Transferring a sequence between two projects crashes FCP.

I'm getting a bizarre problem.
I made a mistake in my project and have to go back to an autosave version.
I can open one project no problem (the older autosave).
When I open a second project (the current project with the mistake), I get a notice saying that "the project is from a newer version of FCP" and cannot be opened. Newer version? I just worked on it!
So, I can't transfer the sequence from the older autosave version to the current mistake project.
In an attempt to work around this, I tried to open the autosave project, create a whole new project, and transfer the sequence to that empty project. However, when I drag it from the autosave into the new project, I get the spinning beachball and have to force quit the program (I even waited for the autosave feature to maybe pull it out of the loop, but it didn't kick in.)
Any ideas on this?

Thank you for your response, but there's a little confusion here.
I am getting an impossible message when I try to open a second project. An autosave version that is maybe 20 minutes old will not open because it says it was created in "a NEWER version of FCP and cannot be opened by the current version." Yes, that's right. It's saying that the same FCP version that created it not 20 minutes ago is now an "old" version and cannot open this project. That is chronologically impossible.
It's like Back to the Future! "Doc! I have to tell you something about the autosave!" "No, Marty!"
And it's not just happening with autosave. ANY second project that I try to open gets the same message. So, no two projects can be opened. I'm waiting for the time-space continuum to collapse any moment now.

I wonder what makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?The project I am working on is on my local disks which are backed up (daily) to external eSATA enclosure. If I run FCP X just by clicking its icon (not a project file) in most cases it opens FCP X with a project but in event library there is not files linked.Sometimes it expands the project’s library located on backup station.
To make active the the local version (get it expanded and access all the files related to the project, I have to: close FCP X, launch FCP X by click on a project or a library file, close FCP X again and then I can get the project and its content displayed correctly just by clicking on a FCP X icon.
After backup is made (I use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup this volume) if I relaunch my FCP X, I have to start the procedure mentioned above all over again. What I am doing wrong?

Munas, what you describes sounds a lot like the problem I've been experiencing.
I have two matching external drives mounted. Drive 1 is the primary, Drive 2 is an identical back-up. Both identically formatted.
FCPX randomly opens drive 2 when I start the program, even when I click on a sidebar link to a project on Drive 1. The clips are often, nonsensically, shown as off-line.
I really don’t care if FCPX recognizes drive 2, in fact I wish it wouldn’t. I don’t, obviously, want to unmount Drive 2 just to use FCPX.
My workaround for this was to rename the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Project folders “FCE” and “FCP” respectively on Drive 2, and configure my back up utility accordingly.
Now, although Drive 2 is listed in the Events and Project Libraries on start up, FCPX doesn’t recognize any events or projects on it, and it sits there as an icon that can’t be expanded. I can live with this until a fix comes, in fact I rather like it.

Commnication between two projects

I am creating two projects
1. Postpaid - This will contain BPEL.
2.Adapter - This will contain Database Adapter.
In project Postpaid i am having an invoke which will call the database adapter in Adapter project.
How will i expose the database adapter created in the Adapter project.

I assume that you have in below format.
1. Postpaid - BPEL
2. DBAdapter - Mediator or BPEL
Optiion 1: Before use the DBAdapter in your Postpaid project, you have to deploy the DBAdapter component and then use the explorer window or the end point of DBAdapter to invoke it from Postpaid bpel project.
Option 2 : If you have created both the components (Postpaid and DBAdapter) in a single composite then you can use it without deploying it to server and once completing both you can deploy and test it.

Moving a project between two versions of FCP- Home and College

Hope someone can help. We're editing a project on an iMac at home, and a G5 at college. Our iMac is running FCP 5, the college ones are still on FCP 4. If we open the saved files, from an external HD, that we have been working on in college, we cannot then open those files in college again. We don't have version 4 to install on our machine, and the college won't buy version 5. Is there any way artound this problem, or do we have to work on the project in sections, then assemble the final peice on the iMac? We can get advice and help in college, and we need our teacher to help us with certain sections, so we need to be able to open up the project in college too, after we've worked on it at home.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, no XML in version 4.0 - it was introduced in 4.1 (which, unlike the upgrade from 5.0.x to 5.1, is simply a download from Apple, if the school will let you update).
In terms of what version of XML you should use:
Version 1 for FCP 4.1 to 4.5 (aka FCP HD)
Version 2 for FCP 5.0.0 to FCP 5.1.1
Version 3 for FCP 5.1.2 to 5.1.4
(Version 4 for FCP 6.0)

Transferring GameCenter records between two iOs devices

I bought the iTouch 3rd Generation two years ago, and recently upgraded to the iPhone 4S. I played a lot of games on the iTouch 3rd Generation using GameCenter, and I assumed it would be easy to transfer my game records between the two devices. Certain games, like Tiny Tower, gave me the option to restore my data once I logged in. Other games, like Angry Birds, saved my achievements but not the game save data itself. I had a lot of 3 stars and now they are all gone. Does anyone know how to transfer game records?

