I am trying to transfer Elements 10 from my MacBook to my new iMac. I lost the disks that I received from Amazon in 2012. How can I use Elements?

You can never transfer an installed copy of PSE, if that's what you want to do. PSE is not a nice tidy package like most mac apps. The installer strews stuff all over your hard drive.

Thank you for your prompt response - I did as you said and did a drag and drop into the iTunes window - it imported and got my album art from the net. When I started Itunes with the shift key down I was prompted to choose a library but since I copied over the media folder and not the library folder I was unable to select that so I guess I will have to create a new library and add in all the music, videos, etc. unless I wait for my laptop and export the library or at least that seems to be the case? In short, all my data (iTunes media folder) is on my external drive and can be added to the blank iTunes screen but I can not choose a library folder. Is there anyway around completely making all those playlists again? I am not sure my laptop will survive the shop with data intact and really hate to start over on those.
In an unrelated question - I collect old TV shows from the 1950's. Can I make playlists within the home video folder somehow? In other words like one for Quiz shows, one for comedies, one for police and detective shows, etc. while I am remaking all my playlists for my music if I end up having to go that route?

You can't sign in because there is nothing to sign in to. For PSE 10 the only sign in was to photoshop.com, which has been dead and gone for a year and half. Just skip the sign in. Reinstalling will not change this.

Well, it should be in your downloads folder. If it's really not anywhere, I would try downloading the trial, where it's easier to figure out which is the correct file, and you can enter your serial number into that, same as into the purchased download.

Is it installed? If so, go to Applications and choose either Adobe Elements 12 Organizer, or Adobe Photoshop Elements 12>Support Files>Photoshop Elements Editor.

Try opening directly from your desktop, by passing the welcome screen.
Go to Windows Explorer>C drive>Program Files (x86)>Adobe>Photoshop elements 11. Right click, then Send to>Desktop
Double click on the shortcut and see it will open.

You can never, never, never transfer an installed version of PSE. PSE is not a nice tidy package like most mac apps; the installer strews stuff all over your had drive and you can never hope to find all the bits. You must ALWAYS install PSE from scratch on a new machine.
By trying to do this you have made a lot more work for yourself. You will need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
(I know it says CS, but PSE is based on the code for CS.) Then you can go around and manually remove all the bits you can find. In addition to the applications folder, check hard drive>library>application support, and your username>library preferences. To see the user library, click the go menu in the finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. Since you have tried to run it, while you are in there go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything for PSE.
Then you can reinstall PSE. Be sure to repair permissions afterwards.

Transferring songs from Ipod to new mac

I recently purchased a new mac after my dell computer crashed. As a result of this the only source I have for my 1000+ songs is my ipod touch. I have already gone to my preferences and set it so my ipod does not sync automatically and did the same for my sister and her new dell laptop. I was able to connect her ipod to her computer and transfer all of her purchased items with no problem but now am unsure on how to transfer the rest? Also on my own computer when I plug my ipod in, it seems that the computer is not detecting the connection as it won't let my click the 'Transfer Purchases From Ipod' button. Also my ipod does not show up on the left side on my itunes underneath the 'Devices.' Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks!

Transferring pre-installed logic to new Mac

I'm about to buy a new Mac and I'm wondering if all the files on my old macbook will transfer directly to the new computer without any hassle. My macbook was bought with Logic Express 7 (at the time) pre-installed and I've since updated to Logic 8 and then 9. Will the migration assistant transfer Logic along with the upgrades with no problems and, if so, can I then upgrade on my new mac to Logic studio? I'm willing to buy Logic Studio for £400 but, obviously, I'd prefer to buy the upgrade, as I already have Logic Express. Also, I have a downloaded Orange Vocoder plug in - will this transfer and work automatically as well?? Cheers dudes. Dan

if you buy the Studio Upgrade, just install this onto your new Mac. However, you must own and keep all the old versions with their serial numbers, because they belong to your upgrade chain, but you mustn't install them onto a new mac before upgrading.

