The Mac I am writing on was filled with Itunes (some bought from Istore, some ripped from my CDs) a couple of years back. It was then not used for 2 years as it was sent to storage. In the meantime I bought a Macbook and also loaded some Itunes onto it. I now want to sync my libraries or (probably more realistic) import the Macbook library to the Mac library without losing any music. Any suggestions gratefully received. PS. I have Mobileme but have read that this is not ideal for use as an Itunes storage) Many thanks

Where did you look for the migrated files? Look in the /Users/ folder and see if there isn't a new user account. If so, then log into that account where you should find what you migrated.
The only way to do a migration any faster and more reliably is if both computers have Firewire ports. If they do then you can use Target Disk Mode to migrate.

You can't transfer the application since they are for different operating systems.
You would have to download iTunes for your Mac.
To transfer your songs, videos etc, just copy all the files in your ITunes directory to a portable hard drive, and connect the hard drive to your mac.
In iTunes on your mac, make sure the preference (under advanced) for "keep itunes folder organized" is checked.
Then add the folder from your portable hard drive, and all songs will will transferred to your mac.

Don't understand?
There is no "main" itunes.
Your "stuff" will be wherever you put it.
Copy it from wherever it is now to wherever it is that you want it.
Perhpas if you explain, more help can be given.

I have the same problem!! only thing is that i have the ipod touch 5th generation and a mac. I also saw this same error message above the Print Queue, ever since allowing the Epson Printer Software Update (August 2013) to install. After this update installed, I was able to print a basic Test Page from the Print Queue, but when printing from any application I only got "Looking for printer..." displayed above the Print Queue, which would stall and never print.
2008 MacBook, 10.7.5. It used to print to my Epson WorkForce 845 wirelessly without problems, before this software update was installed.
Changing the driver from "Epson WorkForce 845" to "Epson WorkForce 600 - Gutenprint v5.2.3" was a workaround that did allow me to print, but I wasn't satisfied with that.

This issue may be a result of the Computer Name being left empty:
Open System Preferences and choose Sharing.
Enter a name for your computer.
Even without restarting the MacBook, I was able to now change back to using the Epson WorkForce 845 driver v9.0 successfully. I never would have guessed that a Computer Name is required in order to print!

I have a Macbook Pro and a Mac Mini both running 10.6.8. They are connected wirelessly and I can open the Macbook Pro from the Mac Mini. However I cannot share the iTunes from the Macbook Pro to the Mac Mini. No Shared item comes up in the Library list. Any solutions?

but it just put on the playlists and no music

Rowan's answer works but will be time consuming if you have more than 4GB of music. There are other solutions. If you own an iPod, you can sync music from the PC to the iPod and then use a freeware program called senuti to transfer the music from the iPod to your Mac. If the two computers are on the same network you can use filesharing to copy the music from one to the other. You could copy music to your flash drive and then from the flash drive to the Mac.

Moving itunes from old pc to new mac

i just bought my first mac. i need to move my itunes library to my new imac.
my first try at manually copying the library (disk use) to my ipod failed (i didn't think to check the size of my "itunes" folder). i pretty much have my 80 g ipod full. The pc directory says that there is 86.4 g in my "itunes" folder. the 86.4 g is after i have deleted all my podcasts.
what methods are left? moving them using cd's? i tried the belkin cable/software that i used to move the rest of my user data, but it only moved my purchased music. any other ideas?

i edited itunes preferences on the advanced tab to "keep itunes media folder organized" and "copy files to itunes media folder when adding to library."
then i chose file>library>organize library. i checked "consolidate files" and "upgrade to itunes media organization."
i receieved the error message "copying files failed. the file name was invalid or too long." what file name? what casued this error?
oh, i have recalled that i have an unused maxtor onetouch ii that i can use to move the data --if i can filnd the cables. so i won't have to deal with the 80g capacity of my ipod. but, is it really true that i can move my library in 2 "trips," let's say 45g at a time? i thought this was an all or nothing shot and that the difficulty with just copying the files had to do with copyright issues.
