Transferring messages in Windows Explorer

With a previous version of PC suite, I could see my messages folder in the Nokia Phone Bowser part of Windows Explorer and transfer messages to a store directory on my PC.  When I recently had cause to try and restore the messgaes to the phone, the messages folder is no longer accessible in the same way.  The only thing that's changed is that I have a newer version of PC Suite now.  Does anyone know if there's a setting in PC Suite which will allow me access or which earlier version I need to install in order to retrieve this useful function?

Hi lordjon,
Its not a solution what you are expecting but still, connect your mobile with nokia pc suite, Open Nokia communication Centre, select the message(s) you want to drag it to pc and you can store it on your pc directory, if you want you can use Nokia communication Centre for managing your messages in .csv format.
While dragging the messages to your pc, it will be .vmg format.
I guess you can install Nokia PC Suite 6.8x version of pc suite, but i am not sure if this is the version you are looking for, but you can google it before installing

  • Transfering Files Using Windows Explorer

Rather than using windows media player, why can't I just use windows explorer to add photos to my droid 2?  When I hook up my droid 2 to my computer with the usb cable, the droid appears in windows explorer.  I want to just drag and drop photos to the droid.  I have tried this with a couple of photos and it seems to work.  Will this method cause any problems?  It seems a lot easier than using windows media player to "sync" files.

It apeaqrs that they automatically go into the photo folder.  I was able to access them via the "Gallery" app.
I wonder why the user guide doesn't recommend this since I find it a lot easier to do than using the "sync" process?

  • How to play music transfered manually by windows explorer

    Hi there,
my iPod Shuffle is recognized and I can easily transfer files (mp3). However, they are not played but only the two songs I transfered with iTunes. Is there a possibility?

Unless your using something like Anapod Explorer to drag and drop files, your Shuffle will not recognise them.
Add your songs to iTunes inorder to sync them.
The iPod has a specific file structure for organising files. Just placing them on will not work.
Lastly iTunes auto converts songs from a higher bit-rate to 128. This is because the Shuffle will not play higher bit-rate files in-order to fit more songs on such a small capacity. If you are adding files that are above 128 bit-rate you will definitely not be able to play them (even with MediaFour's X play or Anapod Explorer)

  • Windows explorer stopped working when trying to open a specific folder...and solution

I have had a problem with a specific folder or two on my computer, when I open the folder I get the error message that windows explorer has stopped working.  It only happens with specific folders and everything else works fine.
I did a lot of reading to figure out a fix.
I finally tried right clicking the program explorer.exe located in C:Windows and chose "run as administrator" and this fixed the problem.
Note that the error message details list an application crash of windows.exe
I thought I would post this to help others.  I don't know if this is the same problem some folks describe with a continual loop of the error message, problems opening the control panel or problems upon start up.  But if you have a similar problem to the one I described try this very simple fix.
    Cheers

I don't know what OS you are running, but under Windows 7 RC build 7100 the selection was ghosted to "run as administrator".
I was able to stop the problem from happening by right clicking the folder I was having problems with, selecting properties>customize tab and changing the "Optimize this folder for:" from Videos to General Items.
I know that this particular folder was optimized for general items from the beginning as I had just folders inside which were filled with videos. When I started to move videos into this parent folder to separate them later, this parent folder switched by itself
to being optimized for Videos. I'm not positive but I think that this was the time I started to have a problem with this folder until I did what I described above.
This is my very first post, so I hope I explained things well enough to be of help to someone.
    Thanks
That's fixed my problem.  Stopped responding every time I opened My Videos, changed the file properties to optimized for general and now the icons aren't thumbnail big but it doesn't crash now...  Thank you, it was really starting to bug me.

  • Windows Explorer Stopped Working after Adjusting Preferences in Bridge

OK, this is the PhotoShop forum and in the Bridge forum is where this issue should be addressed, but there is little activity there, so I hope no one will mind me posting here...
The following problem occurred after adjusting the Preference settings in Bridge:
When right clicking on any folder in either the Explorer or on the Desktop the following message is displayed "Windows Explorer has stopped working..."
This is now the second time, after having created two new User Accounts. While Explorer worked perfectly for a couple of days before adjusing the settings in Birdge, I cannot undo what has caused this problem and am reluctant to setup yet another user account. Also, I can't figure out which setting change might have caused this.
Is it possible that by adjusting the settings in Bridge it added a shell extension to Windows Explorer?
Has anyone here encountered a similar problem after adjusting the settings in Bridge?
    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi,
    Please first take a try to run SFC /Scannow command under the user account;
Further, we may take a try to fix the user profile through the steps mentioned in the below article:
    Fix a corrupted user profile
For the error message about Windows Explorer has stopped working, here is a KB article talking about it:
    Windows Explorer has stopped working
The issue might be caused by some applications or services running under that user account, please try the method mentioned in the above article for detailed troubleshooting.

