Transferring information to new ipad

Ive just received a replacement ipad for my daughter as the old one got water damage. Apple kept the old one. Is there anyway to transfer information from the old ipad or is it gone forever? Ive loaded all the apps again.

It sounds like you have been using iCloud. Did you have "sync books" selected?

  • Transferring to a new ipad

i have a lot of saved documents on my existing ipad and I want to buy a new one. Will all the documents I have saved on this ipad be transferred to the new ipad when I restore my last backup?
    thank you

I don't use automatic backup or sync but keep all my pdf files in a folder on my computer.  iTunes then allows me to transfer all of them from the computer to the ipad, or the other way round.
I think you click on Apps - Adobe reader, and at the bottom, there is an Add button.  Then you navigate to your folder on the computer and select all the pdf files.
The old version crashes whenever it has transferred 40-50 files, but the new version does not and can transfer all my >1000 pdf files in one go in a few minutes.  If you already have some files on the ipad, it asks you to choose to either skip or overwrite files with the same names.
You can also drag the files from the ipad to the folder on the computer, I think.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transferring apps to new iPad?

Does anyone know if you can transfer your apps to the new iPad 2 from your iPad 1? They are downloaded on my computer so I don't see why not, but making sure before I buy the new iPad.

Make sure you have a current backup of your 1st gen iPad in iTunes. When you get your new iPad, do a Restore to the new iPad and most info installs to the new iPad. You may have to sync a few apps. Mine was pretty seamless in the process and my contacts copied over just fine (I didn't have any notes, so I can't speak to that).
The only thing - if I recall correctly - that does not transfer over is your passwords; you will have to enter them again - which makes sense for security reasons.

  • Apps not transferring information to new iPod

Okay so I got a new iPod touch it's not the one with FaceTime but the one before that. I synced it with my computer and everything and then went to go play an app and it was starting at level one as if I had just bought the app when on my old iPod touch I was on level 13. How do I get my saved scores and stuff on my new iPod????

From page 208 of the iPad Touch (4.1) Users Guide:
    Restoring from a Backup
You can restore the settings, app data, and other information from a backup, or
use this feature to transfer these items to another iPod touch. Make sure you have
an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from
    www.apple.com/itunes.
Important: Restoring from a backup is not the same as restoring iPod touch from the
Summary pane in iTunes. See “Restoring iPod touch” on page 207. Restoring from a
backup does not fully restore iPod touch software. Also, restoring iPod touch from a
backup restores all data in the backup, including data for apps. If you choose an old
backup, restoring from it could replace the app data with data that is not current.
If you restore iPod touch from a backup of some other iPhone or iPod touch, some
passwords and settings may not be restored. (Additional, but still not all, passwords
and settings may be restored if the backup is encrypted.) For more information about
the settings and information stored in a backup, go to support.apple.com/kb/HT1766.
Restore iPod touch from a backup:
1 Connect iPod touch to the computer you normally sync with.
2 In iTunes, Control-click iPod touch in the Devices list and choose “Restore from Backup”
    from the menu that appears.
3 Choose the backup that you want to restore from the pop-up menu, then click Restore.
If your backup is encrypted, enter your password.

  • HT201269 Transferring information to new iPhone question

I have accidentally opted to set up my new iPhone "as new iPhone" instead of restoring it from iCloud backup. How can I rectify this?

On your phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. When done, you can now start over.

  • How can I restore an app and its data from an old ipad to a new ipad without restoring from backup?

When I purachsed and iPad 2 to replace my old iPad I did not want to restore it from backup for obvious reasons.  However, there are apps that have data stored in them that I have lost the data for, what can I do to get the app and data back on the new iPad without losing the data that was already in the app?

The reasons may be obvious to you, but it makes no sense to me. I would think that you would want all of the content that you had transfered onto your new iPad.
However, there are apps that have data stored in them that I have lost the data for, what can I do to get the app and data back on the new iPad without losing the data that was already in the app?
If you lost the data in the apps, you can't get it back unless you restore from a backup - assuming that the backup DID have that data in the apps..
The only way that you can get the apps PLUS the app data onto the new iPad is to restore the new iPad from a backup of the original iPad and sync the apps back onto the new iPad if necessary.

  • Just bought a new iPad, and my highlights and bookmarks will not sync to it through iBooks.

