Transferring from a PC to Mac

I bought Lightroom 2.6 for my PC about 18 months ago. I am now getting a Mac- is there anyway to transfer the software or do I need to repurchase Lightroom for a Mac?

Unlike the rest of the non-Cloud Creative Suite, Lightroom is a cross-platform license (Mac and/or Windows) with up to 2 activations allowed.
So you should be able to insert your existing DVD or download LR 2.6 for Mac and activate using your existing serial number.

I'm having issues transferring photos from my iphone5 to pc/mac. I have over 200 photos on my phone however when I go to transfer only the last 20 or so photos are visible to transfer. why is this the case? it was working ok before now I cannot access all my photos from the computer. please help!

Whenever you plug in your iPhone to your Mac with iPhoto installed, iPhoto will automatically open up a screen giving you the option to download the photos in your iPhone...At least that's how it's set up in my computer. But I believe that's for photos taken by the iPhone.

Hi can anyone help me. I was wondering if it is possible to transfer tv shows to my mac with a firewire connection so I can burn to dvd and how do you do so and what programs do I have to use. Thanx in advance.

Transferring from iPhone/iPad to Mac, same Apple ID.

I've recently taken the unbelievably over-complicated liberty of creating a new Apple ID for a number of reasons - the main one being I've put a lot of time into consolidating all my email address into my new @me.com address (rather like it), Apple won't let me change my old Apple ID primary address to this new email and, call it OCD, that irritates me. Also, a number of my details are incorrect and ones cannot be changed (in the developer area).
Fortunately I have only *purchased* 3 applications over the 3 years I've been using iPhones - I live off the free ones! I invested in a new iPad last week, hence all this change. I noticed yesterday that updating an application requires you to login to the account that you downloaded that app on, which is fair enough. So, I've literally re-downloaded every single app (bar the 3 paid ones: Pages, Whatsapp and Angry Birds, of course) on both my iPhone and iPad, today; fun.
Now, I have synced my iPad and iPhone to my iMac (I should probably spread my wings from Apple, I know). The iMac is fully up-to-date, latest iTunes/Lion, etc..
My questions are: If I go home and delete (well, archive) ALL the applications stored on my iMac within iTunes - bar the 3 paid ones - will they transfer from my iPhone + iPad back into iTunes? And, at this point, will that complete the move from one ID to another? If I delete them from iTunes, will this just remove them from my devices on next sync?
I don't mind entering old details for the 3 apps, in fact, it's only Pages I use and that was actually gifted to me - I'll re-purchase eventually.

How do I get synced photo albums transferred from iphone to my mac?

I recently had to replace my hard drive on my Macbook and now that I have replaced the drive I would like to recover the pictures on my iphone.
I was able to get the camera roll photos using image capture but I am unable to get the photo albums that were synced from my previous iphoto library. My iPhone 4S is jailbroken so I could go in via SSH but the problem is that I cannot even locate the photos.
Is there a way to get those photos back onto my Macbook?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The photos "synched" from a computer to your iPhone aren't really the original photos. They're low resolution thumbnails suitable for display on the phone, but not practical for anything else. If you didn't bother to save the original photos before replacing your computer's hard drive, your pictures are gone.

Transferring from old to new Mac

I would like to transfer some of the files, apps etc on our old Mac G4 to a new Mac Mini. Problem is we only have one monitor. Any thoughts on the best way? G4 is running on 10.4.11 and Mini has the latest. We do have a Powerbook as well.

The Domains.site2 file transferred from another mac won't open in iweb

Just transfered a Domains.site2 file from one mac to another in the applications support/iweb folder. But when I open iweb I get the error: can't read Domains.site2 file. Any thoughts on why this might be? It's a large file - over 2 gigs, transferred from an iMac running OX 10.5 to a macbook running OX 10.6

Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
Click to view full size
launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
launch iWeb and try again.

You need to do it through iTunes, by unsyncing them
Wtih your iPhone connected, open iTunes on your computer, and click on your iPhone's name.
This should bring up the Overview Page, then click on the Photos Tab.
From their uncheck the folders that have the images you want top remove from your phone. Then sync the phone. itunes will remove the pictures during the sync process.

Problem with transferring psds from PC cs2 to Mac cs3

Hello I'm having an issue with a psd file that was made on a PC using cs2.. i can't open up the file on a mac with cs3.. any reason why?

If it is a Fonts issue, be aware that not all fonts are transferable from PC to Mac and vice versa.
I have to say though, that in the past when I've had conflicts like that it's opened the file and gave the option of substituting the font. Don't have CS3 though.
I'd still like to know how the files are being transferred.

HT4889 How do I get the files that transferred from my old mac to this new mac to all merge so I am not using 2 set ups? In other words, I have stuff on the "new mac" and everything else on the "old mac" even though they are on the same computer.

Did you use Migration Assistant? If you set up your new Mac first, you created a user account and when you used MA later, it transferred over the old one. The only way to avoid that is to use Setup Assistant at the beginning of the setup. I used MA once and spent a long time getting rid of duplicates - you can either do that manually or start over: use recovery (Command + R or Command + Option + R keys) during startup, go to Utilities > Disk Utility, erase your disk and download/install again. While going through the setup, use Setup Assistant - it will port over your one and only user account rather than create another.

More compatible are OpenOffice or NeoOffice. Also if you are using a PowerPC Mac you may not be able to use the most recent Office anyway. Make sure the version of Office you get is compatible with your Mac. PPC indicates PowerPC, which was only found on Macs early 2006 and older. Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to determine which CPU is on your Mac. If it says G3, G4, or G5 it is PowerPC. If it says Intel Core you can upgrade to Snow Leopard minimum and possibly the latest Office, if it says Intel Core2Duo (with the 2 in the middle) or Core i with some number you may be able to upgrade to Lion, but certainly no trouble wiht the latest Office.

No. Hook it up to any computer running iTunes. Make sure that you do not have any of the other tabs set up to sync, so that you do not overlay the info you have on your device for Music, Movies, etc., then go the the Music tab and un-check Sync Music. This should remove all sync'd music from your device. (this is presuming that the Mac you sync with does not have any photos you do want to sync with your device. If it does have any photos you want to sync, then instead of turning off the Music syncing altogether, you can just select what you do want to sync, and the sync will remove all other sync'd albums).
