Transferring from pc to itunes

..for max. music storage, new ipod 160, what would be best; under summary menu, check convert box and choose lower bitrate (as it says AAC beside {note;i was told to take p.c music and convert to AAC when uploading into itunes}) or leave unchecked.. or is there an even better way?
..also under peferences/ adv. -which is best for storage/sound (sounds contradicting-good sound may sacrifice storage);
-lower bits/ audio? (16 or 24)
-lower bitrate playback (varous khz) ?
...i know this may seem like menial questions, as i've a 160gb, but i've a mass catalog and would like to be sure i can utilize this costly purchase as best as i can..

..allswell now..
hooray for me

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

  • Problem transfering from iPod to iTunes

Hi. I'm trying to transfer the music from my iPod to my iTunes. I have done this before on the same computer (Vista), and it has worked perfectly.
However, this time for some reason when I tried to copy all of the files from the iPod folder into a Music folder, it got half way before stalling and freezing - leaving me unable to close it.
Now, whenever I try to copy individual coded folders (eg F14), or the files within, the "copy" bar gets about 10% of the way before stopping, and staying there, with the predicted copying time staying the same.
I have no idea what to do and I can't find anywhere on the internet with a solution to my problem. Any ideas what's going wrong?
    Thanks.

I tried that and I couldn't find a single bad file...
I ended up downloading a program that transfers files directly between the computer and iPod. I lost half of my library but to be honest, I don't miss that much of it - most of it was old stuff I never listened to anymore.

  • Transfering from iPod to iTunes ... is it possible?

Recently my iTunes had a major problem where it would not open. Long story short, I had to reformat my hard drive, so I lost EVERYTHING. I couldn't save the music, because they thought the virus might be in my music files. So, the only place I have my music is in my iPod.
Does anyone know how to go about transferring music from your iPod to iTunes, or where on this site it tells you how? I know it has something to do with turning your iPod into hardware, but I don't know how to do that...
    HELP!!!!

  • Transfering from ipod to itunes libary

    hi there
my pc completely crashed out,on geting it fixed i re downloaded itunes and my libary is blanc,is there a way of transfering all the stuff on my ipod classic into my itunes libary.
    yours hopeingly,
    t.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Not all songs transfering from ipod to itunes?, Not all songs transfering from ipod to itunes?

Hi! Basically I have all of my music on my main pc, but I've just got a laptop and I would like to transfer my music from my itouch to my laptop, but it's only transferring 178 out of my 688 songs, does anyone know how to solve this?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is ituens purchases.
The ipod is not a backup device.  Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transfering from iPod to iTunes

    Hey Everyone.
I understand why apple made this.. or at least I think they made this not possible.
I have been stupid and sometimes will drag a song file directly to my ipod, and not the iTunes library... and now as I prepare to buy my iTouch I want to transfer all my music to the iTouch.
Unfortunately I have no idea which songs I havent added to the library, and iTunes will not let me add songs to my library from the iPod.
is there any way I can do this?

If you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

  • Song data no longer transferring from iPhone to iTunes since iOS 7 update?

I recently updated my iPhone with iOS 7 and iTunes to 11.1.  Since I've done this, when I plug my phone into iTunes, iTunes does not register songs that I've recently listened to on my phone has having been played.  The "Last Played" column does not update.  This creates issues with my Smart Playlists, which I have set up to to choose only songs that I have not listened to in the last 5 weeks.  I've tried creating a new Smart Playlist to see if the old ones just weren't working properly anymore, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.  It's the lack of updating in the "Last Played" information for my songs.  Does anyone know of something I can do to try and fix it?  I really like having Smart Playlists that keep me from having to hear too many of the same songs over and over.  Thanks!

  • Compare iPod to itunes and transfering from iPod to iTunes

Does anyone know if a way I can see a comparision between what is on my iPod and what is in my iTunes library?
I basically want to see everything that is in my library but not on my iPod.
Also does anyone know of a way to eaisly transfer music from my iPod to my iTunes library? I just got a new computer and now all my music is in my iPod but I can't get it on my new computer and into the iTunes library.

