Transferring iTunes rentals between computers?

I have several devices which could accept iTunes rentals - an iPhone, an Apple TV, and multiple computer systems. If I have a rental I downloaded on System A (the system the AppleTV is synced to), I can move the rental to the AppleTV with no problem. I have not tried it, but I am sure I can move the rental to the iPhone. However, System A is a desktop and I would like to move it to System B (a laptop) for when I am on the go. What's the solution here?

Hi Colbat,
It's easy. The most recommended way is to transfer it first to your iPhone and then to your laptop.
The be sure your laptop is also authorized to play iTunes content using your account.
Hope this helps!

  • Transferring Itunes data between computers using an external hard drive.

I just bought a new laptop and an external hard drive. What is the best way to go about transfering all of my 1400 songs on Itunes from my old computer to my new laptop using the external hard drive? I have purchased some songs from Itunes but mostly they were not bought there. Thanks in advance.

The guide for using the iPod as a hard drive is a good starting point. Just skip on past the part about enabling the iPod as a hard drive and read from "Is all the music together?". Substitute "external hard drive" for "iPod" and the instructions are the same: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer

  • Transferring iTunes librarys between computers.

Hey I just got a new Macbook Pro and I transferred all my music and iTunes stuff to it, but when I transferred everything over all my song's playcounts were erased. I used My top 25 most played smart playlist a lot and now it's useless. All the information used to be on my mom's pc. Is there any way I could get that information off of that computer onto this one?

That's basically what I did. I used a external hard drive and just copied/paste the whole music folder from the pc to my new computer.
    Which "whole music folder"?
Was it \My Music\ folder which contains an iTunes folder or \iTunes music\ folder, which is in \My Music\iTunes\ folder?
The playcount is stored in the \My Music\iTunes\iTunes library.itl file.
Does the iTunes Music Library.xml file have anything to do with it?
iTunes creates this file only fro opther applications to access iTunes library.
Not sure if playcount is in this file but it can be imported into iTunes.
If you do import it, it will duplicate all your playlists.

you can download CS 5 from here : http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
Make sure you follow all the steps before you begin download.
After downloading it, you can install and activate using your serial key.

  • How to share one Itunes account between computers

I'm trying to figure out how to actually move music in Itunes from one computer to another. I have the same account set up on both my desktop and laptop and I can access music from one on the other when they are both signed into Itunes. However, I would like to move some music from the desktop onto my laptop. Can I do this without hooking them up together (i.e. firewire cable, or whatever you would normally use)? Thanks!

    Hi,
We have something similar with 2 computers at home, and use 'iTunes Library Updater' (freeware on http://itlu.ownz.ch/wordpress/) which should serve your purpose.

  • Transferring iTunes Purchases Between Accounts

I have two Apple IDs, one iTunes ID and one Mobile Me ID. I don't want to have to move between the two. That is, use one for iTunes and another as my Mobile Me, but if I just use my Mobile Me one all my old purchases won't work or I'll have to constantly re-validate them with my old one. I want to delete my old one and transfer all my purchases to my Mobile Me account. Is this possible and if so how do I do it. Does it need to be done through Apple support?

  • Can I share Other itunes data between Computers?

I have an imac at home and a macbook pro for work. I would really like to be able to share the apps that I have bought and the Movies etc.. between the two machines.
In a similar way that I do with my imac and my ipad..
    Can I do this?
I have the icloud sharing of my music files.. but thats it..
    Just music files
    Thanks

If they are both authorized to your AppleID (which a work-owned computer might not be) you can, easily.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
If they are not authorized then you might have limited success with hand-copying files to a flash drive.  Supposedly DRM has been removed from music files and they do not need authorization, but movies would need for you to authorize the computer.  Can I Put Multiple iTunes Accounts on My iPhone? - http://techtips.salon.com/can-put-multiple-itunes-accounts-iphone-3518.html

  • Transfering iTunes library between accounts in the same computer??

    Hi everyone
I use my MacBook both at home and in my office. I work in a small company, so everyone is very relaxed about security. I only have one account, but recently, while at the office I discovered someone browsing at some of my kids' pictures.
To avoid this,I decided to set up a "office" account. Everything went fine until I opened iTunes and found that I don't have any songs (they must have missed the memo about the new account!)
Is there an easy way to transfer those songs to my new account? I stress, this is the same computer we're talking about!!!
    Thanks

Do you mean they were viewing the pix on your computer? iTunes does not have pix for anyone to view. (This is the iTunes forum)
To avoid this,I decided to set up a "office" account.
You created a new account on the computer?
If you are talking about the computer, open the first accounts - > System prefs - Sharing.
    Under Services, turn OFF everything.
    Under FireWall, turn it ON.

  • Transfering iPhoto data between computers

I built a book on my work computer and decided i want to bring it home. I can do this in iWeb by taking the domain.sites file with me from computer to computer. what do I have to take with me to hop back and forth as I work on this photo book before publishing.
I'll also be combining my work Mac and Home mac which are both old into one laptop soon with Leopard and I'd like to continue working on some of these projects and not have to run 3 computers until the projects are done.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Yes, but it's not especially graceful.
In the Pictures Folder, make a duplicate of the iPhoto Library Folder (File -> Duplicate) Give it a distinctive name: The Book Library...
Then hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu, select 'Choose Library' and point iPhot at 'The Book Library'
The Book Library opens. Now remove any pics you don't want to share from that library: (put them in the iPhoto trash and go iPhoto Menu -> Empty trash).
Now you have 'The Book Library'. Copy it to your friend's Mac. He can open it with the same hold the option (or alt) key trick.
To revert to your full library, you can do the same: hold the option (or alt) key on launch.
    Regards

  • HT204053 The music I have on iTunes is all from my CDs. Can I copy the contents of my iTunes music between computers/pads/phones?

I'm starting to buy e-books, and e-magazines/newspapers.  So far they are scattered about on my Air/Pads/Phone. They come in a variety of formats. iTunes, Kindle, PDF, and more. There are also some I want that will need an Android machine to download.
I need to keep track of all these, preferably in one place (the iCloud?). I would prefer them all to be in the same format; iTunes or PDF, preferably, but anything reasonable considered. BTW I use EndNote - could I store them in there?
    Thanx in advance.

  • Transferring KN files between computers

I have a MacPro desktop and a G5 laptop, both soon to have iWork '08. I wish to create the presentation on the MP and display it on the G5. How do I package the presentation and related files (such as QT movies) so that I can copy it onto the G5?
Also, do I have to have the presentation's particular theme installed on the G5? I am using a third-party theme from Brian Peat's company.

In the Advanced Options: settings in the Save dialog box, choose
*+Copy audio and movies into document+*
to copy audio and movie files into the document. If you'd also like to carry the theme graphics with you, choose
    *+Copy theme images into document+*
as well. Installing the third-party theme on both computers would probably mean smaller file sizes to port over, so that may be something to think about.
