Transferring Iphone photos to Iphoto on laptop - small!

If I take a photo on my Iphone 4 - or if someone sends me a photo they took on their IPhone - and then I transfer it to my IPhoto on my MacBook Pro, it's very small - I can't enlarge it at all. Advice??

Not sure why they would be small.  However, any photo can be resized with a decent graphics program.  Try this one: http://www.lemkesoft.com/

  • Transferring RAW photos to Iphoto

I know this has been asked a lot before, but there's an ocean of variations of answers out there.  I can't make any sense out of it so I'm hoping somebody can give me a fundamental answer without overwhelming me with hi-tech stuff.
I have a Canon EOS Rebel T2i.  It comes with their software for downloading and importing the photos but it won't send them to Iphoto.  I tried to download the photos using Iphoto.  I noticed they preview them first.  However, these photos are very large files (RAW in camera).  I tested one photo in a transfer to Iphoto and it is a .jpeg but it is 5.5MB too. That seems too large to store in Iphoto, and if I download all 250 photos I will surely fiill my HD space on my computer.
Isn't there a simple way to download these pictures as smaller files to Iphoto?  Or do I have to download a few at a time and resize them one by one?  If that is the case, then some "hi-tech" thinker out there is not so bright.   I just want to download my family photos to Iphoto and share them but 5.5mb is too big to send out.

When iPhoto imports a RAW file it creates a JPEG preview file for iPhoto to use to display in thumbnails, slideshows, etc.  RAW files are just sensor dumps from the camera's image sensor and need to be processed before they can be viewed.  That's what the preview files are for. When you edit a RAW file the edit must be saved as a new, jpeg or tiff file leaving the RAW file untouched.
To reduce the file size for sharing export the files out of iPhoto via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.  Select Kind = JPEG.  The file size is determined by the Quality setting (i.e. JPEG compression).  Large is usually only a big smaller than the original file.  Medium is about 40% smaller.  I'm referring to the file size here and not the image size.  The image size will remain the same size in pixels as the original.
If you want to reduce the pixel dimension of the exported photos set the Size option to the maximum dimension (width or length) you want.

  • Help-how do you move iphone photos into iphoto on iMac??

I have 4,814 photos in my iphoto library (categorized into 114 events). On my iphone 4, I have 1,028 photos taken exclusively with the phone. Can someone tell me how to get all of my iphone photos into my iphoto library on my iMac?
    Thanks----

Never mind..figured it out. Just in case anyone else is dense like me, just plug iphone into iMac, then launch iphoto. In iphoto, the iphone will be listed on the left as a device and all your iphone photos will show up to the right. Simply click import at the bottom of the screen and you're on your way.

  • Why can't I export iPhone photos from iPhoto?

iPhoto recently started crashing whenever I try to export photos that have been imported from my iPhone.
No problems exporting photos from other cameras, just the iPhone.
In fact, If I mix photos from several cameras in one Event and try to export them all, the export goes smoothly until it hits the iPhone photo at which point iPhoto crashes.
Any clue why and/or how to fix this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    FYI.  I'm using iPhoto '09 8.1.2 and OSX 10.9.3.

the export goes smoothly until it hits the iPhone photo at which point iPhoto crashes.
Is it just one particuar photo?  Have your photos been edited on the iPhone with iOS 7 effects? HDR photos, panoramic photos?
and then I export the edited photos to the hard drive on my iMac so I can burn them to a CD.
Does iPhoto only crash, when you export the photos with "File > Export > Edited" or also, when you export them with "File > Export > Original"?
If you can export the originals, check, if the photos areo.k. and you can open them in Preview.
      I'm using iPhoto '09 8.1.2 and OSX 10.9.3.
That is a risky combination. iPhoto 8.1.2 is not fully supported on Mavericks, and probably your current problem is due to the fact, that iPhoto 8.1.2 does not work well withMavericks.  Is there a reason, that you do not want to update to iPhoto 9.5.1 for full compatibility?

  • Cannot find imported iPhone photos in iPhoto?

Where do they go?  They are not in last import?  They are listed as "already imported"... I've tried importing to an album but none of them show up?  I've tried straight import but none of them show up?  Where are they?
I'm looking to do a mass dump of iPhone photos to clear space but this hurdle has gotten in the way.

Seriously?  Does no one else have this problem?
I've been on Mac for 15 years, used iPhone from the beginning and I've never had an issue wtih this until now.  uggh!!
Please help me find where my photos go, so I can dump my iPhone!

  • Transfering iphone photos to my laptop

simple basic issue here. I have taken photos on my iphone, all stored in "camera roll" - now how do I transfer them to my laptop? Do I have to email them to myself? Or is there a simpler/faster way to sync?

If you have Windows, plugging in your iPhone makes another drive in Windows File Explorer (Windows-Key+E).
Just go there and look for a drive called Apple iPhone.
Optionally you can navigate to it from any picture viewer application, including Windows Image Viewer, because Windows simply treats the iPhone like a drive/folder.

