Transferring from RealPlayer or Windows Media Player

Can one transfer music directly from RealPlayer or Windows Media Player into iTunes? I downloaded some songs into RealPlayer then burned them onto a CD, then tried to import them into iTunes but iTunes would not recognize some of the songs, so I would like to transfer directly from these other player programs into iTunes (and have them go into iTunes in the correct format for transferring to an IPOD. I haven't bought an IPOD yet. I am just searching this all out to make sure it is going to work the way I hope.

No way to know, though a RM or WM player would require Real and Microsoft to program one.
There is a chance this will happen with the SDK coming in Feb.
Those files can be converted to an iPhone format (ie Quicktime) providing you have a converter and there are no DRM restrictions in place in the file.

  • ITunes Store files don't work with Realplayer or Windows Media Player

I tried posting a question but it did not allow me so I am going to try posting it here. I need some help but not sure where to go to post the questions or what e-mail address I can use to e-mail the appropiate place to get help so if you can help me out that would be great.
Problem 1. I won a ITunes gift card recently and set up a account and downloaded some music. Now the I just learned the file type cannot be played through Realplayer or Windows Media Player that are on my desktop nor can the tracks be put on to my MP3 player. I have deauthorized my computer and still no luck. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do so I can do what I mentioned above? If so what?
Problem 2 - If there is no way to covert the music who do I get contact and how to go about getting a refund for the tracks purchased.
Problem 3 - Sorta linked with #2 Once I get my refund applied to my account is there away for me to cancel my account and or transfer it to a person that does have a IPOD or is able to play Itumes files on their desktop?
    Thanxs in advance.

  • Realplayer or Windows Media Player for iPhone

iphone is working fine for listening to programs that are podcast, but a lot of the stuff i want to hear is only available on realplayer or windows media player. don't really want to sit at my computer and listen to it, would rather do it at work where wifi is available and can use the iphone, but these players are not supported. is there any news on when this might become available, or if apple is even working on this at all? if not, is there any way to save that kind of file in itunes and then get it onto the iphone. sorry if my tech-talk stinks

  • Export from Mac for Windows Media Player - square pixel widescreen

    Hello:
I'm working with a square pixel wide screen iPad animation video. I built comps in AE and am editing in Premiere. I'm having issues with playback in Windows Media Player. Keyframe interpolation and cross dissolves are causing glitches. My pixel ratio is 872x486 And I want to export from Premiere with better results in WMP.
Your help with export settings is greatly appreciated.

  • Best way to go from FCP to Windows Media Player

    Hi,
A friend sent me a video to edit (20Mb) and then wants to be able to view it in Windows Media Player. However, he would also like it to be much smaller than the original size (yes, he is a pain). I tried converting .mov to .avi but the quality is really bad. Any ideas what would be the best way to do this?
    Many thanks
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I use something called episode pro which is great - getting a mov to a wmv is a pain.
firstly you should ask your friend if he can accept a qt file - often people ask you to put in loads of effort to convert files and it turns ou much less effort on their half and they could watch it in quicktime player.....
otherwise export your sequence using quicktime conversion and alter the size options in the quicktime setting to half size or quarterscreen - reducing the size and then convert this with another prog to make it a smaller wmv file.
(or to speed thing along export a qt from FCP with current settings - very quick - and then put that through QT pro to make it smaller before converting it.)
Have been working lately on prog for discovery and their FTP site only accepts wmv - has caused much head scratching - and finally forked out for episode.
The broadband medium settings in quicktime have always given me good results with small file size.

  • How to play music from iPod through Windows Media Player

I don't want to insult anyone's intelligence .... but just in case anyone hasn't yet figured it out, here's how to play music from your iPod on a computer that does not have iTunes installed:
On your computer, connect the iPod to iTunes and click on it's name. Then under the general tab, check "allow disk use". Your iPod will then act as a USB hard drive and will then show up as a drive in My Computer. Now all you need to do is to create a Music folder on it and then copy all your music to it!
Your iPod's USB hard drive should show up under My Computer on most Windows computers. Therefore providing the computer has Windows Media Player installed, you will be able to play all your music on it! This saves you having to bother with portable/travel speakers, some of which sound terrible anyway!

Mains lead for the computer is a bit of a problem on the bus though!

  • I can burn CDs from Windows Media Player, but not from itunes.  I always get Error 2131.  How do I transfer music files from itunes to Window Media Player Library?...or convince itunes to burn a CD?

    Cannot burn CD from itunes.

The thing is, they are in the unprotected format? (
They are protected WMA from when you RIP'd them with WMP. iTunes will not read them.
Go to WMP Tools -> Rip Music.
Under Rip settings, it is set to *Windows Media Audio* and most likely *Copy protect music* is ticked. This is how it is protected.
You will need to reRIP them all from CD.

  • RealPlayer or Windows Media Player files

I noticed that I cannot download Rush on my iPhone. I know, I should have seen that one coming. Is there any prospect of a iPhone version of either of the above programs?