Hey, I just bought the third-generation iPad. I have been reading on the iPad 2 for a year now, and have hundreds of books in my library. Because I'm such an intense reader, and value my highlights, it upset me when I bought the new iPad, synced it to iTunes, and then highlights and bookmarks were not transferred to the new iPad. The books were all out of order when they synced, and I had to rearrange them, but they were in the correct collections. This was my first hint that something was wrong. Next, when I opened my books, I could not find a single highlight in any of them. I checked all the books on my iPad 2 and they're fine as usual, everything is how I left it, including my bookmarks and highlights, and I even went into settings and made sure sync bookmarks was on on both iPads. I am completely confused and frustrated. I even put my new iPad into DFU mode and tried to re-sync everything, nothing is working. They just won't sync. Could someone please help me out, this means a lot to me. Also: is anyone noticing that the multitouch is slightly off with the new iPad? I'll go to tap dictation or drag an icon to another page, and it's just not that responsive. a few times I have clicked the dictation button but I gotten a space in instead. It seems you just have to press harder almost. Lastly, my 30 pin seems to be a little tight. I put a standard 30 pin sync cord that came with my original iPad 2 and iPhone 4 into the 30 pin and I almost had to jam it into the 30 pin slot. I work with iDevices all day long and have never had one that needed to be jammed in before. It doesn't seem good for the iPad. Yes, I am borderline about to return it, but the screen just looks so much clearer, I can't go back to my iPad 2. Wow, again I pressed the dictation button and the spacebar activated instead. If anyone can figure out this whole iBook situation so I can get my bookmarks and my highlights back, I would really appreciate it!

I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.

  • New ipad air 2.  Itunes on Mac (snow leopard). New ipad will only synch music from restored from my old ipad 2.  Won't synch all other music from itunes.

Just purchased new ipad air 2. When I performed system restore from the backup from my old ipad 2, the music that was on my old ipad transferred to my new ipad.  But I can't synch the rest of the music I have in my itunes on my mac (snow leopard. itunes 11.4). Suggestions?

Hi were you able to resolve yours?
I was very worried losing all my medical stuff on my iPad Air 2, plus i have nothing to use for the next day! So i have to try all the possible things i read on the internet!! And this worked on my part (Thank God, and thank you Google)
    Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

  • My new ipad is showing the message 'Use wi fi to restore - A wi fi connection is required to download your apps and media' then gives 2 buttons

I had my ipad replaced last week. The apps etc were transferred to the new ipad and it worked fine for a couple of days. This morning the screen locked up and displayed the message - Use WiFi to Restore- A wi fi connection is required to download your apps and media. Then gives a choice of two buttons - Later or Use Wifi. Absolutely nothing happens when you press these buttons, the whole screen has locked up and it can't even be turned off. If you hold the off button down then eventually the slide to power off button appears but nothing happens when you swipe it. Help!

Hold down the home button and power button at the same time, ignore the power off slider until the Apple logo appears.

  • HT1665 I have new iPad gen4 and have mobile in line6 plug in with old connector . Will the lightning adaptor work?

Does the lightning adaptor work, as I need to go from larger pin configuration to new smaller connector on the iPad 4th gen with retina display....why did apple change the connector in the first place. anyway apple says the connector may not work....does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks for your reply.  I think I  created a new apple id on my new ipad.   Bear with me as I am a "silver surfer" as they say.
I did what you advised go to settings>store>apple id.  Signed out and created my new apple id with the new password that was created on my new ipad
Now my apple id is my new sky email address and I can log in with these.
But still when I try to update apps it still states my apple id as my old email address
I dont mind if i lose everything as there is not that much to lose.   I just wanted to keep the old ipad for my grandchildren as they use a lot of the game apps but obviously not much good if I cannot download any new apps
Also to confuse matters and to find out if it solved anything  I clicked  settings apple id  i forgot and typed in my email address they stated that an email would be sent  but nothing arrives which makes me think they are sending to my old e mail address.
Also when I want to download an app on my new ipad it does not prompt me to put in a password.
From what you say should all of my apps on my old ipad have been automatically been transferred to my new ipad - but perhaps not if the email addresses were different on each one.
I have i haven't confused you - should i just reset - i think it would make it easier for me anyway.
    Thanks again

  • How do I transfer contacts notes and photos from iPhone to new ipad

How do I transfer content from iPhone to iPad

    Hi Sacha' !
Thank you for your answer to my ipad question.
I was able to transfer my contacts, notes, calendar . . . etc., once I connected to Yahoo.
The info you gave me would be good, except that I don't use iCloud as it filled up the free 5GB on my iPhone
and then kept asking me to "buy more storage".
One day I may try to utilize the cloud, but now that I seem to have all my info from my iPhone transferred to my new iPad
    I think I am good.
    Thanks again !
