Sync itune between two different mac

I have been using a powerbook pro for the past 3 years and built up my own itune library during the time. Now that I have got the new imac, is there anyway that I can sync the songs between the two macs that I have?

I looked into using it, tried it and it didn't do anything but waste my time. I would NOT recommend this utility! After selecting and unselecting amongst the jumble of song, podcasts, movies, tv shows mixed up by title, author or other random titles, I told it to Copy and after a wait for the progress bar to complete it finished and I found the only thing it did was create a SynchoTunes folder inside my destination iTunes folder. Nothing was copied.

Hi All,
This is the first time I've posted. Excuse my ignorance but I've never really worked with Mac. I'm really excited to buy my first apple next week!
My question is about transfering my itunes from my PC (XP) to the Imac Dual Core I will be purchasing next week.
I already have my itunes music folder on an external hard drive. The data files although are still physically on my PC (My Documents). Will I have to transfer those as well? What info is acutally on those files? I'm not so much worried about the music because with it being on the external drive they should be easy to transfer (I'm hoping). I would hate to lose all my album art. I would appreciate anyone who could assist this newbie.

You made the first step already by transferring your music to an external HD.
Normally, the album art is stored inside the music files (MP3 and AAC. I don't know how the Windows version of iTunes stores it in WAV or other Windows-specific files.
iTunes stores the locations of the songs and lots of other data in the 'iTunes Library' file (iTunes Library.itl on a PC)
Most data is also stored in the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file.
Copying this file to the ext. HD and later to the Mac could help you to restore the library.
The next procedure works with the Mac version of the .xml file and it might work with the Windows version.
After running iTunes on the Mac for the first time, select 'Import...' from the File menu in the menubar and navigate to the .xml file.
Select 'Choose' and if it works, your library and playlists will appear.

Permissions Issues after Transferring iTunes Library to new Mac.

My intention is to move the library off my old iMac, and keep the iTunes library on the new one, while still keeping the old iMac around. After the transfer i intend to delete the library off the old one, and use HomeSharing to utlize iTunes on both Macs. Also, the old iMac is where our family has synced ever iPod, iPhone, & iPad we've owned... I've been on the support community for almost two days now, and thought I had it figured out, but... i obviously don't. in the process of moving my iTunes from my old iMac (iMac7,1 - OS X 10.6.8) to my new iMac (iMac Late 2012 - OS X 10.8.5) i used the instructions on: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527. It identified how to move the library found in (on my old iMac) VolumeA/music/iTunes. I used the External Hard Drive method, only I linked up the two iMacs with an Ethernet cable (direct connect, no router) and copied the iTunes folder (as described in the instructions) to the desktop of the new iMac. Then I pasted the iTunes folder over the existing folder on the new iMac.
Now I'm having trouble with permissions on the new iMac now. At first iTunes wouldn't even open. It said I didn't have permission, or the library was in a locked file. I thought I had it figured out by going into "get info" in the iTunes folder (on the new iMac) and adjusting the permissions. which worked as far as allowing iTunes to open now (Both computers are running iTunes 11.1 (126)).
Now that i've synced my iphone 5 with the iTunes (on the new iMac) i noticed that some of the songs wouldn't sync because I don't have permission...?
Beginning to think I've screwed this whole thing up...
Also, I noticed that there is another iTunes folder, that wasn't discussed in this article: VolumeA/Library/iTunes - Do i need to copy this one over as well?

It helps to know which instructions you are following. Some people follow the wrong instructions and just move media, not the whole library which consists of many files and folders. You do not do it with changing preferences.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

Can I transfer all my music in iTunes from a Mac to a PC with Windows Vista using my iPod? If so, how do I do that?

I just purchased a Mac Pro - switching from a PC. I plugged in my iPod Touch and the iTunes on my mac will not let me sync my Touch because it says I am already synced with another library. This is something I would expect from Microsoft not Apple!
This article did not help. I was able to follow all instructions, but my version of iTunes doesn't seem to have an import library selection.
How can I syncmy iPod with my new Mac without having to record in all my music again?

It sounds like you're trying to get your content transferred from your iPhone to your iTunes Library on your computer. The following Knowledge Base article offers up how to do just that:

Transferring itunes onto a new mac - PLEASE HELP!

I hope this isnt a to confusing question. I JUST bought a new macbook and im getting rid of my imac. The problem is I have a TON of songs and albums on my itunes. I would like to know if i can transfer everything to where i wont have to set up all of my albums again. That would just take HOURS of work that i dont have. If anyone can help that would be great! If i wasnt clear enough in my question also please let me know so i can help get this issue fixed.
I have ALREADY done the Migration Assistant program with the 2 macs and it didnt seem to work.
Please NOTE: all of my MP3's were kept on an external HD that was fire wired to my old Imac.

Choose Consolidate Library from the Advanced menu or the Library section of the File menu in iTunes, find the iTunes library location from the iTunes preferences, and move the folder to the new computer using any method necessary, such as an external drive, optical disks, or a network connection.

Transfering Music Between PC and Mac

I have a main home computer, a PC running windows 7 professional, and I have a new Macbook Air. I want to save space on my Air by using an external HDD, but I am having issues getting everything to transfer to my Mac.
One issue I am currently experiencing is that when ever I try to export my playlists, it only exports one playlist called "Music" and it contains about 10 songs of my current library of over 2500 songs. I found a complicated video online on how to transfer an individual playlist, but I have 50+ playlists, and this would take hours.
Another problem I have is that every time I add a song to my main computer (Not purchased through iTunes, I have 1,000s of CDs), I have to find that one song/album on the HDD, transfer it to the external HDD, and then in iTunes on my Macbook Air I have to find that song again and add it to the library individually.
Is there any way to use iCloud or something else to help ease these problems?

It sounds like you were attemting the transfer over a network. Try creating a Time Machine backup (or updating the one you have) and use that with Migration Assistant. It is faster and more reliable. You need a Time Machine backup anyway so if you don’t have on this is the time to create one. Create one (or more) for each machine.

Transferring iTunes between user accounts

I have just moved my iTunes library from my PC to my MacBook pro via Migration Assistant, however, I did this after my initial set up. So it has created a new user profile, profile B, which my iTunes library is now in. Question: how do I now move/merge/transfer my library that is in profile B (ex-PC data) to my (initially setup) profile A? I have looked through FAQ but have found nothing that has helped. For my benefit, please pretend you're talking with a monkey, I am not computer savvy at all. Cheers.

I've been trying to do this same thing. My wife and I share one computer and she has her own login account to check email etc. I moved all the music, movies, videos to the shared folder. We can now "share" that music without having two iTunes media libraries. However, I want to remedy the situation of adding music from different accounts, adding and deleting playlists. How do I have that type of library data automatically get updated from account to account? I've asked this question in it's own thread about a week ago and it got buried with no responses or solutions.

There is something incompatible would be my guess. Did you disconnect all your peripherals in safe mode just to check?
You might now create a new temporary user account. Log into the new account. Do the panics still occur?
