Transferring from itunes music library to iphone playlist?

Hi. I have had to restore my PC from factory settings and am trying to complete my iphone playlist. I have the latest OS for both itunes and iphone.
I have some songs in my itunes music library which I can transfer easily to/from my ipod and playlists. When I connect my iphone to the PC, I cannot do this and cannot seem to add any songs to my iphone apart from the 'purchased' ones.
Can this be done at all?
Thanks.

Here's how I synced iPo=hone 6 (updated to OSX 8.3) with iTunes (Version 1.1.2.27)
1.     Turned on iTunes match on the computer (iMac) where my music library was located.
2.     Turned on iTunes match on iPhone 6 (Settings>Music>iTunes Match).
3.     Hard boot iPhone.
4.     Restarted iPhone.
5.     Disconnected iPhone to computer.
6.     Closed iTunes on computer.
7.     Restarted computer.
8.     Connected iPhone to computer then restarted iPhone.
9.     Restarted iTunes.
10.   Clicked on iPhone icon in iTunes.
11.   In iPhone SUMMARY menu, selected BACKUP option button THIS COMPUTER.
12.   Selected BACK UP NOW.
13.   Following backup, in OPTIONS section, checked box SYNC ONLY CHECKED SONGS AND VIDEOS.
14.   Clicked APPLY.
15.   Clicked SYNC.
The key is making sure you turn on ITUNES MATCH, then matching up your music library.
Good luck.

    Hi, thebarista.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue with your iTunes Library folder.  Here are a couple articles that will help you troubleshoot this issue.

  • I use itunes to store my music but I use Virtual DJ Broadcaster to play it. Somehow itunes has changed from Itunes Music Library to Itunes library. Virtual DJ does not Recognize the change.

I use itunes to store my music but I use Virtual DJ Broadcaster to play it. Somehow itunes has changed from Itunes Music Library to Itunes library. Virtual DJ does not Recognize the change. Virtual DJ  at present seeing an older version of my libraries. Is it possible to Save my last library and Playlist and re-name everything else in my itunes account so it will again show "Itunes Music Library" Past libraries are of no consiquence . I'm hoping removing everything except  the last Library on my computers will make Virtual DJ  recognize it. I tried renameing  the Library to "Itunes Music Library" but it did not work. I fear the problem is in the Registry and without the correct path I am reluctand to play around  in there. Any help would be appreciated.

Incidentally, my first thought was to map a network share from the NAS to my computer, so that my music files appear on the Z: drive, say on my computer. I could then set up iTunes to store music etc in that folder, and to copy all new items to that folder. However, if I do that, all that'll happen is that on my NAS, the library file will become out of date as I add music to the collection but not to the index.

Did you transfer the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder?
Or did you only transfer /Muisic/iTunes/iTunes media? folder?

  • Syncing itunes music library to iphone 4s

I have recently upgraded from an iphone 3gs to an Iphone 4s.  I have successfully transferred all my apps, data etc to the new phone but my itunes music library will not sync.  The songs are showing in my music, but 90% of them are greyed out and some tracks are duplicated!.  I have tried removing itunes from my pc (I have windows xp by the way!) and re-installing it.  this has not worked.  I have tried 'downloads' from itunes from my phone and this has frozen on the first track saying download error.  I have phoned Apple support where i spent over 2 hours (on 2 occassions) trying to sort the issue out and it still doesn't work.  Please help I am getting very frustrated and don't know what to do next, surely its not meant to be this difficult to listen to a song!!!  Thankyou

If you check the manually manage music box, tehn you could drag and drop.

  • Establishing a playlist from Itunes Music library from my computer.

For some reason I can no longer make a playlist from my Itunes music on my computer. Every time I try to move a song or album to a playlist, I get the error sign. Anyone have a solution to this problem? This is a rather new development, and I have not changed any settings.

When I bring up my music library and try to drag either an album, or an individual song, a exclamation mark appears after the track number. When I right click on the mark, I get an error message: "This song cannot be imported to playlist because it could not be located. would you like to try to locate?" After this, I can't locate anywhere on my computer.

  • Cannot sync entire iTunes music library to iPhone 6?

Just returned from one on one training at the Apple Store, and the helper could not figure out a solution to my problem. I have 2432 songs in my iTunes  library, but only 1782 of them will sync onto the phone.  iTunes Match is turned off.  The phone is 64GB so there is plenty of storage space. (38.2 GB available)  We are syncing through a USB connection.  We tried deleting all the music followed by a fresh sync.  700+ songs won't transfer .. I haven't yet determined which ones.  The helper said the genius will probably suggest reinstalling the OS.  Anybody else have this problem? Phone is running IOS 8.0.2  MBA is running 10.9.5. iTunes is 11.4

  • Ringtone mark disappears from iTunes Music Library

I went to see if anymore of my Music Library had become eligable for ringtones. Not only it hadn't but all of the ones that had a mark in the ringtone column are no marked! What happened? Is the ringtone eligibility time limited? Since Apple can't make all of the itms song eligible, are they rotating batches in and out?

