Transferring iPod to new computer

Our house currently has two laptops. My iPod was synced with one of them. That computer's hard drive was wiped. As in, nothing's left on it. iTunes is completly wiped... The works. I want to sync it with this computer, problem is, I don't know how to do that without losing every single song. It took me forever to get these songs together, and I would really appreciate it if someone knew how to transfer the songs.

Transferring iPod To New Computer With Windows 8

I'm trying to transfer my iPod to my new laptop (Windows 8) for college. The version of Windows I used on my home computer is Windows 7. I tried simply syncing my iPod into iTunes on my new computer (twice). All it did was charge. When I ejected it, all my music was still on there (I heard later on it would get deleted by doing this). Is there any way to easily make this transfer with playlists and plays remaining in tact (the latter not being as important though)? I want to keep my iPod/iTunes in the condition it was before. The internet has been no help to me. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the question. The best solution for achieving this would be to transfer the iTunes Library from your previous computer (the one you currently sync your iPod with) to your new computer:

Transfering ipod to new computer's itunes

After my last computer was stolen I bought a new computer but when I tried to put my ipod in my new computer I was told it can only be synced to one itunes library at once and if I try to sync it to my new itunes, I'll lose all of the information on my ipod that I have now. While I understand the reasoning, there must be exceptions to the rule for cases like mine. Is there anyway around this?

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

Help! Need help with transferring Ipod to new computer

After it took me forever just to figure out how to ask a question...eerr!
My old computer crashed and I need to move all my files, purchased, photos, and music that were imported. I know with the new Itunes you can transfer the purchased items, but will that erase everything else on my Ipod...ie: my photos and imported files?
I have downloaded a Ipod copier..but not really sure how to do this all. Any help from anyone would be so greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, unless you have a backup and can restore the iTunes library to the new computer, you are stuck with the current state of the iPod. This is one of those things that makes doing backups so important.
Unless your music is all purchased from iTunes (not from your own CD's that you imported into iTunes and then downloaded to the iPod), you will be able to re-download all your iTunes store music back to the iPod when you install iTunes on the new computer. When you first attach the iPod to the new computer and new iTunes the first time it will tell you that this iPod is synced with another iTunes library and let you initialize the iPod (which will erase everything on the iPod - so don't do this unless you don't care about the stuff on the iPod now).
I've seen 3rd party apps in the past that will let you copy music/content from iPod to computer and bypass iTunes, but not sure if they still exist as this was several years ago.

just recently got new computer, I have a 30g ipod,I'm trying to transfer songs from Ipod to new computer without erasing anything. Have about 1900 songs, half is from Itunes and the other half is from CD'S. Very fearful of erasing everything, someone help me out me.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

I lost the hard drive in old computer. Having trouble transfering files directly from ipod to new computer. Ipod is configured for windows. Old computer was windows XP, new computer is Windows Vista. Save all the photos from your Droid into a folder on your computer.
Connect your device to your computer. On iTunes left Pane, select iPhone under 'Devices'; then on the right Pane, select PHOTO tab. Make sure Sync Photo box is checked, and "from" box selected the folder that has Droid's photos. Then click the SYNC or APPLY button on the lower right window.

Hello. My old hard drive crashed and I bought a new computer. Unfortunately I did not back up any files from my old computer and lost all files including iTunes music. All I have is the music from my iPod. I would like some help or if anyone knows anything about how to transfer the music from my iPod to my new computer. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

The password is for your iTunes account. Not for your old iPod. Enter your Email and password will give you access to all the music you bought from iTunes. If you forget it then I dont know how to help you there guess your SOL.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

Transferring CS3 to new computer and upgrading to CS6

I am wanting to transfer my Adobe CS3 suite to my new Macbook Pro. I'm worried about not being able to access my design files correctly once transferring to my new computer. I'm also interested in upgrading to the latest CS6. Any advice would be appreciated!

To install your CS3 Suite, don't try to copy the application files. If possible, use the installer discs or a copy of the installer file you original used to install on your old computer. If you don't have the original discs/installer file, you can download the installer here:

Deactivate CS3 on your old computer.
As to buying the latest CS6, you can do that from the Adobe Store.
