Transfering the stock of old material

Hi guru's,
Iam transfering the stock from old material to new materialcode w.r.t. order Mvt 261 & then receiving it in new material by Mvt 262. Now the problem is one material is given for subcontracting how can I transfer it. By the above said process the stock is not becoming zero for the old material. When I looked at the material document for the given material, it is displaying sub items / materials in that MB51 list.
how can I transfer the material.

Entering the purchase order number is simply a way of saving you time re-entering data. No data in the purchase order is actually updated - i.e. you can make transfer postings for components more than once.

In EQBS table for that equnr u have plant and storage location.
but the performace while selecting EQUI on the whole will be very slow.
so i want a table with material,serial number,plant and storage location.

Follow up material - old material's stock goes down and up

Hello,
I have a question related to Follow up material. Lets assume that material A is to be replaced by material B, this is specified in the MRP4 view. In the field Eff.-Out an estimate of when the last unit of material A will be received is given in.
If material A's stock drops down to 0 then material B should kick in, but what happends if afterwards material A's stock goes up again and then both material A and B are in stock. Will SAP notice material A's stock level and use it?

If you don't know the "Effective-Out Date" (MARC-AUSDT) [because your stock situation is always changing), don't define it in material master. System will try to ramp down the stock of old material first and use the new one after that.
However, you should take measures to prevent increasing the stock from the old material. In the system you can block it for purchasing as it was told you already.

Want to see the stock of different variants with same configurable material

I have the stock for configurable material with different variants. Now I can see the cumulative stock
for that configurable material. But my requirement is that I want to see the stock for every variant
belonging to the configurable material.
How can I get it?

In my opinion for sure standard sap report cannot display the stock for a individual configuration.(Variant)
Reason:characteristics display/hide function is very dynamic dependeding on the dependency and interdependency.
The only option is by a report CL30N plus abap. Since we cannot keep anything in stock for a configurable material. You need to identify all open sales order and stock position OR through material movements and then find the produciton order and then read all char. values.
I assume you are not taking about variant materials.

Hi Garg ,
Transfer posting is done through MB1B T.Code which requires the necessary movement tyep
Transferring the material stock into another Material uses the mvt type 309
The quantity is posted from unrestricted-use stock of the issuing material into unrestricted-use stock in the receiving material
Prerequisite: both materials have the same stockkeeping unit.
Possible special stock indicators: E, O, Q, V, W

How to consider the stocks of other plants in MRP run

Hello All,
I have a requirement in which A finished material which it´s planning and production is on PLANT 1 and and is transfered to plant 2 (there is no production and no planning on this plant, it is used for storage only). In that case, I would like the MRP to check the stock of finished material both in plant 1 and 2 for creating planned orders .
I know this can be possible with APO . but is there any other way round we can do this like MRP area or scope of planning or some z developemenmts.

Is there any stock at production plant? Where does the goods issue to sales occur?
If both plants can have stock and sales can occurs in both plants then it is the issue not only stock but also sales order consumption with planned independent requirement. You need to have two BADI to do so. First is the one you mentioned and the flexible PIR also (MD_PIR_FLEX_CONS).
If only storage plant has stock and sales occurs here, then you may want to explore special procurement type produce in other plant and make storage plant a planning plant. The receipt of production order at production plant will posted into storage plant directly.
If sales occurs in storage plants, and there are stock in both plant, use special procurement type transfer from others (40 as standard). When you run MRP, the system will check stock at storage plant first, then if shortage, create stock transfer request to production plant. At production plant, the stock transfer request will be your demand to offset with stock there before create planned order.
Like other comments stated previously, SAP cannot handle the multiple plants planning very well.

Product interchangeability not considering stock of old product

Testing Product interchangeability with Location as MRP areas
created chain with new item as succssor product and old as the presecessor with DIRECTION --->FORWARD
After Running OPTIMIZER with Both the products and all Locations , OPTIMIZER is ordering new item and not the old item even though there is huge stock on hand of the old item.
please let me know if the optimizer will select new product irrespective of the old stock on hand.

Product A is to be superseded by product B in location C.
There is no remaining stock of product A at location C. If demand is received for product A, the heuristic would transfer the demand to product B.
However, the optimizer checks whether there is any stock of product A in other locations of the model.
For instance, if there is still sufficient stock at location D, the optimizer checks the costs for transferring the stock of product A from location D to location C. If this is the most cost-effective solution (because storage costs at D are higher than the costs for transporting to C, for example), the optimizer plans the stock transfer from D to C. The demand for product A is then covered by the transferred stock.
Request you to check in your case whether this is the case.
Note: The optimizer does not calculate costs for interchanging products at the same location.

Stock of a material as on given date

Hi all,
Is there any function module or any BAPI to calculate the opening and closing stock of a material as on the given date, based on which a customizing report is to be developed.. There was a Transaction MB5B to know the as on date stock, but it's taking longer time to use it in customizing report.Please let me know if any BAPI or any F.module is there to find the stock of a material as on given date.

To check the stock of the header and components in same screen?

Is there is any option available in SAP to check the header and its components exising stock in same screen like in multilevel bom we can see BOM and components same way we need one more column which shows the avialble stock.

Do not consider the stock onhand during SNP.

I'd like to run SNP plan that do not consider the stock onhand.
Material A is purchase item. and the forecast of material A has 400 qty.
and stock onhand is 200 qty.
But I want to make the purchase request as 400 qty.
How to ?

Try following in separate planning book by copying standard planning book.
In a macro for stock balance change the step for calculation of stock on hand projected. In this step remove the function of INITIAL_STOCK.

External proc and stock tranfer of Material

Hi Gurus,
I have a component that sometimes I will procure it from other plant (STO) and some times I get it from external vendor.
If I use special proc key for stock transfer, then MRP will always create STR at the other plant. whcih I dont want
If I dont use special proc key and use F indicator in procurement, mrp will always create a Purchase req to the vendor using source list. which I dont want
how do I set up my material master in this case? Thx

Stock transfer from Material to material.......

Hi,
I have a issue, one of my user have created two material instead of one by mistake.
now when he is trying to transfer the stock from one material to another through mb1b/ mvt. 309.
It's giving the error "Stockkeeping units EA and M2 differ".
Obviously both material have the different base unit as EA and M2 and we cann't change those.
So can anybody suggest me how can we transfer the stock from one material to another.

Hi,
As experts already suggested, the transfer posting is not possible unless the UOM are same on both the material. I am assuming that the material is Raw Material.
Alternatively, if acceptable by your business process owners, you can try to adopt the following 2 options.
1. If the stock is received through MIGO with wrong UOM, then, if the material is not consumed for production, you can reverse the same and re-book the MIGO by making necessary changes in MM02 for the UOM.
2. If the stock is partially consumed, then, you can drop the inventory through Physical Inventory process. As per the accounting entry, the Inventory Loss would be Debited and the Inventory Account would be credited. After that the Material code with wrong UOM can be blocked for transactions (MM06). Later, you can upload the dropped inventory against the correct material code (Qty and value through other goods receipt: movement type 501 or 561). The material will then be displayed in the correct UOM as per your requirement.

in our system (SAP 470) there're some materials which need to change the profit center in their master data. these materials still have stock values. after change the profict center, we want transfer the stock of old profit center to the new profit center.
is there any way to do that?

PP: new BoM
we have 25 materials which will change profit center, there're a lot extra works we need to do.
