bit of a computer geek...a semi-geek.

I have this issue too, I went into my Windows event viewer. (should have looked at this a year ago when this started)

basically whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4G 64GB it crashes iTunes when it begins the pictures. if im lucky ill get 4-5 on there before it stops responding. its not my system or anything im running win7x64 8GB DDR3 ram (Corsair XMS3) AMD FX Eight core processor.
It is silly that iTunes cannot add pictures to apple devices. it shatters whatever incline I may have to buy apple products. knda like the Airport Extreem router my dad bought the new firmware, caused my router to not function... why release firmware that breaks a product. -_- <-- off topic but still

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

each time i try syncing my ipod with itunes, it freezes itunes and i end up having to shut down my computer.  This started happening after the latest download and my latest purchase.  The latest purchase doesn't show up on my iPod and itunes freezes at synching step 2 on 2.  Any suggestions?

You should Reset your iPod, by
    1. Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 Secs till the Apple Logo comes ON.
    2. Disconnect the sync cable.
    3. Check the iPod Welcome screen, select language, go to menu (if you are lucky, your music are still on the iPod.)
if your iPod doesn't show the Welcome screen, bring it to Apple Store.
If the above is okay, (can see Menu but no Music)
    4. Close iTunes and Reboot your PC.
    5. Start iTunes
    6. Connect the iPod to the Sync cable.
    7. if iTunes ask to Restore, please do so.
    8. Sync your iPod. ( I would advise you to disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus program when doing this.)
    Good Luck.

  • How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

Do you mean remove them from the iPod or transfer them back to your computer? You can't transfer photo's back to the computer with iTunes. To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
To remove individual photos from an iPod you delete or remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synch photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," delete or remove them from My Pictures.

My problem is whenever I'm syncing the iPod and iTunes freezes between the 250- 300th song... • Apple won't help with iTunes freezing Problem!

I just spent ove 37 minutes on the phone last night with Appple (I don't) Care telephone support. The rep couldn't help me and would not transfer my call to a supervisor because "Supervisors do NOT talk to customers." I'm at a loss. I can't believe I paid for the Protection and Service Plan. I've always been a fan of Apple but now I'm about ready to buy a PC. Can anybody help?
I am running OS 10.3.9 on a G4 machine with 768 MB SDRAM. I downloaded the latest version of iTUNES. I Restored my iPOD twice. (I have a 30 GB Video iPOD). I tried transferring songs over 30 or less at a time. iTunes still freezes. WHen it does freeze, I can't stop the update, I can't Force Quit iTunes and I get stuck with the spinning beachball of death. I actually have to hit the power button to turn of my machine and start over from scratch. I'm about to give up and return my iPOD. Who else has had this problem and did oyu ever get it fixed?

There is no damage to repair. iOS 7 is operating within expected parameters.
The fact that you dislike the new OS is not something Apple "needs" to fix. Personally I like the new design.
iOS 7 has been out for almost a year.   If you did not know what it was going to look like before you updated by now, then its all on you for not doing your research.
And really the colorful icons are your main issue, what are you 5 years old?  Seriously grow up.
Find a yellow note taking App in the App store and move on.