  • Trouble transferring iPhone videos to iPhoto & iMovie

I use a iPhone 3Gs and wanted to load all of our photos and videos onto our computer. I haven't had any trouble in the past.
I hook my phone to the computer and I first get a message saying no camera found. Iphoto still recognizes my phone and asks me if I want to transfer the photos/videos over. I click yes and I tell it to not transfer duplicates.
The files transfer without a problem, but at the end, I get a message that about 875 videos are unreadable and cannot be transferred. A decent amount of the beginning of videos transfer, but the majority do not.
Then, when I try to transfer the videos over to iMovie, they won't show up?
I don't know what is going on, but I am very frustrated!
    Thank you.

I can certainly try - but why isn't it recognizing my phone? I guess I should also say that I just upgraded yesterday to the new 4g - but, I was have the same exact issues with my 3Gs as well...so it isn't phone specific.

  • Can no longer see iPhone photos in iPhoto

After upgrading my iPhone to 3.1.2 iPhoto no longer autolaunches when the iPhone is connected to my Mac Book Pro (10.6). When I launch iPhoto ('08, 7.1.5) myself the phone's camera shows up on the left-hand side but when I select it I see no photos to import. If I uncheck the "Hide photos already imported" checkbox I see dashed lines indicating that there are photos that have already been imported, but the photos do not appear within the dashed border.
I have try restarting the phone as well as resetting the phone by holding down the power and home keys.
    Any ideas?

My MacBookPro is totally up to date: runs OS X Snow Leopard and the update 10.6.2. The iPhoto is version 8.1.1, iTunes version is 9.0.2. and iPhone has software version 3.1.2.
Up to a few days ago all worked perfectly but since yesterday iPhoto doesn't see my iPhone.
I've reinstalled Snow Leopard and checked for software updates for all ... no solution!
I've seen NUMEROUS guys with the exact same problem but I saw NO answer to solve the problem (except for deleting photos from emails etc which is bollocks!).
Can Apple not help by fixing the glitch in their software, which it obviously is.

  • I lost my iPhoto library on external disk so how do I recover iPhone photos to iPhoto on MacBook?

I moved all of my photos to an external disk.  No other backup.  Big mistake. Now, how do I transfer photos on my iPhone (albums, events, faces) to my MacBook iPhoto library, which is now empty?

It sounds like you were running a  "referenced"  library? Were you?
If you didi and you moved the photos to the EHD you would get a "Can't find XXXXX" message when you try to view a photos.  Is that what you get?
Are those photos still on the EHD?  You'll  have to explain in more detail exactly what you did and how you did it before we can give you any suggestions on how to get back in business.

  • Why are some of my photos in iphoto coming out small

This happens in my iphoto library, when viewing, many of my pictures are only showing small version. I can't figure out why. On my Macbook, this was not the case. I am not a techie so when answering please try to use lay language. Anyhelp please?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what are the pixel dimensions of the photos in question?
did you import one library into another at any time?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Cant find iPhone photos in iPhoto

I'm not able to find the photos that are on my iPhone in iPhoto. When the device is connected to the Mac, I can see the photos on the phone only. Please can you advise?

Photos in the camera roll are "imported" to the computer from the iPhone, they are not really synced. On the Mac, you would use iPhoto to transfer the pictures to the computer.
Pictures that you have on the computer would be the ones that you would sync to the iPhone using iTunes. Photos are placed in a folder on the computer, that folder is selected in iTunes and then you do a sync. When that is done, the pictures are copied to the iPhone. Then, any changes that you make to the folder on the computer will be changed on the iPhone during the next sync process.
Anything that is significantly different for a Mac can be explained by Allan, since he is a Mac, I'm a PC

  • Cannot import or view iPhone photos in iPhoto.

I am trying to import photos from my iPhone into iPhoto. My phone shows up as a device in iPhoto, but none of the image previews load and the import buttons are greyed out. With Image Capture I have the same problem, the device is recognized but nothing else loads. I have updated all software with no effect. Importing photos previously worked without any problems.
Let me know what I can try to get this to work. My software versions are below:
    Macbook Air (Mid-2011) OS X 10.7.5
    iPhoto '11 9.1.4(613)
    iPhone 4 iOS 7.1.2

These were photos taken with the default camera app. They have not been modified at all and are located in the camera roll on the iPhone.
My software was actually not up to date for iPhoto. I tried updating it through the App Store but it would not proceed due to 10.7 as my current OS. I downloaded v9.2.3 off of support.apple.com but it would also not let me proceed with the update when I ran the .pkg. It stated that iPhoto needed to be updated through the App Store.
Any ideas how to upgrade to a version that is not the most current but is supported on 10.7?

  • How to Import Photos from iPhoto in a smaller size

I'd like to import some of my Photo folders to my iPhone but would like to import them in a size such as the iPhone screen or perhaps twice as big.
There is no need for the full size photo.
Similiar to when importing songs, there is an option to convert songs to 128 bits

I know that you can select a photo or several and select export that then saves it to a folder.
As for drag + drop into Quark ??????
I can copy+paste / drag+drop to Mail maybe you can try to ctrl click / right click copy and paste to Quark.
It could be a setting in Quark or they just need to upgrade it to work with Iphoto 6 ????
    Hope this helps.
