Transferring CS5 from old, dead laptop to new, working laptop

Hi,
My old laptop is dying and, at the moment, is not turning on. I would LOVE to move my CS5 over to my new, working laptop but am unsure how to go about it because I cannot turn on my old laptop to deactivate the program. What can I do?

Let me try to simplify things for you.
You can install CS5 on you new MAC. For that, as Dov said, deactivate CS5 from your old machine and then install it using the dvd installer or downloaded installer on the 2nd machine.
If you donot have a dvd drive on the new MAC, you can use your old MAC and copy the disc to its desktop and bring it over to new MAC using usb drive.
Alternatively, you can download CS5 directly on you new MAC using the below website but make sure to read the "Very Important Instructions", mentioned on that website, very carefully before downloading it.

Transfered CS5 From old MacBook to MacBookAir Error 6

Hi, I transfered my CS5 I purchased less than 2 years ago from my old Mac to my New MacBook Air and it call for Error 6 requesting to be reinstalled. I do not have the CD software that came with my package and don't have any screenames relating to Adobe, how can I have this back on my computer. IT was expensive!

remove everything you moved to your new computer.

then properly install cs5.5 using your serial number to activate.
if you see a download error page, you didn't follow all 7 steps. re-read and re-try.

Transferring pictures from old Blackberry device to new 8900

I recently synced my backup info from my old 7250 to my new 8900. I carefully chose the application info since I had changed carriers and didn't want this mixed in with my new carrier apps that were already on the phone. It seems I didn't includes the pictures. They must be on the backup disc I made of the 7250. Would they be listed as another name and maybe not just 'pictures'?

Media or Documents would be my guess. If your pictures were ever saved to your computer, I'd simply upload them to the new phone. That's what I did with mine.

Transfering music from old computer to a new one

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me, i recently bought a new laptop, but my old one has my itunes on it. i have tried a few times to add it to my new itunes, but everytime i do, the music is in, but then if i switch my comp off and then go to turn it on again later on the music cannot "be located" but i dont know how to stop this happening. someone please help me as now im getting very stressed with it!!

Transferring Library from Old iPOD mini to new computer...

My computer was fried about a month ago. My company's IT department replaced it, but I lost my library of iTUNES entirely from the hard disk. The whole library is of course on my old iPOD mini. I want to transfer the library from the old iPOD mini to my new computer and then, in turn, to my new NANO - which I am very excited about. I have installed the nano and the iTUNEs on my new computer. I am fearful that if I plug my old iPOD mini into the new computer, with the blank library, that it will erase the iPOD mini library. HELP!

DO NOT attach & sync your full iPod to an empty iTunes!!!

No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

Okay, my old computer crashed and signs me on to a temporary profile due to numerous hardware and OS problems which are irrelevant. I cannot access my old settings and every time I log off, my settings are reset to default and I have to re-setup iTunes, so my library is not saved. I still have all of my purchased music and movies, and I want to transfer them to my new computer and iTunes library. I have copied all of my music not purchased from iTunes, and all that is left is a movie purchased off of iTunes. When I transferred it to my new computer, iTunes told me it cannot copy it to my iPod...says I need to de-authorize my old computer I believe?

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but if your old hard drive in fact failed, requiring its replacement, unless you have a separate backup, other than using a data recovery service, your data is gone.

Transferring everything from old imac G3 to new mac

I don't know much about computers, so sorry if this is a stupid question... I have an old imac G3 which I bought new in 1999 or 2000. It is system 9. I don't use it anymore and it's not hooked up to the internet. I do have a lot of important pictures and documents on it. I'm planning on buying a new mac one of these days (don't know exactly which model yet but probably a laptop) and I want to know if all my old documents and files will be able to go straight onto any new mac with the latest OS. My documents are in microsoft word, whatever version of it was around 7 years ago. I have an external disk drive for my imac which plugs in with a USB port. My files are backed up on disks with this disk drive and I guess this would be how I transfer the files to a new computer. Would an external disk drive with old software for system 9 also work on a new system? Basically my question is, does any old software or application for system 9 also work on system 10?

