Transferring imported songs from ipod

My computer crashed, I had a mix of purchased songs and songs that I have imported on it. On my ipod I have 700 songs, only 117 have been purchased, the rest are from cds that I imported. I can transfer over the files that I purchased from my ipod back to my computer, but how do I get the rest of them back in my library???

Did you ever get the songs back on your computer ... can you tell how you went aout getting the sogs on your computer.

  • Computer crashed, how do i import songs from ipod to new computer?

I need to import songs from my ipod to my new computer. I know there are third party softwares to do this, but which software is free, and is COMPLETLY VIRUS FREE. please give me a specific name and where to download it. Thx

I can't recommend any of the free ones. They either wouldn't install, or had severe limits not present in the purchased version. My advice is to shell out the $20 bucks.

  • Need to Import songs from Ipod to Itunes

Hey, so yeah my comp fried itself the other day [hard disk corrupt files issues] and i managed to get it fixed, with a new copy of windows installed. problem is i didnt wipe the hard disk [because many files are ones id rather not lose] and so the other account which was on 'dont share my files' [windows is ******** that way] is completely unaccessable. This means i lose access to documents, settings, and everything on the desktop / user-related files. They're still on my computer, but completely unaccessable , and windows pretends they arent there, because im a 'different user' now. Itunes was part of that. along with my songs folder. So i reinstall itunes, and the ipod registers, though saying it is registered to another itunes library, and i can change it to this one [if i want to wipe all my songs for the nothing that the current library has in it].
So clearly what i need to do is import songs from the ipod to the itunes library that i have now. This option doesnt seem to exist, ive been looking for it for some time. Any ideas?

Welcome to discussions! See the instructions from MacMuse on the following link. Once you have recovered your music, I would strongly suggest you institute some type of regualr backup program for your music library.

  • Importing Songs from iPod after hard drive failed

My hard drive failed. Fortunately all of my songs were backed up on my iPod. Got a new computer and can't figure out how to get the songs from my iPod back to my computer. Some songs were purchased from iTunes, some from CDs. I tried the import function and all it does is bring the titles into my library but cannot find them when I try to play them on my computer. The songs are still on my iPod.

The transfer of music is designed to be one way by default - from iTunes to iPod, however there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection.

Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these and pick one you are happy with, they are generally quite straightforward.
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
You may already be using the iPod in manual update mode in which case you can ignore the rest of this post. In manual mode, your iPod is safe from being accidentally erased. However if you are getting a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, click *No*. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list. Change the update setting in Preferences>iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists" Managing Your Songs Manually
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys, on Windows, hold down Shift + Ctrl. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Transfering purchased songs from ipod

When I hit File<Transfer purchased FROM ipod
I get this: 100 total problems
could not be copied to ipod because they could not be found?
Thats not even what I asked!! I asked to transfer the purchased songs back from the ipod back to my itunes library because I lost 100 or more of them when I bought a new computer, and tried to pull saved library off EHD.
I have tried some free download copy programs, but I can't get them to work either.
    Thanks, Tracy
    Thanks for the help

Did you look on the external hard drive to see if the files are still there somewhere?
When you plug in the iPod, do you get a notice telling you the iPod is not synced to this library and then offering to allow you to transfer the purchases?

  • New computer, want to import songs from iPod

Can anyone help?? I recently got a new computer and I plan on giving my old one away but I need to get my music onto the new one!
I tried to "export song list" onto a flash drive but that just came up with a text file. I plugged the iPod into the new computer and it wouldn't do anything either.
    HELP!!!!!!

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

  • How to import songs from iPod to iTunes library

Is there anyway to take the songs off my iPod that I synced onto it from one computer and put them on another computer that I have also authorized? I have tried a couple different ways, and can't get it, so if there is a way to do this, I would be happy to find out. Thank you in advance.

Go back a couple pages in this forum to an article about moving songs to a new laptop and using your i-pod as a hard drive. It might solve your problem.

  • Importing songs from Ipod to Computer

I sthis at all possible with the Ipod? It should be, all I want is to transfer my music on my ipod to my Laptop. Can I do this? Thanks!

OK, since your have to hook the ipod to play songs, I take for granted its already on "Manual Update" so I'll skip that part and go str8 to the third party apps. Just goto in itunes, edit>preferences>Advanced tab>general sub tab and make sure "Copy files added to library to the iTUnes music folder" is UNCHECKED before going on
Theres many out there but the 2 I usually recommend to people is the Free yamipod which will copy songs to the iTunes and the PC, OR Podutils trailware that will copy songs, playlist, playcounts, ratings and everything to another PC making you feel like you was right at your PC at home.
    Yamipod http://www.yamipod.com
    Podutil http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php
Almost forgot, but if you use podutil, when its copying, it will throw up a pop up you have to hit OK on for it to continue copying, small price to pay for something doing all it does for free

  • New Computer, is there any way to import songs from an ipod to a computer?

My computer doesn't have the songs from my old computer so I was wondering if there was a way to import songs from an iPod to a computer, because if I update my iPod now, all of my songs will be lost.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.

  • Transfering songs from ipod to computer

When transferring songs onto my laptop from my Ipod, one song gets hung and stops the whole transfer. Does anyone know what to do?

You need to sign in to itunes, click the Store tab at the top and click "authorize this computer". now try transfering purchases.
Here is a easy guide about [how to transfer songs from iPod to computer|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_copy_music_from_iPod_toPC].

  • Is it possible to import songs from my iPod to my iTunes?

I have songs from my old computer - before marriage. now that i'm married, i want to put some songs which i got from my home computer onto the new computer. how do i do that? i tried to search the topic but it will only give me solutions for songs from itunes to ipod, not the other way around. thanks!

    SeaPea,
Type this into the search box: transfer songs from iPod to iTunes and click on the link that says "Using your iPod as a hard disk". Scroll to the bottom of that article and you'll see a title that says "Copying music from your iPod to your computer". That's what you need.

  • I purchased an iphone 5. I'm having difficulty transferring the songs from the ipod to the iphone. Can someone please help?Aslo, I'm running off of a PC

    Hello,
I recently purchased the iphone 5. I'm having a hard time transferring my songs from old to new. I'm working of a PC with windows 7 if that help. Any help would be greatly appreciate
    Thanks

iPhone warranty is not international, but is valid only in
the country of original purchase. Since you bought the iPhone
in the UK, your warranty is valid anywhere in the EU but not
in Egypt. You can gry taking it to an Apple authorized reseller,
but don't be surprised if they tell you they cannot do anything.

If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
