Transferring iWeb folder to other computer

Is it possible to make an iWeb site, then publish it to a folder on my HD, then copy and burn that to cd and give it to someone who will publish it on his own site? Will that work?

Yes.
They will not be able to use iWeb to make any edits or new pages, however.
With the correct permissions you could upload to their Site from your machine.

You need to copy them from the computer you purcahsed them with to the other computer. You can use CD/DVD, external hard drive, flash drive or network the computers.

Songs don't "stay" in your account. They stay on your computer and on your backup disks. If you get rid of your computers befefore you make a backup of your songs, you will lose your songs.

Font probs transferring iweb to a new computer?

I transferred my iweb site to a new computer and a lot of the fonts are messed up? (note, I used standard ariel fonts)
I copied over the entire domain folder.
the original site was made on version 1.1.2 and i am now running iweb 2.0.3 could someone tell me if there is something i can do to remedy this as it'll take a long time changing every letter that needs fixed. Thanks - Ricky

Would not want to confuse OP into thinking the procedure of double-clicking the Domain file is required everytime the desire to open app is present. _Look Here_ for complete Apple documentation. Given that information coupled with your suggestion OP could copy the Domain file to anywhere on their new Mac and then double-clicking Domain file would be +absolutely required+ to open project in iWeb. This would then set new location of Domain file where afterwards simply launching iWeb app from dock, app folder or otherwise would open the Domain file, wherever it was located. Your suggestion mentioned copying Domain to equivalent location of ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb and in doing so double-clicking is not required since this is the default location iWeb looks for the Domain file at anyway.

Transferring iWeb site to school computer running Expression Web

I have been told by my school system's tech person that I can transfer my iWeb pages to the school site on the school computer(running Expression Web) by loading it onto a removable storage drive and bringing it in..any tips would be great..her instructions weren't very clear...would love to be able to use what I have created on iWeb and simply connect it to the school's server via that method...she says she does it all the time so I know it works, just need to know what to copy onto my portable drive...thanks!!!!

Question regarding transferring files to my other computer - ???

Hi, I have a question ... Here's the background ~ I have two iPods (iPod touch and iPod nano, older model) and want to be able to sync them with the laptop my brother gave me. It's a Dell, running Windows Vista - Business version (??)... I'm in the process of moving all my files over, or rather, I would like to move all my files over from my eMac (Mac OSX 10.4.11) to the Dell and then replace my eMac with a newer desktop computer because the eMac has been running poorly for some time now. My other files moved over fine but the stuff I've downloaded from the iTunes store doesn't move properly, much of it says it can't be moved from the eMac. Some of it came over... the newer shows, for example (Fringe, and Dr. Horrible) but all the shows I've downloaded for my kids won't move over. It's not an issue of hard drive space, as I have plenty. And I've checked authorization ~ both computers are authorized, so I should be able to move it right?? But the iPods refuse to sync with the Dell.
What's going on? I feel like an idiot (and probably am :: lol :: )

You can use the hard drive as is; the software is intended for Windows and/or is intended for a specific purpose beyond simply storing data on the drive, such as automated backups.
Secondly, how do I transfer my iTunes and iPhoto files over to the HD and retain my playlists and photo albums?
Create a new Finder window, click on the item in the Finder's sidebar with the house icon, and then drag the items Music/iTunes/ and Pictures/iPhoto Library/ to the drive. You may want to erase the drive in the Disk Utility, which is in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, first.

i purchased several albums from itune store to my laptop. and burnd audio CD to import to tower computer. when put CD in tower, it's said "song names not be found online." and playlist information did not show, shows only track number.
why music information did not show in CD.
both computer are authorized.

Because you didn't keep the track info when you burnt the cd. Go to preference > advanced > burning and make sure "Include CD text" is checked.

