There is something incompatible would be my guess. Did you disconnect all your peripherals in safe mode just to check?
You might now create a new temporary user account. Log into the new account. Do the panics still occur?
I would also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. Sometimes they can be difficult to track down. Looking at each new panic log would help determine if it's cause is associated with the same extensions.

  • Transferring iTunes for Mac to iTunes for Windows

My son currently uses iTunes for Mac to store all his music he for his iPhone. His iTunes is on a PowerBook G4, running OS X 10.4.11, which he now finds can not be upgraded to Leopard or Snow Leopard which would give him the latest version of iTunes. He is now thinking of purchasing a PC laptop that will run the latest version of iTunes. BUT, all of his music is on his Mac PowerBook. Is there way to transfer his music on iTunes for Mac to iTunes for Windows?

    Chris,
Thank you for responding. I only went by what my son said. I will check out Leopard's system requirements. Do you know if music stored on iTunes for Mac can be transferred to iTunes for Windows. If so,what I do to transfer the music?

  • Recommended software for file transferring offline between Mac 10.5.8 and iPhone 5?

I have an iPhone 5 and a Mac OS X 10.5.8 therefore I am unable to sync my iPhone with iTunes on my laptop.
I am looking for software which will allow me to transfer files to and fro between my iPhone and Mac without access to the internet.
I realise that I can import photos from my iPhone to my Mac computer through iPhoto but I would like to do the opposite of putting photos from my Mac onto my iPhone. I have found answers of using such software such as Dropbox but it seems that I would need to connect my Mac to the internet, which I am unable to do. I would also like to import music from my Mac onto my iPhone if possible.
Are there any software or programs that allows me to do this offline by simply plugging my iPhone to my Mac via the USB port? I would be willing to purchase a program at a decent price so long as it is cheaper than having to buy a new Mac computer!
I would be thankful for any advice.
    Cheers.

What about updating your Mac to OS X 10.6.8? That's only US $20 from Apple.

  • Transfering data between mac's

    Hi,
    I have an iMac & a macbook.
How do I transfer a lot of data between the 2?
I take it I buy a firewire to firewire cable.
How do I then go about transfering data.
    Many Thanks,
    Jeff

How do I then go about transfering data.
Connect them and start up one Mac with the T key held down. You can also use file sharing over a FireWire, Ethernet, or wireless connection.

  • Sync iTunes between Macs

    Hi,
how can I sync my music library betwenn my MacBook and MacMini? I'ts easy to sync my iPhone and iPad but I can't find out how it works from one Mac to another.
    Thanks!
    P.

it is correct that people suggest Home Sharing or iCloud, both have their pros and cons.
the reality is that iTunes cannot "sync" among computers / devices the way we natually perceive.
it is to do with Apple's control of copyright purchases, and i think Apple is still working out its Cloud strategy or feature (and in my opinion, it will never match the level of services Google can offer).
with HomeSharing, you can see the shared contents on another device, but there is no syncing and you have to copy manually. also, both devices have to be on the same WiFi network. i won't be able to see shared contents if I am using public WiFi in Starbucks with my MacBook while my iMac is at home on WiFi. but there seems to be a problem to access shared contents on iMac or MB (I am using Lion OSX on both), with devices using IOS6.
with iCloud, the catch is "Purchased" via iTunes Store for music and movies. if I got some music from internet or friend and add to iTunes on iMac, it won't sync to my iTunes on MB.  it will only sync if I purchased music from iTunes ... or you pay to use iTunes Matches services which try to recognize your music library (i think the same applies and Apple will have a way to make sure it is a legal copy) and then push to download to your devices. of course, this does not apply to Pictures, but then you have to pay to use iCloud if you need storage beyond 5GB.
so it is a choice between sync (multiple copies but you can access offline because they are physically stored on your device) and share (one copy but you need internet connection (to the same network for HomeSharing).
I am sure all these are careful calculation and conscious design from Apple ...
and that's the tradeoff you have when you are tied to Apple ecosystem ...
i can see thw way some of these things work are already out of touch.
that is probably because Apple is mainly selling products (hardware and software), instead of services.
e.g. i don't need multiple copy of the same content, just because i have several devices.
ideally, we want one copy, and then able to access any type of content, anywhere, anytime, with any devices.
that's the way to go in my opinion, whether Apple is doing it or not.