  • Windows explorer stopped working in a VDI environtment for a specific user only

Hi we have a VDI environment with a link clone image for all users. Only one user(admin1) login to the virtual desktop got this error, ....windows explorer stop working and requires restart it. it is the same issue after restart it, change a PC, change another
VDI client version, always same issue. Tried other users with these pc and client and has no issue at all. All use the same pool, same snapshot and same image. Windows 7 32bit OS. also tried to delete the profile folder and let it recreate it , it's redirected
to a file server. the folder can be seen created, but empty inside. other user profile all ok. this user admin1 is a domain administrator. It's property in AD shows an extra "delegation" tab and all else look the same as other account. Since other
users ok, I believe it's not VDI issue, should be this windows user profile issue. any advice please? Thanks

  • I blog on TypePad using Word 2007 and documents freeze when I'm looking at them in Windows explorer; why do I get the error message that Mozilla is looking for a script?

I have now had two error messages - the first one looked for this script: Script: resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:258. The second one (today) looked for Script: resource://gre/components/nsPrompter.js:68.
I have reset my word template, also reset word registry for data and options (as per Microsoft's help pages) for both those 'fixes' there was an initial improvement, but the problem happened again after I reposted on my blog today and then went to Windows explorer to view my files. It seems to 'seize' as I select a file, so that the preview does not appear (for up to 15-20mins).
I see on the internet using the second script as a search just now that one other has had a similar problem and one also since Mozilla 4 upgrade. My problems have also been pretty much since I upgraded.
It happens (apart from my fixes) every time I go to look at a word document via Windows explorer. Excel files are less affected.
One web suggestion is to clear the cache, but I am hesitant to lose all my passwords unless I have to.

I still have the problem although I uninstalled Mozilla (clearing the cache didn't work and neither did Word diagnostics), so have ended up thinking it could be Norton (the manual update worked x1) or Windows. Today I found an answer: disable the preview pane in Windows Explorer - there's a history of problems with this view.

  • While browsing Firefox, display another htm*file by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer and not getting the erro message "Firefox is already running (etc) "

While browsing the Web with Firefox, I often want to view an htm (or html etc) file that is recorded on my computer, by double-clicking it in my Windows Explorer, hoping it will open automatically a new tab.
When I try this now, I get the error message "Firefox is already running (etc)" .
In my current setup, Firefox is associated with the htm and html file name extensions.
If, instead of double-clicking the filename in the Explorer, I choose the Firefox menu item "Open a file", this works OK.
In old versions of Firefox, double-clicking a filename in the Windows Explorer or File Manager caused Firefox to open a new window every time which was ok.
I have the same problem with Thunderbird, which I have associated with the "eml" file name extension. How can I view a series of recorded ".eml" files with Thunderbird when Thunderbird is already running ? Thank you.

The target field of the desktop shortcut is "D:\C_Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" (no switch)
The system/environment variable MOZ_nO_REMOTE is now 0, changed from 1, but I can see no difference. Maybe I need to restart the system to get a change ?
    Thank you.

  • Windows 7 Error Message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error.... Followed by Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working

I am running a system that is not quite 6 months old, which is loaded with Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.
The error message that I get is as follows: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.  Runtime error!  Program C:\windows\Explorer.exe.  This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the
application's support team for more information.
Once I respond to that message, I get a message that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working.  Then I get "Windows Explorer is re-starting"
I don't know if the next event is related - today, immediately after getting the message above, I got a pop-up that said "An update to Adobe Flash Player is available" - and I am given the option of installing it or not.  Today, I did not install
the update - although I recall having accepted this update in the past (again, I don't know if the two situations always occur together).
Is there some help I can be provided to correct this problem?  I have looked at several related topics in this database, but have not found anything that seems to directly relate to my question.
       Thanks!    Mark

    Hi,
Did you try to reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

What about to boot the computer in safe mode and Clean Boot to test this issue?

