Transferring existing Music onto another persons login in Windows XP

Help! I have just purchased an IPOD NANO for my daughter. Transferring CD's into her ITUNES is no problem, ie disc in, import and the tracks are seen in ITUNES. The problem I have is when I Copy and Paste a music file from my ITUNES folder into my Daughters ITUNES folder. The tracks are seen in the file but when I goto ITUNES, the tracks are not shown. The only way I can get these tracks into ITUNES is to physically open every music file individually and it then opens in ITUNES. There must be a way of synchronising!!! Please help!! Thanks in advance, Mike

Open iTunes from your daughter's acct, and go to Preferences. Click Advanced. DEselect "Copy files to itunes Music folder when adding to library file". Click OK. Go to the the File menu and choose 'Add to Library' or 'Add Folder to Library'. Find the music you want and click choose. This should do the trick. Of course, I'm assuming you're both on one computer w/2 accts.

  • Is there a way of transfering my music onto another computer??!! :)

*can i just download itunes and plug in my ipod...or would that just delete my stuff??*
If your iPod is set to sync automatically on connection then your songs will be erased if you connect to an empty iTunes. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Once you are safely connected you can change the setting: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However if you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • What is the best way of putting music onto another iphone?

What is the best way of putting music onto another iphone for a different itunes account user and different phone carrier? multiple user accounts on my mac? or home sharing to put the music on? then they have their own itunes account for apps etc?

    Hi DVX100Shooter,
Congratulations on getting your son a new iPad, I am sure he will enjoy it.
Family Sharing is one way of managing both purchases and content between members of a related group of people. Each member must have their own Apple ID. You can choose what music you wish to share with the family from your own account. See this article -
OS X Yosemite: Share purchases with your family
In particular the section titled Hide a purchase from other family members
The music library on your son's iPad is separate from yours, but under Family Sharing you agree to pay for all purchases made through the iTunes store. If you wish to control what is purchased you can set up the Ask to Buy option for any family member under adult age in your location. See this article for details -
Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
Gift cards may not be used for billing of purchases under family sharing, with the exception that a family member may use gift cards to purchase their own content. See this article for information about Family Sharing billing policies -

The shared family photo album is available to all family members.

  • Transferring iPod library onto another computer

I don't have a computer at home so I have had to use my work computer to upload all of my music onto my iPod. However, I am leaving my job in the near future, so I will have to erase my iPod library on my computer before I do. Will I be able to transfer my library from my iPod onto another computer in order to continue adding music/delete music?

    Tracy,
This article in the Apple Knowledge Base outlines the various options for transferring music from one computer to another:

You'll have to determine which method best suits your circumstances.

  • How Do I transfer my itunes library music onto another PC?

    Hi,
I got my ipod video (30 GB) a few months ago, and I have always transferred my music to the ipod from the same computer. However, now I'm using a new computer, and when I install itunes on it (with the provided CD), and open the program, the library is blank. My ipod music doesn't show up in it, which means I cannot put new songs on the ipod.
    Can anyone offer some suggestions?

You can use your iPod to transfer your existing iTunes folder to a new computer: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173-en
However if you no longer have access to your original computer you need to read this one which deals with ways and other programs to move the music directly off your iPod: http://playlistmag.com/help/2005/01/2waystreet/

  • How do I download my music onto another computer, when I no longer have the music on another computer, ipod, or any other storage device?

Just as it says: How can I download music again that I have already bought and downloaded once on another computer?
I no longer have the music on another computer (I no longer have the original computer) and the only other place I put the music was my Ipod that I lost. (Im sure its somewhere in my house, but can't seem to find it)

Whether you can re-download your past music purchases will depend upon what country that you are in. On the iTunes store home page on your computer there should be a Puchased option under Quick Links on the right-hand side of it - go into that and see if music is an option for re-downloading

  • Keeping music from another persons itunes library

I got a 30G video ipod for christmas, and I used my sisters itunes to put some of her music on it while I was home from school. Now i'm back at school on my computer and itunes is telling me if i want to link my ipod to MY itunes library, it will replace everything on my ipod with what is currently in MY library. I can't put my sisters music into my itunes and i can't put the music in my itunes onto my ipod. How can I keep all of my sisters music on my ipod, put her music into my itunes, and be able to link my ipod to MY itunes library instead of hers? Somebody help a brother out.

  • Transfering bought music onto a new computer?

I just bought a new computer and when I plugged in my ipod it asked to transfer bought music. I clicked yes and then it said it couldnt transfer any of my bought stuff becuase it says it's not authorized to play on this computer. Any one have an idea of how to fix this??

The instructions are in the link I provided:
"To authorize a computer to play purchases using your Apple Account
Select a song, video, or audiobook you've purchased (in your library or the Purchased playlist).
    Click the Play button.
If the computer is already authorized, the item plays. If the computer has not yet been authorized, iTunes asks you to enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the song."

  • ITunes no longer finds music on another PC upgraded to Windows 8

We store all of our music on a central home theater PC, and the itunes library running on a Vista laptop refers to all of these files.
Windows on the laptop has no issues still accessing the music files on the PC after upgrading to Windows 8 but now iTunes can't locate any of the files.
iTunes says it can't locate them, but if you look at the location in the info pane is says something like file://localhost//HTPC/Family/Music etc. which seems perfectly reasonable to me.

That wasn't it. The problem was that the network share on Vista was lost when I upgraded to Windows 8. I finally figured this out after much frustration only to find that letting another PC share all a user's files makes ALL the Windows 8 Metro apps crash!
The way I fixed it was to use "net share Family=c:\users\family"
There didn't seem to be any way to do this through the Windows 8 GUI
Then I had to allow sharing for "everyone" on all the Family files
Now iTunes finds all the files where it used to

  • Loading iTunes music onto a Lexar MP3 using Windows Media Player

After I've purchased a song from iTunes, what do I do to load it on to a Lexar MP3 player that uses Windows Media Player? Thank you very much

Tracks purchased from any legal download store carrying major-label content, including the iTunes Store, are copy-protected (with the exception of music on EMI's labels, much of which is also available in a higher-quality, nonprotected format) and so cannot be directly converted to any other format. You can, however, burn the tracks purchased from the iTunes Store out to an audio CD, at which point it will act just like any other normal audio CD.