Transferring one song between two iTune Libraries

How do I transfer just ONE song from the iTunes Library to an iTunes Library on another computer. (The song is not a purchased one from iTunes Store if that matters any).
I was able to do this very simply a few weeks ago but can 't remember how I accomplished it.

Yosemite upgrade, all projects crash FCP-X

I recently purchased a new 5k iMac, and installed it with a TimeMachine backup of a mid-2011 imac. I am able to open the Library, and view Events and clips; however, any Project I try to play crashes FCPX.
Old iMac:
mid-2011 Mavericks 10.9.5
12GB RAM
FCPX 10.1.4
Library on external FireWire drive
New iMac
Yosemite 10.10.1
24GB RAM
FCPX 10.1.4
Library on external Thunderbolt drive
I have tried :
- Trash the preferences and restart
- Move one event to a new Library (without render files), and the Project still crashes FCPX
Any ideas? This is frustrating. My old iMac still can play it's Project files without crashing FCPX.

Resolved by reinstalling FCPX.

Sharing media between two project files

If I have all the media in one project file, and the current sequence in another, shouldn't any changes I make to the media be reflected in both projects? Jpeg files in the media project were re-named and replaced with uprezed versions. The files in the sequence project did not change to match this - they still have their original file names, and were linked to the old files. They are still connected, as I made a copy of the media before I renamed the files. So now each project is referencing different media. Is there a way to resolve this? The only thing I can think of is to go through the timeline and replace the files one by one.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
(I know, I know . . . files shouldn't be renamed! I made a mistake last week - I'm already wearing the cone of shame.)

The resolution is to "reconnect" the timeline instances with the new masterclip source media
Select all the offline media in the timeline, then choose File menu > Reconnect Media...
And in the Reconnect dialog press the "Locate" button, then navigate to and select the new file ... if you had/have kept the file names the same then leave "Matched Name and Reel Only" checked and let the app identify and reconnect all those offline files in the same relative path ... but if you have different names for the new source files uncheck the "Matched Name and Reel Only" option and sit yourself down for a long session of manually finding and attaching media

Parametre transfer between two project

I write first project xx which call second project yy.
1.Hyperlink_1 properties i used, onclick "window.open('http://localhost:29080/yy/?id=111111', 'mywindow','width=900,height=1200');"
2.Hyperlink_2 properties i used, onclick "window.open('http://localhost:29080/yy/?id=222222', 'mywindow','width=900,height=1200');"
Second project yy will display only "id" parametre.
My problem is;
When i run first project xx , i click hyperlink_1 , second project yy display "id=111111" it's true and then i close second project yy windows
and i click hyperlink_2 in first project xx , second project yy displayed "id=111111" too.
when i closed second and first projects , for first time hyperlink click always run true. Close second window and click another hyperlink , it didn't run true.
Where do i make mistake?

Properly speaking this is more a JSP/Javascript question than a Creator question, and for this reason there is no simple way to do this at the IDE level.
Basically you will have to provide another action (component of your choice) that will call window.close() for each hyperlink. But more than that, you'll either have to restart the first projects' session before executing the second hyperlinks' action handler (that opens the second popup), or run 2 sessions concurrently (if that is possible) within the same application. You will also need to trun off browser caching from code.

Transferring outboubd deliveries between two systems

Hi Experts,
we are trying to transfer the outbound deliveries created in system A to system B through idocs using standard inbound FM idoc_input_delvry FM in system B. when we do that the idoc is getting into error saying " document with number XXXXXXXX does not exists in the system". It seems the std inbound FM does not create a new outboud delivery, it only changes the existing one.
Is there any way to overcome this problem.

Hi!
Yes, ufontunately you are right, this standard FM can only update existing deliveries.
You might copy this FM to a Z-one and add some additional coding to it.
Try to add this FM, if the delivery does not exists: SHP_VL10_DELIVERY_CREATE
Of course in this case you will need additional data to be able to create the delivery, for example the SD order number.

Transfering updated files between two folders

Hi all,
I am new to java programming and have not dealt much with it till date.I just need a source code which would help me check a folder each time it is updated with a new file and then transfer the file to a new folder on the same computer.All this should run automatically.If not through java can sum1 suggest an alternate solution.

i have an idea .It would be nice of you if you could help me with it.
File class has a method listFiles which return array of files under that folder.