  • Transferring multiple videos by windows explorer. Error code 0x80030001

Phoostream is a great feature. Transferring photos have never been so easy. However, I do have a qualm regarding the service and that is that it does not sync videos! Therefore, I still have to go back to the arduous processes of plugging it into my computer and selecting the videos to be transferred to my computer. However, it wasn't as easy as I had expected. Windows import feature imports both photo and videos and I can ONLY import new media. Old media is not imported so that means that videos that I synced that may have been deleted are not imported through windows explorer.l, and I cannot get it to transfer anymore. I tried copy and pasting multiple videos from the windows explorer but it prompted me the error code 0x80030001 and it cannot be transferred. I have to transfer them individually. Anyone has a reliable and easy way to get my videos to transfer from iPhone to PC?

yeah! sure windows problem... neither the location nor the folder path is given in default industry standards... by APPLE DEVICE
But if I need my latest taken picture from an apple phone... one can see over more than 30 directories random named like 845OJOX or 900DZDMI ???
In those random named directories lies apples 'closed coding' following faulthy tagging and resulting in different and random again batches of photos taken.
If I do a search in windows I can find all the pictures on this apple phone and even better i'm in control to sort the way i like!
Unfortunately the apple 'faulthy tagging method' makes it impossible to communicate with any other divice about accessing...
This is a simple poor show of apple's limited object oriented filing...
The same i had from pictures taken of a holliday where i did change my phone to local time and my wife's phone not and the seperate camera had also home settings... when i imported those all together after holliday via a program called i-tunes I had to buy 3 different apps and store all these holliday pictures(8gig) seperate (problem since 16gig should be available on apples device; i had only 9gig freed by eliminating all apps possible... and needed 24gig total for apps photo database) in all the overpriced purchased apps, to finaly show those pictures time synchronized to the holliday !
How hard it can be to sort files as the user needs????
DRAMATIC POOR APPLE PERFORMANCE (i thought apple was so good with pictures and so..)
On my pc I also did import the holliday pictures from these three devices and sorted those within minutes(!!!) right to holliday time sync...
Anyway i found also a time consuming way to copy latest taken pictures in random apple maps
(i wish to select a specific time batch and drag these to new map on pc (no apple pc))
look in all the random named apple device maps and check if there is a picture belonging to the batch you need and drag these to the new map...
Something what could take from any other phone some milisecs... takes with apple devices 2 days time !!!!
Best way for taking photo's you need later on other devices than apple... take the photo's on a non apple device and save extra holliday time!

  • Itunes 7.7 won't install. Windows Explorer message pops up. ???

Well, Itunes sure makes it frustrating to do business with them. I've tried installing the Itunes update so I can purchase music from the site, but after trying several suggestions, I got to the point where the upgrade install was taking place, then I received a new screen informing me that "the following applications are using files that need to be updated by this installer. Close these apps..." the apps in question is (Windows Explorer, process Id: 1412) However, I'm not using this app and don't know how to close it. I don't usually like to give up on something like this, so I sure could use some help if anyone out there has this problem and knows how to resolve it. Thanks, buddyg.

    Hey there, Janelle,
thanks for your reply to my question. I did what you suggested and went to the task manager, and there I found the Windows Explorer system. But before I end the process, a screen comes up telling me that I will lose any unsaved data in that process, and also that it might result in an unstable system. What do you think? What are the risks, if any, in ending this process for Windows Explorer? What is an unstable system, anyway?
Thank you in advance, take care

  • "Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working" Error Message Loop upon Startup of WIndows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Ok I have a HP Touchsmart 6000 running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS.  It is my 74 year old mothers computer and about 3 months ago it started acting up.  First thing that happened was the internal DVD Burner started working intermitently, recognizing
her QuickBooks backup DVD files occasionally.  I got her a new  internal DVD burner and it worked for a while.   during that time on Startup Help and Support would all of a sudden popup right away.    Then recently Adobe Acrobat would
launch a PDF file about Flash and keep opening multiple instances of it.   Now her new DVD doesnt work again and on startup at the windows desktop she gets an error "Windows Explorer has Stopped Working".   No matter what I click the error
keeps looping.  No program has been opened that causes it to crash because the error happens immediately and keeps repeating.   I have tried to boot to Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and have tried System Restore to no avail.
I have ran Malwarebytes Antivirus, Malwarebytes AntiExploit, AntiRootkit as well as Combofix.   I have run the AntiMalware software from Microsoft and have updated all the drivers for the HP system.   To no succcess.
At one point the system did load and an error came up JAN2OSD failed to start due to missing ACPI or something like that.  For that brief moment Explorer stopped crashing.   When I finished updating  driverss though the error  came back.
Please Help  as she is about to cry and no one wants to make a 74 year old woman cry.:)
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi,
According to the steps you have performed, we have followed the steps mentioned in this KB article?