Nobody here as any ideas of what is to come as Apple doesn't publicize it.

I have tried to fix it. However, it is not work. The methods i have used which are
(from: DT20Three) open windows media player, click Organise -> Manage Libraries -> Music and make sure you aren't referencing any unavailable locations. For me, I was referencing an old hdd location for my music. Remove this dead location and update
your default save location and all is good.
(From Vivian Xing) You can also try the following steps:
    1. Load Windows Media Player.
    2. Click Tools\options\devices\ then choose properties of the CD reader and enable Digital for both ripping and playback, uncheck "Use error correction", click OK.
    3. Click Rip music tab, change the Audio Quality to another value (higher or lower than 128kbps). Click OK and then try to rip.
(from Roi A. _) Edit: Also there is a problem with the Rip music tab: 1- nothing happens when i click change save location and it doesn't show the place where it saves now. 2- if I change a setting in the Rip tab and click save or apply, it says "The settings
for ripping music could not be applied."
(from Vivan Xing) I suggest resetting it as below:
    1. Open Control Panel/Programs and Features.
    2. Click "Turn Windows features on or off" in the left pane.
    3. Expand "Media Features", uncheck "Windows Media Player". Click "Yes" to continue, and click OK to quit. Then Restart.
Note: If you turn off WMP, Windows Media Center will be turned off either. You may need to re-configure settings for Windows Media Center after re-enabling it.
    4. Open "Turn Windows features on or off" again. Turn on the features "Windows Media Player" and "Windows Media Center". Restart.
    5. Launch Windows Media Player, initialize the program.
You can also try restoring Media Library as Zachd mentioned.
[The only one method I didn't try is Insert the Windows 7 DVD, it is because I scared if I click install, I might loose all the files in my computer]
Please, I hope there is someone can solve my problem.
    Thank you.

  • Importing music from amazon & windows media player

I'm a complete luddite! How can I copy music from my amazon & windows media player into itunes.

I downloaded songs from Amazon - they came in okay - they're in a folder inside the Music folder but not in the iTunes batch of folders. I have tried Add to Library and they don't come in that way either. I go to the folder and click open and it opens the folder but doesn't import = and when I highlight the contents of the folder they don't import either when I hit 'open'. I do have Amazon pref. set to download to iTunes and I have iTunes set to copy to iTunes folder, just in case, but nothing is in those places -- for some reason neither is working quite right.
[this is a on a Mac not windows but the answer should be more or less the same]

  • ITunes asking for apple ID when importing tracks from Windows Media Player

I have a friend who is a new radio DJ. I have convinced her that iTunes would be better to play her tracks from than WMP. What has happened is that iTunes has imported all of her tracks and albums from WMP but it is asking for her Apple ID for every track she tries to play.
Most of these tracks were imported into WMP from CD so why is iTunes asking for the Apple ID? How do I resolve this for her?

Are these songs MP3's or WMA files? What is the source of those songs? Did you rip from CDs into Windows Media Player? If you did then they shouldn't be protected files. iTunes will now have to convert them to an iTunes compatible file (MP3/AAC)
    I only use MP3.

  • Play Vodcast in Windows Media Player format on Apple TV

I would like to view a video podcast (can only play on RealPlayer or Windows Media Player) on my Apple TV and iMac. How can I make this work?
    Michiel

Yeah, try Flip4Mac. If you want, post a link to the vodcast and we can see if it plays thru F4M, but it probably will. F4M is the way to view WMV content on a Mac now....WM Player is no longer supported by Microsoft for Mac's.

  • Webcast in Windows Media Player format - Can I save this to my iPod

There are news events that are webcast the next day using RealPlayer and Windows Media Player. They play as nice little videos in my web browser, complete with audio.
Is there a way that these things can be captured and converted to a correct format for the iPod. I tried control-clicking (on Mac, equivalent to right-clicking in Windows) and 'download source' only yielded a 24k html document. So, I guess the first goal would be how to download the video file itself.
Anyone have experience with how to do this? Please let me know how to go about it.
    Thank You,
    Ken

I guess I am finding out that they are streaming and can't be downloaded. When I try to download they just download the link to the video.
Maybe someone with experience in capturing online video can look at it for me and see if they know a way to capture it to my computer so I can convert it.
It's so I can get the state of the union address that I missed part of the other night / webcast right at the top:

  • Transferring files from windows media player

how do i transfer all my library from windows media player and napster into itunes? when i first hooked up my ipod to my computer it prompted me to convert my whole library but now i can't figure out how to do it again.
    thanks

how do i transfer all my library from windows media player and napster into itunes?
For songs you ripped yourself from CD, you simply find the WMA files and drag them into the iTunes library. It'll convert them.
For songs you purchased on Napster and such, you can't. Napster and Wal-Mart and all those stores that sell WMA files are incompatible with iTunes and the iPod. Don't buy from those services in the future.
