Transferring info from my N97mini to my N9

I've recently purchased an N9, which uses a micro-sim. My old phone is the N97mini, which does not. I figure the easiest way to transfer all the info, contacts, messages, calendar notes & etc is to transfer it all to my PC then onto the N9...can anyone tell me (totally non-IT-intelligent) how I can do this with the N97??  (By the way, just FYI...LOVE the N9...its a thing of beauty, ease and efficiency!)

  • Transferring info from old Mac?

How do I get to the Setup Assistant?  I declined transferring info from my old Mac when I first set up my new MacBookAir because I didn't have access to my previous computer at the time.  Now I need to do it and can't find the Setup Assistant screen that asks if I already own a Mac.   Help!

Use the Migration Assistant in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder. Note that it will create a new Mac OS X user account.

You'll need to erase the drive by booting up holding command-option-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
Use Disk Utility to erase the disk and then Internet Recovery. That will take a while.

  • Can not sync new songs, when I transferred info from computers took identity of old computer and now I have 2 identities on 1 computer

I can not sync new songs on new computer.  When I transferred info from the old computer to the new one it also took the identity from the old computer
so it says I can not do anything because I currently have 2 identities.

If you have successfully transferred your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then go ahead and restore the Nano to factory settings in iTunes on your new PC.  This process will deassociate the iPod with the computer and allow it to start syncing with the new one.

  • Transfering info from another computer at startup.

I have a problem. At the initial startup Tiger asked me whether I wanted to transfer information from an older Mac to my new Mac. I opted for no, and went ahead and created a new administrator. Now I realize I should have transfered my info from the older machine after all. Is it possible to go back, to that start up page and transfer all my info and settings from my old machine. I realize this means deleting the administrator I just created but I'm not even sure how to do that. Can someone please help. Thanks,
    Dana

You can run Migration Assistant. Utilities>Migration Assistant. However, if you are going from a PPC to an Intel you are going to migrate files that are not compatible with your new Mac. Therefore, follow the instructions in the link in my first post and you will be better off.

  • Transferring info from old address book to new Mac

    my subtopic ought to be 'writing a subject heading that relates to the question I want to ask'. That question was;
    Can anyone help me?
My last iMac died and I've got a new one. I've also got the hard drive from the old iMac, but when I try to open things from it, such as the address book, the new version opens and I can't find a way to get at the info that is in my old address book. I want to e-mail friends to tell them that I'm back on-line, but I can't get at their addresses. Advice received with thanks.

The Address Book data is stored at the following location - Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
With the Address Book application quit on your new iMac, transfer the AddressBook folder from the old hard drive and place it in the same location on your new hard drive at Home > Library > Application Support.
This will replace the existing AddressBook folder in this location.
Launch Address Book and all contacts from the old drive should be completely restored.

  • Error in transferring info from PC

Just purchased my first MacBook Pro.  Attempted to transfer data from PC but transfer failed.  Message appeared on PC stating that PC lost conection to Mac.  I cannot get past the "Transferring Your Information" screen on my iniitial setup of Mac.  Help!

Why not continue using what you're comfortable with. Install Parallels Desktop and install Windows XP in Parallels. Next install MS Money in XP and transfer all of your files (the whole nine yards...I mean years).
So now you can use Money on XP in Parallels on your Mac.
All seriousness aside, it really is quite easy to do and you might even think of some more windoze-only programs that you want to use along with Money. The cost is $80 for Parallels and whatever a full version of XP SP2 costs.

  • Transferring info from  Palm Tungsten PDA to I-Touch?

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer information from my very old Palm Tungsten PDA to the I-Touch? I am trying to save myself hours of needless work transferring everything by hand (yikes!). I would be grateful for any feedback or solutions.

You need to transfer to your outlook or other address book on your computer that you plan to sync your ipod touch with then sync from there.
Search the palm site or Google for instructions on how to do this.

  • Transferring info from a MacBook pro to an imac

I currently have a MacBook pro and am considering getting a new iMac, I was wondering if there was any way to transfer all of my info on my MacBook pro to the iMac through Bluetooth or through my wireless network in my home some way. I was just wondering what the easiest way to transfer all of my info including iTunes to the new computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet is to use +Setup Assistant+ when your shiny new Mac first starts up. See [Setting up a new Mac from an old one or its backups|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Setup.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Snow Leopard > Installation and Setup+ forum).
You can do that directly from the old Mac, via FireWire or Ethernet (in theory you can do it via WIFI, but it will take forever).
Or you can transfer from the old Mac's backups, if they're full Time Machine backups or a "bootable clone," on either a USB or FireWire drive.

  • Transferring info from a Mac with multiple accounts to a Mac with one

    Hello -
I have to install a new Tiger installation on my wife's iBook. I want to make my life easier, and her entire iBook has been backed up to her account on our shared PowerMac G5. The question I have is this - After I install Tiger on her iBook, I will be given the option to transfer information from another Mac. I want to transfer her information from her G5 partition, but I do I do that? If I start the G5 up in Firewire Target Disk Mode, how can I select only her account to use for the transfer? I haven't tried this yet, and maybe the solution will be obvious. But if not, can someone advise me how to do this?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

    I figured it out.

  • Transferring Info From 1 Mac to Another

The MacBook I have now I bought from a friend that has everything on it; Bootcamp, Adobe, etc., but they no longer have the discs for the programs and I want to buy the new white MacBook that just came out.
My question is, is there a way to transfer all my stuff from this MacBook to the new one when I buy it? Do I have to swap hard drives? What should I do, if it is possible?
    Thank you

    Hi Ahdawnis,
You can use Migration Assistant to move everything over from the Mac OS X side (documents, profiles, settings, applications). That won't work for the PC side (Boot Camp partition), so you'll need to run that again or find a way to backup/clone the PC side for quick restoration.
Here's a good link to get you started - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3322

  • Transferring info from older iMac to new one.

Is there a way to transfer my files from my older iMac to My new one? I mean, can I use the firewire port or something easy like that to transfer my files? Or will I have to start form scratch. BTW did I mention my cd/dvd drive on my older mac is dead? There will be no backing up files.
    Please help!

Just be careful with Migration Assistant. If you select Applications, it will move everything over that isn't newer or already on the new Mac. You can't pick and choose. This means it will move any ancient or incompatible apps, including all their associated files, which may end up being spread out all over the new computer.
In addition, if you are moving things out from a PPC to an Intel, read this.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1872713
Sometimes it's safer to just move files and folders over.
