HI,
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692 provides tips that will resolve most issues related to syncing contacts and calendars on a PC.
Make sure you have at least one contact in the contact manager on the PC, so there are contacts to merge.
You can sync and even merge contacts on from multiple computers as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296

  • How do i sync my contacts from iPhone 4s to my mac?

I am trying to sync from contacts from iPhone 4S to my mac.  I thought it would all work with iCloud, but it doesn't.   Can someone help me please?  thanks

Using iTunes, back up your iPhone 3G by rightclicking the name of your iPhone that appears in the "devices" tab on iTunes when you have plugges it into the computer. Once the back up has been completed, plug in your iPhone 4S and select "restore from backup". All of your files on your iPhone 3G should be successfully transfered to your iPhone 4S.

Not possible, the current version of iTunes only allows syncing via iCloud which the 3G does not support.

  • Transferring contacts from iphone 4s to PC and then to new iphone5

I am getting a new iphone 5 and want to transfer my contacts from my work phone iphone 4S to my PC . when I get new iphone 5 I will then transfer contacts from PC to iphone 5.
Can you advise best way for me to do this?

    Hello grandview97
The best method would be to back up your iPhone 4s with either iTunes or iCloud. Once that is complete, then you can plug in your new iPhone and restore that back up from either iTunes or through iCloud. The steps are laid out in the article below.

  • How can I get my contacts from iPhone ios5 to my mac osx10.6

I recently upgraded my late model 2006 iMac to OS Lion. I also updated my iPhone to IOS5.
Lion is not really configured to work seamlessly with an older mac, so I reverted back to OSX 10.6.
This means I've lost all contacts in my address book.
Is there a way of retrieving contacts from my iPhone IOS5 so I can add them back onto my mac?
This is so frustrating and until I can afford a new mac, I need to find a way of getting my contacts back.
At the moment I don't want to synch my phone with my mac for fear of losing content on my phone.

It might take a bit longer, but it's risk free:
Use your iMac to send your contacts in an email to yourself
    Open them using your iphone.
They should arrive as vcf format and you click to open it and hey presto!
Also works the other way round, so when I receive an email from a new contact, I register it on my iphone and click on "share contact", sending it to me which I then open on my Powerbook.
    Helpful?

  • Transfering contacts from iPhone 2g to iPhone 4 went wrong!

    Hello all,
I have the following issue - I have iPhone 2g and want to transfer all contacts and msgs to the new iPhone 4.
    I followed this manual http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109
First I made back up on the PC with info from iPhone 2, then connected the new phone and put the back up in it.
However, all contacts have transfered but settings from my previous phone! Like keyboard languages, time zones and etc. The problem is that the phone looks weird now!
There are menu's transfered from the back up to the new iphone, some of the ringtones stay there but they are unactive (when you go to sets>sounds>ringtones you see them, you can press them, but no sound comes) and most important - icons don't lool like the original iPhone 4!
So my questions - how to return to clean installation of OS 4.3 (or different) and is this the only way to get back the phone to the state I've bought it? I just want a clean new installation, no matter if i'll lose the information!
The iPhone 4 is OS 4.3, sim free.

if you sync with itunes or gmail or mobileme you can just remove the wrong synced contacts and  get the right ones from those services
if you don't you really should

  • Transfering contacts from Iphone 2 to Iphone 5s

I have recently upgraded my phone from IPhone 2 (IOS 4.2.1) to IPhone 5s. I followed all the procedures to restroe contacts and notes with Itunes:
    - create a back up with the old Iphone
    - disconnect phone and connect new one
    - restore back up
but the restore does not work. Can anyone help? thank you

With every sync your contacts on your pc and iphone should be updated. So you cab use your windows contact app to sync it to the ipod touch. Disable automatic sync in itunes, activate the option to delete all contact info on the ipod once in the info pane with your ipod connected and sync. All your contacts will be transfered to your ipod.

  • Help transferring contacts from iPhone4 5.01 to Mac without duplicating contacts on either or both lists

When I connect my iPhone running 5.01 to my mac vie iTunes, and transfer contacts, it always duplicates the contacts when synching.
So if I have a single John Doe entry on both my iPhone and Mac, I now get two.
Sometimes it will make 3 or 4 copies.
    I want to:
copy my contact list from my iPhone TO my Mac, and update existing entries on my mac, and add new ones that are on my iPhone and not on the Mac, and
transfer contacts from Mac to iPhone that are new to the iPhone
Basically, I have to separate contact lists that I dont want to mix or mesh entirely, and I also want to stop them from duplicating.
The User Manual does not address keeping them from duplicating.
    Thanks in advance

Well, there appears to be NO way to get it to stop doing what its doing.
I have one contact list on my iPhone.
I have a different list on my MacBook pro.
When I connect to update items on my phone via iTunes, I back up the iPhone.
I did my update, and then restored from the backup. That brought back in my iPhone contact list.
However, when I go to put my apps and music, books, etc back on my phone from iTunes on my Mac, I either have to bring my contact list off my mac over and it adds entries to the iphone contact list, or I choose not to sync contacts, and it erases them altogether.
If someone has a suggestion how I can keep my original iPhone contact list on my iphone, without having itunes either wipe it or add unwanted entries from my macbook pro, I'd appreciate it!