Updating iWeb from a different computer

I cannot find a way to access my iWeb editing pages from a different computer (work desktop vs laptop). Is it even possible? Is there a "file sharing/permissions" thing I need to establish? When I open iWeb on the "other" computer is there a way to access what I've started on my laptop? Help! I'm so frustrated ...

How I do to open a website created with iWeb in other computer

My web site was created with iWeb last year in other computer, a dead MacBook. I have a copy of my web files created with iWeb, and moved to my new computer, iMac.
Now I want to edit my web using iWeb, but I can´t find the way to open the files to modify and actualize my web, etc...
Does anyone know how to do this? can iWeb open and edit a web site created by itself?

Felix ~ No, only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
“Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.”
If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

Transferring iWeb 06 site to new computer

My mac.com site was made with iWeb 06 on my previous computer. On my new iMac, iWeb has no trace of this site so I cannot make changes. Is it possible to download the site directly to the new iMac or must I get the old computer and transfer the domain folder via a CD or ethernet?
Are there any surprises waiting for me when the site is updated by iWeb 08?

Do you have access to the old computer? If so go into the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on it and copy the Domain.sites file to the new computer. Put it in the same location, i.e. User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you have any domain.sites2 files in there and they are empty move them to the trash. When you open iWeb it will open that domain file and covert it over to the iWeb 2 format.
FWIW IWeb cannot import any previously published sites. It only generates them.

Tags are not transferring over to other computer using same login

I use two computers to access the same email account on Thunderbird. I have the same tags set up on both. For over a year now I have been able to tag an email on one computer and it will appear tagged on the other computer as well. However, just recently this has stopped happening. The tags I have applied on one computer no longer show up on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix it?

If you create a new folder with one message, then tag it, does the tag appear on the other computer? Since tags are stored in the folder index files, the non-working folders may have corrupted indexes (which might be fixed by right-clicking the folder, Properties, Repair Folder). Backup first in case the Repair function misbehaves.

Getting Iweb pages from one computer to the other

I built an IWeb site on one computer. Now I want to update the pages on another computer, but I be darned if I can figure out how to do it. Am I just stuck using the same computer whenever I want to update my web site?

Other Computer's Movie Folder

I've got a Mac Mini in the living room, hooked up to a TV. It of course can watch all the movies in the iTunes movie folder as well as the movies in the regular "Movies" folder itself.
From my iMac in the other room, I can, using the Sources option in Front Row, watch the movies that are in the Mini's iTunes moivies folder. I'd like to be able to also watch the movies in the regular "Movies" folder. Is this possible using Front Row?

All of my computers have file sharing turned on.
All of my computers have iTunes sharing turned on and selected playlists, movies, tv shows, audiobooks are checked to share.
All of my computers have iPhoto sharing turned on.
When I open Front Row, I have to go to Source, Music, and then the movies folder on the shared computer shows up. However, it will NOT play a movie even though there is a movie there.
It says something like "there are no songs in this playlist"...
This is a lot different than the photos sharing.
You do not have to select a source for photo sharing like music.
Select Photos, then the next window in Front Row shows "Shared Photos" at the very top.
When I click on that I can view my shared photos from the other computer(s)...
It seems they should have something like that for Movies but it isn't there that I see.
I used to be able to watch shared movies with Tiger and Front Row.
I can no longer do it.

IWeb domain sites2 file can't seem to open on other computer

Thanks to the many postings, I finally found my domain sites2 file.
I have iWeb08.
I stored domain.site on my mobile me directory, but couldn't open it on my other computer
I put it on a removeable thumb drive, and still couldn't open it.
Am I missing something here?

TS1474 I having problems transfering music to my I phone from my other computer.

I synce my I phone with my newer laptop and click manually manage music and videos. But when I connect it to my other computer the box is unchecked. Why can't I do this?

your iphone can only synce with one pc at a time, but when you want to add songs to your iphone for another pc, and you don't want to lose the data that you already have,
1- on your music store creat a new list(on your iphone)
2-press synce
3- the songs that are on the pc, drag them to the play list you created and synce.