  • Transferring iTunes from Mac to PC with library already on a network drive

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and need to transfer all of my iTunes content from my Windows laptop. This is for use with my retina ipad mini.
I already had my iTunes library located in a folder on a NAS drive. Note I don't have any iTunes server or home sharing set up - I simply located the library on the NAS drive. Anyway I have pointed the Mac iTunes to the folder and can sync fine with my mini. However none of my books or music (other than a couple of items I purchase from apple) has appeared in the library on the Mac iTunes.
The content is however all still there on my iPad mini.
The guides I've found on here don't seem to apply to my situation. I am not moving the physical library at all - I just want the Mac iTunes to start using the library that's already there on my NAS.
Any ideas how I can get this to work?
Also how do i get my books content into iBooks, either from my mini or from the library?

Hold down the option/alt key while starting iTunes and guide it to the library.itl file in the iTunes folder on the NAS.

  • Transferring iTunes between devices

I reloaded iTunes from the Apple.com site and have the next to newest software on my iPhone.
I finally am able to 'see' iTunes on my laptop but when I try to download the tunes from my iPhone, they are not highlighted.

    Hello there, clarencetoo.
It sounds like you're trying to get your content transferred from your iPhone to your iTunes Library on your computer. The following Knowledge Base article offers up how to do just that:
Re-download or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer - Apple Support
Transfer your purchases to your computer
Before you transfer your purchases, make sure that your computer is authorized with the same Apple IDaccount you used to make the purchases. Learn how to authorize your computer using iTunes.
If you bought the iTunes Store content on your device using multiple Apple ID accounts, you'll need to authorize the computer for each one.
To transfer purchases from your device to a computer:

  • Transferring Data Between Mac & PC

Hi! I've been a PC user all this while and I just got my very first Mac.
I'm wondering if there is a way to share data between my employer's PC and my personal Mac using my external backup drive. The HDD I currently have is formatted in NTFS and it does not allow me to transfer data from my Mac.
I do a lot of work at home and while I'm overseas and I need to read/ write from both computers very regularly.
    Please help.

I'm looking to switch from a PC to a Mac, and all of my data is on two external NTFS hard drives.
Am I ok using NTFS-3g and keeping my drives formatted NTFS indefinitely, or should buy a new drive, format it FAT32, and move all the data to it?

  • HT4527 Transferring Itunes to Mac without duplicating

I've had my Mac for about a year and now decided to import all of my cd's into itunes on my HP computer because I don't have a cd drive on my Macbook air. What is the best way to move my itunes with all of the newly imported music from my HP computer to my Mac.  I was thinking of using an external hard drive but I'm not sure that's the best way.  I read about consolidating accounts, but it sounds like I'll end up with duplications.  We're talking A LOT of songs so I don't want to have to go through and delete all the duplicates.  Is that possible?  HELP!

Sorry, I was thinking about making sure you moved the library from one machine to the other in a way which keeps it working, assuming there was nothing already on the target machine. Merging libraries is a different issue, but in general I'd suggest moving the existing media folder on the Mac to one side, migrating the larger library from the HP (If I have that right?) then importing the media folder you put aside earlier. Finally dedupe using the process described in HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library...
Note that unlike Windows where the files and folders are merged. if you copy one folder on top of another in OS X the new folder completely replaces the one that was there before. Any files that were located in the old folder are completely destroyed.

  • Transferring information between macs

Can I transfer my documents, music, and pictures from an old macbook to a new macbook pro using time machine?

I had already started up my mac so I assume I have to use Migration Assistant at this point.  I tried doing the firewire connection and using time machine with my old mac, and it seemed like everything worked (Migration Assistant said the transfer was complete); however, I can't find any of my files (specifically pictures, music, and documents...my old applications transferred) on my new mac.  Is there a specific folder that all of my information would be sent to?
    Thanks so much!
