Transferring a purchased movie from one computer to another?

I purchased a movie, and downloaded to my personal computer. Now I want to transfer it to my work computer. I followed the directions for transferring and/or backing up. I am using a 1 TB external hard drive (so space is not a problem), and the movie is about 5 GB, yet every time I copy my itunes folder over, I get the message that there is not enough room!! That is in no way accurate!! Is there some other way to transfer? I know about the download recent purchases, but wifi here is slow as molasses!!

What is the best way to do this? I have about 500 video clips that I want to move from one computer to another. I've tried using the export function in iPhoto but all I get upon transfer is a single frame of the movie. I keep the files on an external HD but I can't find where they are stored. I'm not sure you can assign keywords to a movie on export, as these are written to the exif metadata of a photo and most video has no such metadata.
You say you've tried the export function in iPhoto, but what settings have you used? Exporting with the Kind set to Original should yield the videos.

Transferring an iMovie project from one computer to another

I have an iMac with some iMovie projects that I want to work on through my MBP.
What is the best way of doing this?
Drop Box doesn't seem to be the way. Migration Assistant is an option I suppose but all I want to do is to be able to work on a project back and forth from one computer to another. Is this possible?

use any kind of drive thats big enough to hold the data your imovie projects are stored in account>movies>imovie projects

Transferring external iTune library from one computer to another

I am having great difficulty in changing my external iTunes library from my old MBP laptop to my new iMac 5k.
My entire iTunes library is stored on an external drive and can be accessed directly with my MBP. When I started up iTunes on my new iMac, it created a new empty library in the MUSIC folder. What I want to do is connect my new iMac to the external library directly. I can see it when I turn on HOME SHARING but only when iTunes is running on my MBP, which is useless since my MBP will now be seldom used. I have of course on the iMac, changed the library location in the advanced preferences to the external location, to no avail. I do not want to keep any media files on the iMac for capacity reasons.
To compound the problem, I cannot seem to sync my new iPhone 6+ to the original external library, only the new empty one!
Surely this ought to be a simple job, transferring an external iTunes library from one computer to another! Am I missing something obvious here?

On a related matter, I also have just realised that the iTunes iOS backups are saved on the internal computer drive in a folder called MOBILESYNC rather than on an external drive, thus chewing up a lot of capacity on my SSD. Others reading this response may be interested to know that it is easy to have iTunes save the iOS backups to any external drive using a symbolic link in this directory. Go to

Can I transfer rented movies from one computer to another?

I am posting this message as every time I try to transfer rented movies from my PowerBook to my iPod get the following message.
Attempting to copy to the disk "Michael Graham's iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
I have gotten this message with an iPod Classic, as well as an iPod Touch, so don't think it is the iPod, but can not be sure of that. Also have posted a message about this in past, but none of the suggestions seemed to help. In addition Apple seems to be no help. In any event if I use my dad's Mac Mini to transfer the rented movie I do not get this message. In any event I just wonder if their is any way to transfer rented movies from one my laptop to his desktop, so I then came transfer to my iPod Touch.

I understand that it is because I rented. I just thought I would be able to transfer. I never intended to watch the movie on the laptop. I just wanted to rent it from there.
There are lots of possibilities for transferring rented material from Computer to iPod to AppleTV and back.... Just not from computer to computers.
I won't make an impulse "rental" on my laptop ever again. Too bad, since I use it more than the iMac.

I spent 4 hours and 13 CD's backing up music from my old computer to transfer to my new computer.

I bought 6 songs on my laptop due to a better internet connection. I want to transfer them to my desktop computer. When I log in, it has all my old songs listed, not the one's that I bought from my laptop and my old songs together. How can I merge these songs? This has been so frustrating!!
If I go into my account information, it has a record of the songs purchased, but it's not listed in my library.

Transferring iCal files directly from one computer to another

HI,
I like to transfer files directly from my work computer to my home computer over the internet or using a flash drive. According to the support page, there should be .ics files in the Library>Calendars folder that can be transferred. I modified iCal yesterday, but there are no files in the Library> Calendars folders! Any suggestions on where they may be. It seems strange that you HAVE to have a mobileme account to transfer your calendar this way.

I have the full photoshop setup on one mac that has been having issues, the license is on that computer, I need to move the files and the license from the computer thats having issues to another mac but I don't have the license or the files anymore. No, you need to install the application(s). You can download the file thru the page linked below. Your serial number for it should be available thru your Adobe account online if you registered the software when you first installed it. You are allowed to have two activated installations, but if you wish to end it on the faulty machine you should deactivate it... uninstalling won't matter.

Can I move an internal hard drive which has my itunes library (music transferred from my cd collection as well as music purchased from itunes) from one computer to another? The second computer already has itunes on it but no sopied music from cd's.

Yes, you can move the hard drive physically from one machine to another provided you are placing it as a secondary drive in the new machine. You can connect to the transferred library by holding down shift as you start iTunes, then browsing to the relevant folder and opening the iTunes Library.itl file inside. You may however want to reorgnize the drive if you're disposing of the old machine as its system files etc. will be redunant. In this case I suggest you move the iTunes folder to the root of the drive before you connect to the library. You should also deauthorise the old machine before you dismantle it.
Ideally you should take a backup of your library before you start just in case something goes wrong. See this User Tip.for a suggested technique. Works with external drive or network shares.
