Transferring from Ipod to Mac

Having changed from a PC to a Mac when I've connected my Ipod and logged in it's only transferred my purchases from Itunes, and not all the songs I'd copied off my own CDs onto the Mac. So now I only have about 40 songs on the pC and over 400 on the Ipod. Any suggestions please. Not recopying them either, because having assumed I'd be using an Ipod forever I sold the CDs on Ebay. Any suggestions please. Thanks

Did you use Migration Assistant? If you set up your new Mac first, you created a user account and when you used MA later, it transferred over the old one. The only way to avoid that is to use Setup Assistant at the beginning of the setup. I used MA once and spent a long time getting rid of duplicates - you can either do that manually or start over: use recovery (Command + R or Command + Option + R keys) during startup, go to Utilities > Disk Utility, erase your disk and download/install again. While going through the setup, use Setup Assistant - it will port over your one and only user account rather than create another.

Have you tried re-authorizing your computer?
Select the "Store" menu in iTunes (it's with the other tabs on the top of the iTunes window), and click on "Deauthorize computer" to deauthorize this computer.
Once you've deauthorized, go to the Store menu again, and now select "Authorize computer" to authorize this computer again.
After doing that, try syncing purchases to your iPod - do you still get the "now authorized" message?

Trying to move songs from iPod to Mac

I accidentally deleted some songs from iTunes, without even thinking, I emptied the trash can. I thought they were duplicates, but they weren't! The only other place I have these songs backed up are on my iPod Touch. I had it in "Manual" mode, and am trying to put move these songs to my iMac, but it's not working. These are songs I ripped from a CD years ago, and unfortunately can't find the CD now to put them back on the iMac.
Is there any way to get these transferred from my iPod Touch to my iMac?

Music you bought from the iTunes store can be transferred from the iPod to computer via iTunes. Look under the File menu. For the rest, you'll need to use a third party program. I used to recommend Senuti as a free solution (and the one that I use) but it is now shareware so while I know that a program called 'Ipod to Mac 12' says it does the job and is free, I can't recommend it because I haven't used it yet.

I recently lost my whole hard drive and had to re-image my machine. I was able to add my back up files into my "new" iTunes, however there are about 500 songs that I had failed to back up onto disc that are still on my iPod. I was told by Apple that only purchased files can be transferred. Most of these files are an iTunes purchase but there are some tracks which I uploaded from CD's. Will those be lost? I'm afraid to synch my laptop and my iPod because I don't want to erase and synch with this limited library. How do I use my iPod as a storage medium and transfer all those files onto my machine?

I have a MacBook and my hard drive just died. I was wondering if I could move my photos and music that are currently on my iPod back on to my mac's new hard drive. My ipod was synched with the itunes on my old comp. but then i got a new one for school, and i was wondering if there was a way for me to take my music and video from the ipod and put it on my new computer, i really dont want to have to redownload everything