  • Transfering Contacts FROM iphone

Hello everyone. My contacts on Yahoo are severely outdated.
Currently, I have contacts sync-ing set to 'off'.
I would like to transfer my contacts from my iPhone to Yahoo.
But I am afraid that my iPhone contacts will be lost.
I have read that when there is information on the iPhone and Yahoo address book, that iTunes simply merges everything. In that case, shall I delete everything but ONE entry in Yahoo and then perform a sync?
What happens if I delete EVERYTHING on Yahoo and perform a sync?
    Thanks!

I suggest syncing contacts with a supported application on your computer first so that you have a fall back.
With XP, this can be with the address book used by Outlook Express. If you haven't used this address book and it is empty, enter on contact in the address book before syncing. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing contact info which you want to select.
When syncing with your Yahoo online address book which includes contact info, contact info between the two will be merged. If you want to replace all online contact info, delete all online contact info first except for one contact. If something goes wrong or doesn't turn out like you wanted, you have a backup of sorts on your computer with the address book used by OE. You can replace all iPhone contact info with the OE contact info via the iTunes sync process, but you can't do the reverse.

  • Transfer calendar and contacts from iPhone to iMac and Mobileme

    Hello
I know this question is touched upon regularly, but I am overwhelmed by the richness of the information!
The address book and calendar on my iPhone are complete and up to date. I want to transfer them to my new iMac and and to my MobileMe account, replacing (or adding to) the incomplete subsets on these. Can some kind person explain in noddy terms what I do? I am confused whether my starting point should be iTunes, settings on the iPhone or preferences on MobileMe.
Once all three places have the same information, I hope to keep the three in sync - if I can work out how.
    thanks in advance

    Hi
After much struggling the problem has been solved. Although the solution did not come from this list, I thought I would tell you what I did, in case it helps someone else in the same situation.
I think the two things which helped were:
    - deleting all entries from the Mac and MobileMe
    - creating a new MobileMe account on the iPhone settings (it was exactly the same as the old one, but, who knows...)

  • Transfering contacts from iphone back up to ipod touch. Can it be done

I am thinking about getting a ipod touch cause my iphone 1st gen got wet, but it was backed up. If I buy an ipod touch can I transfer my back-up contact info to an ipod touch

With every sync your contacts on your pc and iphone should be updated. So you cab use your windows contact app to sync it to the ipod touch. Disable automatic sync in itunes, activate the option to delete all contact info on the ipod once in the info pane with your ipod connected and sync. • Syncing contacts from iPhone to Outlook and vice versa

I have the new iPhone and I have set up an account in Outlook and have it sync from my MSN Hotmail account. Everything syncs and looks good with the exception of my contacts. I need to know how to put a contact into my phone and have it sync into my Outlook and vice versa. Currently if I put a contract in my phone it does not go to Outlook and if I put a contact in Outlook it does not go to my iPhone.
Do I have to add a new contact to the MSN hotmail account and then it will sync to my Outlook and then my iPhone? How do I get the contacts to go from my iPhone to my Outlook and then to my Hotmail?
    Same issue with Calendars.
    Thanks!

The iPhone supports syncing contacts and calendar events with Outlook 2003 or 2007, which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Syncing contacts and calendar events direct with Outlook 2003 or 2007 via the iTunes sync process syncs direct with the Outlook address book and calendar - with what is available locally on your computer in the Outlook address book and calendar.

  • Transferring contacts from iphone 4 to 4s?!?!?

    Hello,
My iphone 4 was stolen and my contacts were not backed up on icloud. I have now got an iphone 4s, is there any way of getting back my contacts? They may have been backed up on iTunes......
    Please help!!

This explains what iTunes backs up.  Read the Contacts section carefully (especially the asterisk note):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
Bottom line:  Maybe your contacts are preserved somewhere on your computer depending on what account housed your contacts on your stolen iPhone.  I wouldn't count on finding too many of them in an iTunes backup.

  • Existing contacts from iPhone to iPad, and to PC?

I have contacts on my iPhone5.  I now have an iPad (iOS 6.0.1).  I realise I can set my iPhone default contacts account to iCloud and all newly created  contacts will show up on my iPad (via iCloud), but how do I get my existing contacts on my iPhone to iCloud, then to my iPad?
How can I also get my existing iPhone contacts to my PC (as an extra backup)?

Either sync the iPad with the same source of the contacts as the iPhone, or setup iCloud on both devices.

  • How to import contacts from iPhone 4s to mac book

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to import my contacts from iphone 4s to my mac book. I already managed to import the photos as iphoto popped automatically, but the contacts seem to be more tricky.
    Appreciate your help!

    for Mac OS X:
    - use iTunes
    - choose your iPhone and go to the INFO tab
    - tick sync contact then sync
    for Mac OS Mavericks:
    - update both devices and iTunes then follow the same steps above.
or use iCloud in both devices.