Can I execute the above code with a delay loop which would keep checking teh folder with a delay of 15 min(say) during which if the folder is receiving new entries it would transfer the files(using further code) to a new folder.

Project crashing caused by Memory?

I am having a program crash problem with Final Cut Pro when working with any number of projects (big or small). One large project (33MB), I cannot even open without FCP crashing. +*When I say crash, I mean that the program quits without notice and all windows disappear immediately without warning (i.e. no spinning beach ball or frozen windows). A dialog box then appears oon screen telling me that FCP quit unexpectedly and offers me a report or send Apple a message.+
This is my set up: I am running Final Cut Pro HD on a Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5 with 4GB RAM with Mac OS X (10.4.11). My OS and all apps live on a 230 GB Internal start-up HD (159GB available) and my projects and all related assets live on a 500GB external Seagate high speed USB 2 Drive (14GB available). No other USB 1 devices are on the bus.
In order to correct the problem did the following in this order:
1- Used FCP Rescue to trash and reset FCP. No effect
2- Used Mac's Disc Utility to Repair Disk Permissions and Repair Disk (both run twice). No effect
3- Copied project file to main start-up drive in order to eliminate possible issue with linked asset. Project crashed FCP at launch.
4- Reformatted start-up Drive and performed clean install of OS and FCP. No Effect. Project still caused crash at launch.
Non of these seemed to work, so I started with a auto-saved backup of the project. I saved it as a separate copy with a new name. It opened without a crash, yet all media clips needed to be reconnected. Hooray! So, I started reconnecting media. As I do this, I reconnect small bunches of clips at a time and click save. During this long process, the program crashed again. So, I restarted FCP and the project opened without crashing. I continue to reconnect media as before. Now it takes half the time to crash again. I use FCP Rescue to trash prefs and restart FCP again, but as the program loads the project, it crashes before it can finish opening the project.
It seems to me that each time FCP crashes with a project open, it damages the project file somehow to the point that it will not open at all. Even after purging program preferences and attempting to reopen the crashed project file. Is this possible? Is there some other cause for projects to crash and or not open this way?
Now I am wondering if it is hardware causing the crashes leading to the corrupt files. I ran Apple's Hardware test and the MAC passes both the fast and long test. I also downloaded Temperature Monitor to check memory temp for overheating. It is running between 74-77˚C (165-170˚F), a few degrees higher during a render test. Does anyone know if this memory temp is an issue or what acceptable tolerances are for the G5 with FCPHD? I am out of ideas and hope that someone out there might have some ideas. +Any advice is appreciated.+

It sounds like you may have a piece of corrupt media (or several pieces of corrupt media). First of all, usb is not recommended for working with fcp. Don't think it's the source of your problem, but...
First, generally speaking, project files should reside on your startup disk and all media on other drives.
Are you using any nonstandard codecs or formats?
Are all your drives formatted macosextended? You might want to run diskwarrior on all drives.
Once the above are eliminated, try this. Copy your fcp project file to your startup drive and disconnect the media drive. Open fcp and launch the project. All media will be offline. Save your project. Reconnect your media drive, and launch fcp and the project. Gradually reconnect your media until you find the problem clips.

Can't Copy/Paste betweet Two Projects

I want to copy/paste a clip (which includes 2 video and 2 audio tracks) between two projects. I open Project 1 and copy a clip. I open Project 2 and paste. But the paste does not work. The last copy I did in Project 2 (of a clip that was already in Project 2) is the only thing that pastes, not the clip that I'm bring over from Project 1. So then I went back to Project 1 and "exported" an xml sequence which contained the clip I wanted to paste into Project 2. The import into project 2 worked but still I could not copy/paste from the imported sequence to the target sequence in Project 2. I didn't want to drag he new sequence imported from Project 1 into the the sequence into Project 2 because I needed to have access to all of the original tracks. Why doesn't a regular Windows copy/paste not work and what can I do to get the clip from Project 1 to the targeted timeline in Project 2?

If all else fails, couldn't you always just import the original sequence you're trying to copy from? Open it and copy/paste into the sequence you really want it in?

Stock transfer between 2 projects of different plants.

We have two plants and each plant as multiple projects. Some time it is required to transfer stock between two project which are of different plants. Currently we are using MOVEMENT TYPE 415Q , where stock transfer is done using 4 steps. Our client is insisting to do it in SINGLE step.
Please advice whether it is possible.

Hide values in URL, passing data between two webdynpro(ABAP) applications.

Example : First application is using for login
                Second application is for some transactional screens.
Based on first application login data second application should trigger. When passing the user id and password thru URL every one can see the user name and password at internet explorer, so how to hide that user name and password in URL.