In addition to the examples that Eustace provided, I recently found that AppleWorks v6 that was bundled with many iMacs will also run under OSX. My daughter had immediate need of a computer and no money to buy a new one. I upgraded our unused old iMac 400DV to Panther and added a larger hard drive. As I had no additional licenses for Office and my daughter needed a WP program, I restored AppleWorks from the iMac restore CD to the OS9 partition I made on the new drive.
When I launched AppleWorks, it opened in X, not "Classic." It had a few problems but it basically worked That version was 6.0.4 and the update to v6.2.9 available here cleared up all the little problems.
Upgrading an office computer to one that ran OSX showed me that any MS Office document created with Office 98 (OS9) would open just fine with Office 2004 (OSX). When you save the document it automatically converts it to the later version unless you tell it not to.

HT3819 Transferring ITunes from old lap top to new. Tried and failed. Help please

I opened the Home Sharing on both lap tops as instructed in the help section, I've closed both I Tunes and opened again, but can't get the I Tunes on the new computer to open with all the stuff that is on the old.

As long as don't have any metadata attached to the broken files which you would like to preserve...
You could use iTunes Folder Watch with its option to "check for dead tracks on startup"

Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist. Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist. You can delete them all with a Ctrl-A to select them and Shift-Delete to remove them.
You can then delete the Lost & Found playlists.
If there are ratings, play counts etc. attached to the broken links, but you've since reimported the files from another location then I have a script called FindTracks that could probably repair the broken links, and another called DeDuper that could dedupe and gather up the stats while preserving playlist membership etc.

My last iMac died and I've got a new one. I've also got the hard drive from the old iMac, but when I try to open things from it, such as the address book, the new version opens and I can't find a way to get at the info that is in my old address book. I want to e-mail friends to tell them that I'm back on-line, but I can't get at their addresses. Advice received with thanks.

The Address Book data is stored at the following location - Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
With the Address Book application quit on your new iMac, transfer the AddressBook folder from the old hard drive and place it in the same location on your new hard drive at Home > Library > Application Support.
This will replace the existing AddressBook folder in this location.
Launch Address Book and all contacts from the old drive should be completely restored.

I just purchased a new mac mini intel duo OSX 10.4.10, with which I am using my existing monitor, keyboard and mouse. No need for a second set of peripherals. Plug the firewire cable into both computers and the keyboard into the old Mac and start it up in FireWire target mode (hold the T key while turning it on). Now unplug the keyboard and connect it to the new one. Start up the Migration Assistant and go.

Just picked up a new iPod Touch 4G, wanted to know if there is a way to transfer my data from my old 3G one to my new one. Would it be possible to do a back up of my old one and restore it to my new one or is there a function in iTunes I'm missing?

That did the trick! I plugged in the new one and it asked me if I wanted to start it as new or restore data from a back up.

I had a iPod touch but while I was on vacation I either lost it or it got stolen. So right now I have iTunes and my whole library that is registered with my lost iPod. I just got a new iPod yesterday. How do I transfer all these songs to my new one?

Easy. Just restore the new iPod from the backup of the old one. When you first connect the iPod to your computer to activate the iPod, iTunes should give you message that says it found a backup and would you like to restore the iPod from that backup or set up the iPod as a new iPod, Say restore from backup. Then sync the music you want to the iPod. Restoring from backup will keep all your all settings and app data but you will have to reenter keychain items like passwords.

Transfering Files from old OS9 (imac) to new G5 imac via firewire

I just bought the new G5 and can't seem to transfer my old files over. I hooked up the firewire, rebooted the old imac holding the "T" down and the old hard-drive icon shows up on my new G5 desktop.
However as soon as I click the icon I get the spinning ball of death...
