problem install PSE11 with a MAC OS disc on MACBook Air   I've done the serial number, adobe ID, Option and now install "installation Progess" with a message Please close all of the following applications to continue:  Adobe Bridge CS4, Photoshop Elements (Adobe Photoshop elements)  I've checked to insure those are closed. Yes they are close - press "continue" but nothing happen.  HELP!

Look in Activity Monitor (Applications>Utilities) to see if there are any adobe processes still running somewhere in the background.
(Incidentally, just in case you're a new switcher--closing the window doesn't normally close the program on a mac, unlike windows. You must still quit the program itself.)

  • How can I install my CS5 onto my MacBook Air?

How can I install my CS5 onto my MacBook Air? I have my serial number, but I can't find anywhere to download the program on the Adobe site. The physical CDs are useless w/MacBook Air.
    Thanks!
    Emily

The physical disks are OK with MacBook Air if you buy a cheap external DVD drive and connect via USB. That's how I install DVD software on my MacBook Air.
That said, you can download the software from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
Follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links won't work.

  • Can't transfer cs5 from fried macbook air to my new Pro - i have serial numbers but no startup disk

my macbook air has software on it that I can't retrieve because it is dead -
i have a brand new mac book pro and serial numbers for both cs3 and the cs5 updagrade.
I called adobe to see if i can download the standard suite from their support but apparently they no longer offer access to anything prior to 5.5.
I dont have the installation disc's, how can I get this software downloaded and on my new computer without having to buy the whole suite again!

  • Need help installing CS5 on my Macbook Air i5 with Lion OS?

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am trying to install CS5 on my new i5 macbook air which runs lion. When I connect my external hard drive to install the disc the disc does not even show up on the desktop. I know the drive is fine because I tested it with another disk and the icon show up fine for installation. Not sure what is going on but, guessing it is a conflict with lion. Please help?
    thanks

I think you would have better luck with an external DVD player/recorder. Have you tried dragging the file from the external hard drive to your desktop and then installing?

  • Installing CS5.5 on MacBook Air

I purchased CS5.5 for my MacBook Pro a couple of years ago, and I'm thinking of buying a MacBook Air sometime soon. Is it possible to transfer CS5.5 from my old laptop to the new one (without a CD drive on the MacBook Air?)

You can't use migration or copy files from computer to computer with Adobe applications.
First, deactivate your copy of CS5.5 on your old computer (open an application and choose Help > Deactivate).
Then download a clean copy of CS5.5 and install on your MacBook Air.

If you are purchasing a new MBA it would be worth paying the extra $100 for 8 GB of RAM.  If you are purchasing a used MBA then 4 GB of RAM meets or surpasses the minimum memory requirements listed above but should you start composing or editing more complex objects/scenes you would notice a difference.

  • Photoshop CS5 Bugs on MacBook Air Fixed in Mountain Lion

    Hey all,
I was pretty frustrated last November when I bought a new Macbook Air and experienced weird behavior in Photoshop CS5. Brushes would stop working. Tool icons would freak out. This was discussed at length on the boards, and Chris from Adobe said everyone at Adobe and Apple were aware of the issue due to video card incompatibilities (?) and Lion.
Happy to report that all that behavior has dissapeared with Photoshop CS5 running on Mountain Lion (beta v1). It works as it was meant to. Yeah!
Thought I would report back as all those threads have been locked for awhile.

Thanks to the USB hub, Now Huawei E303C Datacard is working all fine in my new MacBook Pro 13" i7 Mid 2012 model.
For experiment purpose, I purchased one USB 2.0 hub (Unknown Chinese model).
I connected Datacard to USB hub and USB hub to MacBook Pro USB port.
Hurray!! Datacard is detected by MacBook Pro.
So, the problem is with MacBook Pro's new USB ports (USB 2.0 and 3.0 integrated in a single port) and Huawei E303C Datacard.
It is a hardware support issue with Huawei E303C Datacard.
I hope this will solve your problem too.
    Enjoy

  • Re-installing Photoshop CS5 on new Macbook Air    Says license key is invalid.

I am moving software from my MACBook Pro to a new MACBook Air and when I installed CS5 it told me that my license key is invalid.    Its a good license and I don't know why this message is coming up.
    Thoughts?

you need to double check the program/suite name that you purchased.
you can check your account if you purhased from adobe, https://www.adobe.com/account.html
otherwise, adobe support may be able to tell your product name given your serial number,

  • Transferring external drive backups on MacBook Air

Just received a warranty replacement 1TB My Passport external drive from Western Digital for one that was working erratically (won't backup/open from time to time).
I use the external drive for my mid-2011 MacBook Air (1.7 GHz, 13"0, to include running my entire iTunes library through the external drive.
I have both of the external drives visible on my MacBook Air.  My question: How do I transfer the info, or at least the latest backup, from the old drive to the new drive?