Okay, so I'm going to describe the step-by-step following of the instructions [which I thought I had done before ]. If you see where I'm making an error can you point it out to me.
1. I clicked on the link in your post of May 13 which took me to a page called "Direct Download Links for Adobe Photoshop/Premier Elements 10". I have basic Elements, not Premier and I need to get PSE 10 onto a Mac, which the site says I will only need a "single .dmg file for each program". Then I
2. logged in to the Adobe account ( required by instructions ) set up when I bought the disc version last August.
3. I turned "cookie control" to accept all; having a Mac I have no antivirus software nor any firewalls
4. I "clicked here to visit this page" in the instructions .........BUT ............ that took me to a PSE 11 download page, not 10
5. That dropped a .dmg called "AdobeDownloadAssistant.dmg" into my downloads box.
6. I opened the .dmg file, which took me to a window with an "Install Adobe Download Assistant" folder icon which
7. I opened. I was asked if I wanted to download it from the internet; I clicked "Open"
8. Another window opened; its message said "The same version of the application you opened already exists on this system. Would
     you like to run the version already installed?".
     A. Because I used the same Adobe i.d. when I tried the download on the Air as I used when I created the Adobe account on the
     MacBookPro I wondered if Adobe thinks the PSE10 on my older MacBookPro is on the newer Air. I did check the Applications
     listed in the Air's Finder and PSE 10 was not there although I had tried to install it earlier today before my first post on this matter
     in this forum.
     B. Given the above, I clicked on a "Run Now" option in the window mentioned in the first line of # 8 here and it
9. Took me to a Adobe Download Assistant window with a message "Make the most of your trial " referring apparently to 11
     when what I want to put onto the Air is the 10 I bought last August. I did check the registration on Adobe's site of the purchase
     of 10 last August and it showed everything correctly, including "mul" which I took to mean I could put it on multiple laptops.
     Maybe !
10. I was aksed in that box to choose my level of familiarity with photo editing software and I chose the middle one.
11. I also noticed in the bottom third of that box a blue download bar which got "stuck" at about 2/3 done. The yellow triangle with
     an exclamation point inside was followed by this message : "Error downloading this product (Error 109). Check you network
     connection or destination disk. You can also uses the "Reset product download" button. My network connection was full bars
     the whole time.
     Given that there was an error message - that the download was not complete - that explains my surprise in # 8 above that
     "the download already exists........". That can't be given the error message I quoted in # 11.
12. There is/was no "Reset download button" to be seen so I cllcked on an 'x' by it and it closed the stalled download bar.
And, after all this voluminous [sorry] activity that's where I'm stuck.
No PSE 10 on the Air
Can't d/l a trial of 11, even if I wanted to.
Extremely frustrating.
Adboe's website does not appear to offer any contact with an Adobe person to solve this other than paying $39, which does not seem right.

Elements 12 upgrade after new Mac OS is released?

I want to purchase Elements 12 for Mac which currently works with OS 10.7-10.9. Apple is coming out with a new operating system in the next few months. If I buy Elements 12 now, will Elements 12 work with that new OS, or will Adobe release an free upgrade? It wouldn't make sense for me to buy it now if I won't be able to use it in a few months. Adobe never releases that kind of update for PSE. If you're doubtful, the best thing would be to do the trial so you can see for yourself whether it works or not.
However, given that PSE 6 through 12 work in 10.9, I would say the odds are good.

Re-install PS Elements 8 on a new Mac?

I have just bought a new iMac, and want to install PS Elements 8 on it, which I purchased from Adobe (so it's a registered copy with a serial number). How do I install it on the new machine?
just drag the application from one Applications folder to the other? (the computers are connected by an ethernet cable for file transfer)
download from Adobe? I can't find a link on the website
I don't really want to be forced to upgrade to PSE 12.

It’s not possible to drag and drop the application as the installation also uses a range of other system files and folders. So you need your original installation disk or download package to do a fresh install. I recommend you consider PSE12 or if you also shoot video, the combo with Premiere Elements 12. They are both 64 bit apps on the mac so you should see a faster editing experience. Previous versions of PSE are 32bit only, meaning they can use only a limited amount of RAM (memory)
There are presently some good holiday discounts on PSE12/PRE12 until early January.

Transfering iPhoto '08 library to new mac iPhoto '11

I have a new iMac OS Lion with iPhoto '11. I wanted to migrate my huge (67,000 photos) iPhoto '08 library from my older Snow Leopard iMac. I've got them hooked up via ethernet.
Since it looked like the newer iPhoto had some different little files inside the "iPhoto Library" compared to the older version, I showed contents on both and transfered the older files/folders into the new virgin library, so as to keep the fresh empty files untouched, just in case there were new prefs etc.
But when I open the new iPhoto it still seems to think its empty.
Should I have just copied the entire old iPhoto library over and replaced the new one? Or is there a special command to tell the new iPhoto to start whatever conversion process etc?

ps: I didn't use the migration assistant since I didn't want any legacy crap from the past three mac to move over, so that is why I am manually moving music, docs, etc over.

yes
NEVER make any changes of any sort to the contents of the iPhoto library - it is a SQL database you there are no user servicable parts within it
Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the existing iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop if you have any photos you want in it, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

I'm wanting to move my Elements 8 program frrom my old PC (XL) to a new laptop (Vista). But I bought the program online, so don't have the DVD, and the program doesn't seem to be available online a nymore. What should I do?

If you registered your software, you should be able to download it from your account, I think.

Need to load Elements 11 on my new Mac

For over thirty years, I have been a pc user and several years ago began using Elements 6. About a year ago I upgraded to E-11 and have been happy with the results I have been getting.
Recently I Changed over to a Mac Mini and have not loaded E-11 because on my disk it says windows> I don't remember if in the original package I had a Mac disk or not, but since I was a dyed-in-†he-wool PC user, I probably tossed it. Is there any way I can get a copy of Elements 11 for Mac Mavericks?
