Transferring license from a stolen device to a new device
I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS6 and installed one license on a desktop and the other on a laptop. My laptop was recently stolen and I would like to find out if that license can be cancelled and transferred to a new laptop. Please advise.
Please note that you are NOT addressing Adobe in these user forums.
Under normal circumstances, at this point, I would advise you to contact Adobe Customer Service, since only they can help, but it so happens that I tried to accomplish exactly what you describe (my laptop did not get stolen, but its HD died) three days ago and I got a customer service representative by the name of Tajinder and an IQ evidently in the room temperature range, who insisted they have no means of deactivating applications.

Me: Essentially, I have one copy of Ps CS4 on a G5 and want to install the other one on a Mac Pro.
Me: OK, it's like talking to a bloody brick Wall. You must be a robot, not a human being.
Me: What time is it in India right now? Maybe I can call at another time when you have more staff on duty.
Tajinder: Its 11.20 am now.Also we do not have support for cs4 products.
Me: It is NOT tech support, for god's sake. It's deactivating one of my copies, and that is a task only you can perform.
Me: I'm willing to escalate this all the way Tajinder, your service is unacceptable.
Tajinder: I can understand your issue but we do not have any option to deactivate the product you can deactivate the product on you end.
Tajinder: Open the product if its installed then click on help and deactivate the product.
Me: Only YOU can deactivate an installed copy that is no longer . Don't be an IDIOT, I cannot access the product because the hard drive is DEAD!
Me: The applicatiuon will be installed in an entirely different Mac.
Tajinder: In this case please try to install the product,If you have any issue i can help you to fix.
Mea: Be back to you later. Have a good lunch!
Tajinder: Thank you for contacting Adobe. Good Bye!

When transferring data from an older iMac to a newer iMac (refurbished) do the Apple applications like iWorks replace the ones on the newer computer?
I have read how to transfer data and using setup assistant but I am concerned about applications from Apple having the same names.As you likely know legacy apps that are PPC based will not migrate over. However the data files will. I would urge you to inventory the apps you have and their data files to see how important they are and then look app by app to see what app replacements are available. If you are using Office for Mac prior to the 2008 version you will need to get a new license of the app because the 2004 version was PPC based. The files will come over and are readable by newer version of Office for Mac (I recommend the 2011 version) and also readable by the iWorks apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) but those are different apps than Office and work differently and do not have all of the features of the MS Office apps. This is really only a issue if you share files with MS Office users, if you use them for personal work then iWork may be just fine for your needs.

I have recently transferred data from my old Mac to my new one. The result was good, but I have 2 users now, whose data I want to merge into 1 single user, so to avoid having to switch from one user to the other to view and use certain files. How to do it?
Here's an easy way:
Pick the user that you want to eliminate (making sure that the remaining user has administrator privileges) and move all of the data that you want to keep into the Shared folder. Reboot or log out and login to the user you want to keep. Copy all the data from the Shared folder into your account - placing it neatly in folders (Documents, Music, Movies, etc.).
Once the data is moved, log into the account you want to delete just once more to make certain that you've grabbed all the data you want to keep. Log out and log back into your admin account and go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and delete the 'old' user.
That should do it.

You'll need to erase the drive by booting up holding command-option-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
Use Disk Utility to erase the disk and then Internet Recovery. That will take a while.

I have recently transferred data from my old PC to my new Mac Book Pro (Mavericks OS). Each transfer creates a new User account (titled 'Owner', 'Owner 1', etc). I want to merge / consolidate the files from these newly created User accounts into my main user account. Is there a tutorial for this process, or any tips? Anyone?
Four transfers. After the initial attempt with Migration Assistant failed (after hours and hours of wifi transfer) I did "mini-transfers" of more manageable, smaller bits of files -- my music in one, photos in another, etc. Since posting my question in this forum, i contacted Apple support, chatted with Angela, and she suggested getting an ethernet-USB adapter for my mac, connecting my external drive with ethernet and transferring files manually -- that is, NOT using the Migration Assistant at all.