If you are speaking of a Time Machine backup, you don't.
Make a new backup on your new drive, from scratch.
The likelyhood that a transferred TM backup will not be usable, when you need it, under these circumstances is way too high of a risk.
My suspicion is that you are using Time Machine for archiving. You should not have, and you definitely should not continue the practice. Use Time Machine only for emergencies. You should use Finder for the purpose of archiving (moving files from disk to disk), to a dedicated drive for such.
You should never use Finder to manipulate Time Machine files. While it is conceivable that an app like Carbon Copy Cloner, may work to transfer these files, I would not trust it. Anytime you buy a new drive to use with Time Machine, start with a fresh backup.

  • Making a USB install disc for macbook air using a windows PC!

Ok i have an iMac and a macbook air, so this guide here seems good for me right?
How to Create a Mac Snow Leopard USB Installer Disk
The problem I've got is that my iMac superdrive is skewed, it just won't read anything (disc is new etc but the drive won't work with pretty much ANY disc at all, and i mean any, just spits them out after a few seconds of trying to read it).
Anyways, can this process as described in the URL above be done using a windows based pc? i also have one as a media centre in my room and it has a working dvd drive..... if so what do i need to do? this is driving me insane! i cannot afford an external superdrive or any other external drives at the moment nor is the iMac in warranty and nor do i have the ability to take it anywhere.

Its a long one to explain but the superdrive in the imac works when it wants, and fortuantly last time it worked with the OSX disc that came with the imac! amazing, i made the usb installer and then when booted with macbook air it stated it cannot be installed. I did a little digging and discovered that it was because the imac came with one of those grey OEM discs and are not able to transpose to another machine at all, this is officially from apple and what others have used, hence my need to then get a full snow leopord disc.
The disc however unlike the other OSX grey one will not read at all
also what i mean is can i use the drive from the windows machine to make the usb install disc not using windows itself....?

  • Transferring iPhoto from iMac to MacBook Air

For years I have had no problem keeping iPhoto synced between my iMac and my MacBook.  I have a new Air and for the first time ever I am having trouble.
I copied over the whole iPhoto package the  first day and all was well.  Then I made some changes on my iMac and used Chronosync to update the Air.  But when I did that, despite no synicing errors, it looked like it did before.  No new pictures.
I finally got feed up and completely deleted the iPhoto package on the air and copied the whole thing over from the iMac.  It looks just like it did after the sync, the last import photo on the Air is a couple of day old and it the last import folders do not match.
So I moved the iPhoto file on the Air to the shared folder and opened iPhoto as a different Admin user.  No help.
    I am stymied.

OK this is what it turned out to be.
On my iMac a few days ago I opened iPhoto and it said the program was corrupt, not the library.  So I deleted it and installed iLife 11.  Then I tried to open iPhoto but it said I needed to update.
A few of the updates for iPhoto must be installed one at a time rather than just using the most recent update.  So I stopped one short of getting it fully up to date.
But it let me open the library.  I then added a few photos.
But since my MacBook Air was on the latest update it was interpreting the library differntly.  Those new photos weren't showing up.
When I updated the iMac to the latest version those same pictures went missing on the iMac.  Very strange but at least one of the most vexing Mac problems I have ever had is solved.
Luckily I still have access to those "missing" photos.

  • I have a problem with transfering photos from iPad to MacBook Air, how do I go about doing that?

Photos from iPad to MacBook Air, I am currently trying to use my USB cord to transfer photos, but how?

You can only import photos in the camera roll, not synced photos. So I assume that you want to transfer the photos that you shot with the iPad camera. You can use iPhoto or Image Capture on the MBA.
Just connect the iPad to the Mac with the cable and launch either of those two apps. Your iPad should appear under the devices heading in the left sidebar of the app. Click on the iPad name just like you do when you sync with iTunes and the camera roll photos should appear in the window on the right.

  • Copying/transferring applications to a new MacBook Air?

I have Microsoft Office installed from a disk a friend gave me on my iMac. Today, I bought a MacBook Air for using at school ect, is there any way to copy Office over from my existing Mac? I don't have the disks or anything because they were kindly lent to me. Can I do this using the Migration Assistant? I need Office on both computers, and I'm not sure if MA would clear it from my iMac? Thanks in advance!

You could use Migration Assistant (or Setup Assistant) to transfer all your applications and/or files from your iMac to your MBA.
Microsoft Office is going to ask for your serial number/product ID though. So if you don't have that you'll need to get it from your friend.
