Transferring CS6 to new iMac

Hi all,
I currently have an old unibody Macbook with my copy of CS6 student edition.  I recently bought a new iMac and am a little stumped as to how I go about installing CS6 when I can no longer use the adobe disc... As the iMac's don't have a disc drive!
Everything I have read says 'just uninstall and deactivate on your old device and then install and active on the new device' or 'you can have one licence running across 2 personal computers'.  I don't know how to do any of this guys... Is it just a matter of logging into my creative cloud on my iMac and downloading from there somewhere?
Please help!
Thanks!

You can download the trial of CS6 and activate it using your serial number.  If you like the idea of having it available on two machines then don't worry about the old installation... just install it on the new one and let it lay from there.

  • Unable to reinstall Bridge CS6 or Photoshop CS6 on new iMac - Unable to find Uninstall anywhere in Library or Utilities

I just purchased a new iMac.  Our previous iMac finally "died" and we had to have the data recovered from hard drive and transferred to the new iMac.  I am now unable to open Bridge CS6 or Photorshop CS6.  Message says I need to reinstall.  But when going to Utilities, am unable to find Adobe Installer or Uninstall in any files or folders.  Anxious  to get back to using Bridge and Photoshop - HELP - and Thanks!!

No, you're never going to find it there.
In CS6, the Adobe uninstaller is inside the Adobe Photoshop CS6 folder, which in turn is inside the Root Applications folder.

  • Re-installing Photoshop CS6 on new iMac problem.

I transferred my Photoshop CS6 to a new iMac Retina running OSX 10.10.1, having taken care to deactivate on the old Mac first and then reactivated on the new.  Photoshop comes up with an error message now each time I launch saying that "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necassary for running Photoshop, are missing.  Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."  So I did just that with my original installer disc.  At the end of that process it said that there had been some errors and referred me to a log file which said:
Despite all this Photoshop seems to be working, but every time I launch it I get the same error message.   I've not used it enough since the move to the new Mac to discover if any other faults have developed.  As well as using my original install disc I also tried downloading the CS6 installer from the adobe.com site but exactly the same thing happens.  I would welcome suggestions for a fix...

Alas, this did not work. I first of all tried the reinstall in Safe Boot mode and at the end of the process exactly the same install error message as shown above.  I then moved to the part of those instructions that said to ditch Adobe AIR and reinstall it.  AIR was not visible anywhere on my machine, nor did that folder /Volumes/Adobe Master Collection exist.  Maybe there's a difference between what CS6 installs compared with the CS5 your instructions refer to (?).  So I went back to the Adobe.com downloads page, got Adobe AIR and installed it - during that it told me it was upgrading my AIR (wherever that was hidden - Find file could not see it) to version 16.  Otherwise no reported errors.  I went a step further and used the Uninstall tool to remove the existing CS6 installation, then tried reinstalling Photoshop - again same issue, same error.  So I'm no further forward after several hours of trying different things.
    Any more ideas please?

  • Installing CS6 onto new imac from upgrades

    Hi
I am wanting to install CS6 onto a new imac via the cloud. The CS6 I have is in disc format and is an upgrade from CS65.5.
CS5.5 is also an upgrade from CS4.
How do I install CS6 onto a new imac when I cant get install the original due to no CD drive?  Going mad!!

    Hi DonnaOxon,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums!
Even if you have the CD version of CS6 you can  still download and install CS6 from the cloud. During the installation it will first ask you to enter the serial number for CS6 and on the next step it will automatically ask you to enter the serial number for CS5.5.
The product will be licensed and installed once you enter these serial numbers correctly.
    Thanks

  • OT-Transferring CS6 to new Mac

I've CS6 on my Mac Pro; just ordered a new iMac (trading in Mac Pro)... how can I legally transfer my license to new machine? Also, may I install CS6 on my wife's machine at home too? I'd really like a viable at-home hardware alternative should my new iMac give me a problem and need outside service.
    Thanks.

You are entitled to two concurrent activations with the stipulation that
you are the primary user on both machines and that both will not be used
    at the same time.
Before decommissioning your old Mac, open CS6 and under the help menu,
    choose deactivate. Close CS6.
You can now install and activate on your new machine. And should still
have a second activation for your home computer as well.

  • New CS6 on new IMAC w/o drive

New IMAC does not have a CD drive. Ordered new CS6 but can't load it, can I down load from Adobe using the key (SN) on the CDs box?

All the CS 6 downloads are available as Trial downloads on Adobe.com website.
Depending on the product you purchased, you can download the trial version from the Adobe website and then can install and serialize the same using the serial number you received.