To transfer songs from your iPod to iTunes,
Connect the iPod to the computer, open iTunes, you will get a message "do you want to link to this iTunes music library", say "no" to this. Change the syncing option to "manually manage songs and playlists".
In iTunes, click on Edit and then click on Preferences.
Click on the advanced tab, and select the "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library". Click OK.
Then, click file, add folder to library, select the iPod and then click open.
When the update is complete, go back into Edit, Preferences, Advanced, and uncheck the "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library".

  • Transferring from pc to itunes and ipod nano 7th gen

when i transfer music files from my pc i get the message to convert from wma or mp3 into aac format which is fair enough but often when they appear in my ipod the albums get split into two or more, sometimes 12 albums and also a lot of the titles of the tracks dont appear so that my ipod show blanks under an album or artists name when there are tracks there.  any help out there please.

You have a few things going on that are not clear.
You can import your music into iTunes from the iTunes File menu, Import to Library. You can select a folder or a set of tracks. You do not have to import them individually. You can also just drag a folder of music and "drop" it on iTunes.
You can then, if you want to, copy your music to the iTunes folder. You don't have to, but if you want to go to File/Library/Consolidate Library.
If it says that music cannot be found this means that the music file has been moved since it was last played in or imported into  iTunes.
To sync your music to your iPhone you can connect your phone to your computer, click on its name in iTunes, then either check "Manually Manage music and videos" in iTunes and drag your music onto your phone, or, what I think is much easier, UNCHECK this option, then click on the Music tab. Select the music you want on the phone, then click Sync.

  • Please help.. having to do with transferring from yamipod to itunes!

hello... i have my library set up on my YamiPod program. but the problem is.... how do i get it into iTunes? I already have everything selected... what next?
by the way, i have already looked at the YamiPod docs... no help there!!!!!!
    thank you

Firstly Yamipod and iTunes are not very compatible, Yamipod will probably not detect your iPod if iTunes is running in the background. You will have to overcome this through Task Manager before beginning. If you are not comfortable with doing this don't.
To answer your question, if the songs you refer to are on your iPod you will need to CTRL A in Yamipods main window with the iPod connected to select all tracks, then right click and select "Copy To". Next a dialogue will open asking where you want to copy the tracks to (e.g. My Music) make your choice and click copy. Its best to create a new folder for this purpose as if you use an existing folder you may get duplicate tracks.
Once all the files have transferred restart iTunes and click "File" then "Add Folder To Library" and select the folder to which you copied the songs. iTunes will now add the folders to its library on the PC.
    Hope this helps

  • Video problem when transfering from DVD to itunes

I have tried various windows based programs like PQ DVD and cucucsoft to convert my DVDs into iPod compatible movies. The problem I have been having is that after I have the movie saved on my PC, when I try to import it to itunes, the audio comes across fine but the video is a jumble of wavy blue or brown screens and nothing comes across. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, since I have followed all the instructions provided on the websites. I have already tried 3 different programs with the same result each time. If this helps, I have been trying their trial software. I haven't purchased these programs yet. Please help...am at my wit's end!!!

  • How do I find an audio file that I put on an iPod from a non-iTunes software?

I'm talking about on the iPod itself, not looking at the folders when it is connected to the computer.
I've put some audio files, podcasts and songs, that transfered from a non-iTunes podcast aggregator and songs that weren't in my iTunes library, but could not find them on the actual iPod device.  This, despite the files showing up on the device when looking at a list of files on computer screen once I connect to a computer.
Asked this a few times now, and never got an answer.  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

    - Only iTunes purchases will copy from iPod to computer.
    - If you sync manually and do not specify those modified songs to sync they will not sync to the iPod nor will the original version be deleted from the iPod
    - If you sync automatically and include those songs or select the modified songs to sync manually, the songs in the iPod should be replaced with the modified songs. However sometimes that does not happen
