Transferring all music from ipod to new computer with Windows Vista

I need help!!! I recently bought a new computer that has windows vista, and I do not have access to my old computer. I have tried following the online help but I cannot figure out how to transfer all of my music files from my nano to this new computer. I am only able to transfer my purchased songs. My ipod has been set to 'manul' update. Can someone help me with this???

I have a ipod touch 2nd gen. I have cd's and purchased songs on my ipod. I did use itunes on my friends computer for a number of years but now I've got windows 7 computer and i have downloaded itunes but it won't let me transfer current data on my ipod to itunes without me loosing it all. I can only access itunes at friends now. Is there any way to get all my songs, playlists, apps (with data still on it) and photos without deleting it? I am looking for the cheapest way possible. How do I transfer all music from IPod to new computer?

There is a topic that covers this in Support, but it freezes my computer every time I try to access it. Can someone give me the steps? I have a new PC and I want to transfer all my music to it from my iPod. (I know how to transfer the purchased tunes, I want to transfer all the cd's that I've loaded).

It is important to make a backup of your iTunes Music Library. In case of data loss, including hard drive failure or replacement, accidental deletion, and so forth, you'll be able to restore it from your backup.

My old laptop died. So I have a new one. I have 30 GB of music on my IPOD classic right now. But I want to transfer the music to my ITUNES library on my new laptop.
Is there a way to do this? There should be. I don't want to have to copy all my CDs to my new laptop. Why can't I just transfer the IPOD content to a new computer?

Our old Desktop computer crashed, finaly have a new computer, but am unsure hoe to transfer all content (music, games, movies & photos) from iPod classic to new computer.
Our last computer run on Windows XP & the new one is Vista, have already down loaded new version of iTunes to new computer, but don't want to plug in iPod, just yet. Don't want to loose all our music (over 2000 songs ) Some are from the iTunes store & some are from our CD colletion, which took ages to put on computer. I also have over 200 photos that were on old computer & is on iPod that I would like to transfer to new computer. Have also purchased movies from iPod Lounge (not iTunes) & am hoping that I will be able to transfer these as well. Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.

Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.

Old Hard drive crashed, need to transfer music from iPod to new computer

Hello. My old hard drive crashed and I bought a new computer. Unfortunately I did not back up any files from my old computer and lost all files including iTunes music. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Computer Crashed, need to download music from Ipod to new computer

My old computer with all of my music on it crashed and is totally kapaupt. However, like a big dummy, I did not have a back-up for my music library. Is there any way to transfer my music from my Ipod to my new computer????

As you may have already found out that while we can transfer music from iTunes to an iPod, we cannot transfer music from iPod to iTunes.
You need to move your music from your iPod to your new iTunes and one of the ways that you can do this is with the help of a third party software.
Please read [*_This Discussion Thread_*|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10570955#10570955] and pay particular attention to the post from Zevoneer. In his post all available software is listed which you can use to accomplish what you want. Most of the software is free. Good Luck.

Ipod 5 wasn't updating new playlists. Removed all music from iPod and ended up with 34 GB of OTHER. How do I remove this without doing a full restore?

iPod 5 was not adding new playlists when synching (plenty of space remained in memory for it). This happened around the time of the new update. I removed all music from the iPod and when I went to resync the selected playlists, my OTHER portion of memory jumped up to 34GB and now there is not enough space on the iPod to put all my music back on.
I've checked the usage of all the apps and photos, etc, it is pretty clear this is because of the music portion only.
Is there anyway of removing this information? Without doing a restore? It is not jailbroken either.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Can't get my music from ipod onto new computer?

So my iPod has been synced to our desktop, and I have bought some music from my ipod that is not on the desktop. But now i have a new computer and i want my music from my ipod, not the desktop, on the itunes on the new computer, but transfer purchases isn't working. So.. is there a way to transfer from the ipod on to the new itunes? Or can someone at the genius bar do that for me?

First of, in iTunes, select "Store" in the menu and authorize the computer.
Then, when your iPhone is connected right click on it and select "Transfer Purchases", this should move your content from your iPhone to your computer.

Transferring music from Ipod to new computer

Hello, I have just bought a new computer and would like to know how I can transfer the playlists from my Ipod directly to the Itunes that I have just downloaded.

I tried following this document and made my Ipod a hard drive so I could copy files off it onto a flash drive memory stick, so that I could then copy them onto my new computer.
The ipod files won't go anywhere!
What else can I do??? (Since I was moving, I copied all my CDs onto it using my old computer, which is now inaccessible some 8000 miles away, as are the CDs.)
I would like to back up the CDs from the ipod on my new computer, and be able to play them from the computer, too.
How do you get them off the ipod onto my new computer???