  • Migration Assistant says "Less than a minute to go" but this goes on for hours and nothing gets transferred to my new iMac 27"

Am trying to transfer all my data from my old MacBook Pro 10.6.8 , 2.8GHz, 4GB memory to my new iMac 27" 10.9.4, 3.2 GHz, 8GB and after 3 days I still can't get there.
I am using Migration Assistant. Both computers are on wi fi. I have connected them together with an ethernet cable.
I can get the process going but hours later the computers say "less than a minute remaining" . I have left them alone for more hours but nothing moves on. I them quit and of course I find that nothing has been transferred.
I am not very skilled at all this so I hope someone can help me with an easy solution.
    Thank-you

    Hello again baltwo
The above didn't work so I then tried what you suggested and erased the hard disc, reloaded the OSX software and then tried the Migration Assistant again. Same old problem only now it doesn't get beyond "new mac selecting what to import". When I press continue the screen just goes grey then back to the login page.
However another problem I have is that the free 'bundled apps' ... Pages. Numbers, Keynote, Garageband, iMovie and iPhoto have disappeared! I've been to the App store and into my account but they are not there under 'Purchases".
This is all turning into a nightmare so any help would be very welcome.
    Thank-you

  • Transferring files to new iMac using FireWire

I've been trying for the last few hours, without success, to transfer files from my old G4 to my new intel iMac. I've done several FireWire transfers in the past, so I think the cable is OK and I'm not sure what's going on here.
At first, when I tried to transfer the files, the Migration Assistant just froze up. The Apple Help file suggested that I install a firmware update on my old computer, but even after doing that, my new machine won't acknowledge the old one. Is there something else I should be doing?

Put the old G4 in target disk mode so it shows up on the new iMac as a hard drive. Shut off old computer, then hold the "T" key down while you start up. Hold it till a Firewire Icon shows up (if you have a monitor hooked up to the G4) or till a Hard disk shows up on iMac screen.

  • Transfering music from new iMac to iPod without losing songs on ipod

    Hello,
I've just finised uploading all my CD's onto my new iMac. I now wish to download the contents of the iMac's iTunes library onto my iPod (click wheel but not video) without losing the songs that are already on the iPod. The iPod was originally synced to a Windows PC which was used to download it's existing library. There are a number of songs on my iPod that are not in my new iMac's iTunes library & also a large number of songs that are already on the iPod.
Basically, I want to know how I can download all songs from my iMac's library that are not already on the iPod without losing the songs I have on the iPod that are not in the iMac's iTunes library (Ihope that makes sence).
    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi Dave!
    Yes, you can do this.
First off, do this to prevent iTunes from automatically syncing your iPod:
    1 - Open iTunes.
2 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
3 - Basically as soon as your iPod begins to display "Do Not Disconnect", begin to press and hold the Option and Command keys on your keyboard together simultaneously.
4 - Continue to hold these keys for about 20 seconds, throughout the time when your iPod is showing up in the Source List in iTunes.
After you've done this, click on your iPod's name in the Source List (the Source List is the left panel area of iTunes), and under the "Summary" tab, tick the "Manually manage" option for your iPod. Also, go to the “Music” tab, and ensure that the “Sync” option isn’t selected.
Click the “Apply” button in the bottom-right corner to save your changes.
Manually managing the songs on your iPod will allow you to preserve the current content that you have on your iPod, and transfer new content from your iTunes library to your iPod.
When you are connecting your iPod to a computer that is different than what it is normally synced to, you will get a message that says something like: "The contents of the iPod "your iPod's name" is synced to another iTunes library. What would you like to do?"
You will be given a couple of options, and make sure to click on "Cancel", and NOT "Erase and Sync" (or else the current contents of your iPod will be erased, and the iPod will be synced with your iTunes library).
So, after you've saved your iPod's songs from being automatically synced off of it, you can transfer your iPod's music to your compter if you wish.
You can install a third-party program onto your computer that can do this copying.
    Try using Senuti.

  • Transferring data to new iMac

I am just about to buy a new intel-based iMac and need to transfer all my photos, movies, etc from my old G4. How straightforward is this?

    hi andy,
Try the standard transfer as prompted when you set up your new mac, but..
Moving files from a PowerPC platform to Intel caused issues for me late 2007 and having migrated all my G4 files in one move I had no clue where to start solving them.
I started again by ignoring the auto transfer prompt and manualy transfering items as needed.

    Hi trumbullina,
I checked your account & found that you have an active Creative Cloud Individual subscription.
Please Launch any CC product, deactivate it from the help menu(top right).
In the new computer, log in to www.creative.adobe.com, download & install the CC desktop App & proceed to install other products.
Please let us know if it worked.
