Transferring iCloud Contacts with Groups to "On My Mac"

Hi
All my contacts/groups were accidentally transferred to iCloud through my mistake.
How am I able to transfer everything back including the groups to "On My Mac" while removing iCloud from my contacts?
I was able to export my contacts, however I'm unsure how to export the groups too.

Check out the article below to go through and backup up your data from iCloud. Once there you can import them into the Contacts app on your Mac by going to the drop down menu File > Import...

We have a BlackBery Torch, the latest operating system for Apple (OSX Lion), the latest update of BlackBerry Desktop software and the latest update on the Torch.
When we perform a sync from the Torch, it syncs all contacts but without the groups. How do you sync contacts with groups? To clarify, the contacts are in groups on the BlackBerry.

You can't, as Microsoft chose not to include the CardDAV protocol necessary to do so (even though they do in Microsoft Office). See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2648915. To sync your iCloud contacts with your Mac you'll need to use the OS X Contacts (Address Book) app.

I've tried each step under "Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts update or setup issues with iOS devices" several times to no avail. I can't get icloud to update Contacts on my iPhone 4. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

I am not able to do the steps that is mentioned about contact syncing off... Any help on getting little more detailed steps.
I want to sync up my MS Exchange contacts with iCloud contacts. Also I would like to then create Group in my contact list as I would like to then foward my mails to Group contacts directly.
For SMS, I am able to find several Apps which I have downloaded but for forwarding one email to few contacts as group is what I am not able to do.

Sharing iCloud Contacts with other apple ID users

We have 5 iPhones in the family. Each iPhone has it's own Apple ID so that we can easily identify one another in the Find My Friends App. I setup the mast list of Calendars under my Apple ID and shared them with everyone, giving each person the permissions to make changes as necessary. Is it possible to do this same type of sharing with the Contact portion of iCloud? Say share groups with family members? If not, I would like to enter it as a feature request. I appreciate anyone's help up front.

You can do something similar by creating a second ("secondary") iCloud account that is shared on all of the phones and sync your contacts with the secondary account. You do this by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap Add Account and select iCloud from the list, provide an Apple ID or tap Get Free Apple ID at the bottom and follow the instructions to set it up. Add this account to all of the phones, and turn Contacts to On in the secondary account. This will merge everyone's contacts to a common list in the secondary account, and all devices sharing it will be able to add, delete and edit this contact list.

How can I replace iCloud contacts with up-to-date contacts on my Macmini?

Originally I used iCloud when it first was released. My contacts went into the cloud. I stopped using iCloud and maintained my Contacts on my Macmini. Open Address Book on your Mac, click All Contacts, select a single contact, press Command-A to select them all (they should all be highlightes), then go to File>Export>Export vCard and save this on your desktop. Then delete all your iCloud contacts by going to icloud.com on your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the gear-shaped icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard to delete them all. Then click on the gear-shaped icon again, choose Import vCard and navigate to the vCard you saved earlier to import your contacts to iCloud.

Sharing iCloud contacts with Microsoft Office on a PC?

I see in the iCloud app on my Windows 7 PC a checkbox to allow the synchronization (sharing? copying?) of iOS mail, contacts, calendars and tasks over to Outlook on the PC. I checked that checkbox and iCloud then added my [email protected] email account to Outlook. I can now see those emails for that account. However, if I click the Contacts tab on the left, it doesn't seem to have brought over any of my iOS contacts.
Looking at the account profile in Outlook I see it's set up as an IMAP/SMTP account so that seems fine.
Is there an additional step I need to perform to bring over my iCloud contacts? I don't have an Exchange server if that makes any difference.

Would like to add that I have tried unloading outlook 2013, reinstalling itunes and icloud and still get the "install could not start do to unexpected error" when trying to install icloud controll panel and sync.

If you are using iCloud on iPhone and Mac, that must be already done. If not, you have to setup iCloud on both devices with the same Apple ID.
Before you try anything, download an app like "Contacts kit" or "My Contacts Backup" to your iPhone and make a backup of your list and send it via email to yourself.

When setting up my iphone the store could import my phone numbers only. They then showed me how to sync with Icloud. To complete the setup of icloud I had to create a gmail account. I was finally able to get my complete address book from my blackberry to gmail. Why can't icloud now sychornize gmail with icloud and the iphone?

How do I sync iCloud calendar with Googlemail account (calendar) on Mac

I keep getting error notifications coming up on my Calendar in the Mac, its related to my Googlemail account, I basically want my google calender to sync with the iCloud so when I put events onto my iCloud it will automatically link with Google Calendar.
because when I add events on my mac on the googlemail account the error pops up and does not add the event onto it (when i check my phone).
I have an andriod phone so I can not just link things through iCloud as Android does not have this app (obviously)

Add your iCloud calendars (and Contacts if you wish) to your Android phone directly, don't try to go through Google.
You will need SmoothSync for Cloud Calendars.

I have a problem with iCloud e-mail account in MS Office iCloud 2011 for Mac. I tried using imap-server: imap.mail.me.com, but when I try to login with my username: [email protected] and iCloud password - I am constantly given information about the error - Authentification Failed.

Outlook on Mac is absolutely not supported. If you go furhter with your experiments you will have contacts deleted and calendars mixed up.
Stick to what Apple says : Lion 10.7.2 ONLY. This "only" means : Apple Mail, iCal and Adressbook of OS X.
zero 3rd party software is supported for iCloud. ZERO.
Outlook on Windows is a completely different Software, do not automatically assume it would do on a Mac what it can on Windows.

There may be ways of retrieving the data, but you coul try a couple of other things just before giving up on the drive.
1. Do you have an alternative USB or Firewire cable you could try (depending how it's connected to your Mac).
2. Does the WD external disk allow connections via both Firewire and USB (mine does)?. If so, if connected via USB try connecting using Firewire instead - and vice versa.
3. Do you have any other devices - USB stick, Printers, etc - that you could plug into where the WD is normally connected. Do they still work? If they do, it would suggest that the ports are OK and the issue is with the WD.
If all this points to confirming the WD has failed I guess you need to get a replacement drive and start over with TIme Machine.