  • Video that appears in iTunes but not Windows Explorer crashing iTunes

I added some videos to my iTunes library today, and I tried to sync my iPod. When I connect it, I get the "Updating iPod, do not disconnect" message, but it doesn't say exactly what it's transferring. After a little while, I get the notification that iTunes is crashing and the option to send an error report.
I updated iTunes to 6.0.3 earlier today, and updated my iPod to see if that would fix anything. When it didn't, I checked to see if there was something wrong with any of the videos. I tried deleting the videos, until iTunes crashed again. Whenever I try to delete, or play, or right-click this video, it crashes. I thought that maybe there was a problem with a video, so deleting it through Windows Explorer might have some effect, so I went to where it would be stored, and . . . it wasn't there.
I know that a file being listed in the library but not actually stored in Windows would normally just result in the exclamation-point-in-a-circle icon, but could this be what's causing iTunes to crash? Is there a way to delete something from the iTunes library without actually going through iTunes?

Okay, I managed to fix it after uninstalling iTunes and installing an old version . . . but of course, after I had everything up and working again, I ended up causing it to happen again. The upside of that is that I now know how it happened and an easier way to fix it.
The corruption of the file occured when trying to type in an artist on a file whose tag I had modified with iPod TVShow . . . it said "Editting tag", then crashed for the first time, and crashed again whenever I tried to edit that. Though, I found that that can be fixed just by deleting the movie file first through Windows Explorer, and then through iTunes (I didn't see it in Windows Explorer originally because I didn't realize that the re-labeling of the artist never went through, so I looked in the wrong folder, and I wasn't able to use Show Song File in order to see where it was, what with the constant crashing). Hopefully that'll help if anybody else ends up with the same problem.

  • New HP Windows 7- while clicking document file, message says "Windows has stopped" & it closes????

I recently transferred documents from XP through USB flash drive. Opened documentsand pictures windows simultaneously and moved some files. Now when I click on one to open or move, the message "Windows Explorer has stopped" & everything on desktop closes. What's happening?

Hi SyedAR, I am sorry to hear that you are getting this error on your computer. I would strongly suggest that you contact HP Total care at 1-800-474-6836 or at this link if the number is outside your calling area.  http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html      From what I can see from this error, you are going to need the recovery disks for the Windows operating system and you can get them from HP Total care.  They will also be able to walk your through repairing your computer once you have the disks.
    Thank you for your time.

  • IE11/Win 8.1 error 'Your client does not support opening this list in windows explorer'

I hoping someone might be able to help with this frustrating issue.
I work on a project where we are using various versions of on-line SharePoint (2007/O365).  In order to quickly drag and drop folders we need to often open the document libraries by using the 'open in windows explorer view'.
Using the same device, on occassion this works.  But often it gives a rather unhelpful message 'Your client does not support opening this list in Windows Explorer'.
I've searched for this issue over the net and confirm that the sites are added to the 'trusted' sites area and that the 'remember you credientials' is checked on logging in.However, the searches do not seem to apply to IE11/Win8.1 or on-line version of sharepoint
(the suggested hot fix is not suitable)
Only this morning, using the same device I was able, for a short while to open in explorer view, and then for no apparent reason, it began to display the error message.  I had changed nothing regarding settings or even closed the browser.
Do you have any support/ideas/fixes on how to resolve this.
    Many thanks
    val

    Hi Val,
sometimes an answer can be found on the internet by typing the error message from your computer into your favourite search engine.
    eg.
    http://www.bing.com/search?q=your+client+does+not+support+opening+this+list+in+windows+explorer&form=IE10TR&src=IE10TR&pc=HPNTDFJS
    see
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/asiasupp/archive/2011/06/13/error-message-quot-your-client-does-not-support-opening-this-list-with-windows-explorer-quot-when-you-try-to-quot-open-with-explorer-quot-on-a-sharepoint-document-library-in-office-365-site.aspx
follow the directions given above.... you need to add the domains to your Intranet sites list, not the Trusted sites list.
Perhaps you already have it mapped to your intranet zone....in which case make sure that you have unchecked "Enable Enhance Protected Mode" on the Intranet  zone dialog in Internet Options.
If this is happening 'randomly' on client machines, then users are probably changing their internet security settings in Internet Options. Ensure they are accepting the default.... Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default".
Consult with your system administrators to find out if they are applying a custom security template for the Intranet zone... It may be removing the sharepoint domains from the client Intranet zone's domains lists.
    HTH.