No, there's no time rotation on ringtone available tracks. It depends on Apple being granted approval on a per-track basis by contract. Apparently ringtones are a very lucrative business for the content providers (record companies) and they watch their ringtone coffers like hawks...
Regarding the strange vanishing ringtone indicators, I think this is a commonly seen thing, and may have to do with the software still being squirrely (needs the kinks ironed out). To get them back, try going into your main music library to a track that has the little bell -- one that you have not made into a ringtone. Then right click (or ctrl-click) on the track, and select "Create Ringtone...". That should bring up the ringtone create controls at window bottom. iTunes will now 'talk' to the Music Store and should refresh your 'ringtone-able tracks'. You can cancel out of the 'create ringtone' dialogue.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot drag songs from my music library to new playlist, nor re-arrange old playlists

OK.  I have read a lot of old posts (2008-09) with the same problem with older versions, but I have a new iMac running 10.6 and iTunes 10.5.2 and I cannot drag songs from my library to a new playlist I've created.  And now I cannot change the play order within a playlist.  I have contacted Apple and they couldn't help me either.  I even talked to a supervisor.  He was stumpped.  It looks like a bug has infected the system.  I have an older iMac and iTunes on the same network, but it doesn't have the same prioblem.  I believe if it works, don't update.
I have tried all the tricks I could find to work around this and no change.
This is so frustrating that a simple, but blessed manuver that I have loved is now broke.
    Help!

"ok and how exactly do i do that? "
Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.
Did you fail to maintain a backup?  That is not good.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphon:  File>Transfer Purchases

I have a similar problem.  I recieved an IPAD for my birthday, and my daughter updated my itunes library so i can use it with the ipad...and somehow all my songs (unpurchased from itunes, and downloaded  from a large collection of CDs) ...and play lists were deleted.   I still have them on my old ipod, and wonder how to get them back onto my computer so I can redistribute some of them to the ipad.  I must be getting too old for this tech stuff, it gets less user friendly every year.

  • Transferring iTunes music library from a mac to a PC

    Hi
Does anyone know how i can transfer all the songs on my mac iTunes to my new windows iTunes? I followed the instructions on the msn support website but these instructions must only be for transferring the iTunes library from a mac to a mac, or from a pc to another pc, and not from a mac to pc or vice versa.
I`ve just bought a laptop to take to university and i want to bring my music library with me.
When i loaded up my itunes from mac onto the pc it just keeps saying windows does not recognise the type of file. Is there a way of changing the settings so that windows will recognise and run a mac file?
If anyone knows that'd be of great help

The music files will transfer and play without a problem.
You will need to download a Windows version of iTunes and the iPod Updater in order to use the PC. The Mac versions will not work.
    iPod Updater
    iTunes Download Page
There may be some problem with the Windows version of iTunes reading the Mac's iTunes Library file. This may prevent you from completely moving over some of the music meta-data from the Mac to the PC.
There have been some posts on this, but I'll need to search for them.
Also see this for the transfer process: Buegie, "transfering music to another pc." #4, 11:22pm Oct 14, 2005 CDT
EDIT: Based on an old post I had copied into my "iPod Hints" file, here is how one contributer gave a high-level process:
i 1) copy the iTunes Music folder to your Windows machine, replacing the existing folder (back up the existing one first)
i 2) copy the iTunes Music Library.xml file to your Windows machine, and change the name to e.g. iTunesMac.xml so iTunes won't write over it.
i 3) delete any "iTunes Library.itl" file (back up the existing one)
i 4) run iTunes, and do File > Import... and pick iTunesMac.xml
    Hope this helps.

You should be storing everything on your computer.  Just sync it to the iPhone of your choice from your computer.

  • How do I delete ringtones on my iPhone 5 that I created from songs in my iTunes music library?

I created several ringtones for my iPhone 5 from songs in my iTunes music library but they are only 1 second long.  I need to delete them and recreated them so they are 30 seconds long.  How do I remove them from my iPhone and iTunes?

No -- an iTunes sync has no effect on photos in the Camera Roll; each time you sync using iTunes it sets the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current iTunes setting/selections.

  • How do I manually drag and drop songs from music library to iPhone 4 using iTunes 11?

How do I manually drag and drop songs from music library to iPhone using iTunes 11?

If you manually manage music... on iTunes 11, go to the top left corner and there will be a pull down bar. Click "show menu bar". From there, go to view, then show sidebar. Magically, it looks like the previous versions of iTunes. Took me 3 hours of trial and error and searching through forums to figure out. Tried calling Apple to have them walk me through it and they said they wouldn't help me since I don't have Apple Care. Whatever. Hope this helps!!
