Transferring music and apps from laptop

how do i transfer purchased applications and music to my iphone4s

Do you mean transfer from your computer or from another phone?  You can't do direct phone-phone transfer of apps and media.

I am trying to transfer my music and apps from my iPod Touch to my laptop computer's itunes library so that I can update the IOS.  I have tried "Transfer Purchases from iPod Touch under File/Devices and nothing seems to happen.  The itunes library on my laptop is still empty and everything is still on my ipod Touch.  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or how I can make this happen so I don't lose it all?

  • Transfering music and apps from my old phone too my Mac

i bought my iphone last year its the 3g. i have an apple account which i use on both my Mac and iphone. but the problem is im getting a new iphone the 3Gs and i don't know how to get my apps and music thats on my phone to my Mac. my iphone is currently sinked to another computer.
but i want to sink my new phone to my Mac. how do i get all my apps and music from my old phone, that is from the same account, on my Mac and new phone?
    Thanks
    Jenna

Sync to the old computer, and to be safe select iTunes > File menu > Transfer Purchases From so all the content is in the old iTunes library. Then, move the iTunes library from the old computer to the new computer - you'll need something +other than the iPhone+ for that (external HDD, flash drive, burn DVDs, etc.). Authorize the new computer in iTunes and sign into your account. Also, move your iPhone backup to the new computer. It's located:
    On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    On Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    On Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Copy it to the correct location for the Mac. If the MobileSync/Backup folder does not exist, create it.
When you sync the new phone to the new computer, you will be prompted to set up that phone using the backup of the previous phone, and all your content and settings (except WiFi passwords for security reasons) will be transferred.

  • How do I transfer my music and apps from my ipod touch 4g to a new computer?

The hard drive on my old computer failed so I no longer have access to my itunes library that was saved onto that computer. Is there anyway I can transfer my music and apps to my new computer? I would prefer not using one of those shady online tools... I don't want to lose any of my music or apps since I have some paid ones on there. I'm afraid that if I connect it to the new computer then everything will be lost. If that happens the I'll never be able to get any of my music and apps back (or at least it'll be real difficult). Can anyone please please please help me?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like discusssed here:
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
    - Try to make a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup
    - Restore the iPod from backup and sync as necessary.

  • Is there a way to transfer all the music and apps from an iphone to a computer with a new hard drive

I've had a new hard drive fitted in my laptop and i wanted to know if there is a way that i could tranfer my music and app from my iphone to itunes on the computer?

Yes, the Mac can read NTFS drives, but not write to them.
If you have the drive formatted FAT or exFAt then the Mac can read and write to it. But before formatting, remove the data as it's erased, and format it on the PC as it's easier. Right click on Windows and Format.
    Drives, partitions, formatting w/Mac's + PC's
Moving your personal data via the external drive is likley the best option, there are other methods like Migration, but they are problematic and take a long time, a drive is simple, fast and direct.

hi i just buy a macbook how can i transfer all my musics and apps from my iphone to my new itune?

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

This is one of the most basic of functions of the iPhone.  This is a good time for you to read the User Guide.  All the instructions on how to operate yor phone are included.  I suggest you read through it.

If you sign in to your Apple ID then your apps will be visible by clicking the "purchased" tab at the bottom of the screen.
Music you've purchased from Apple will appear automatically if you sign in to your account. Other music you'll need to download from your PC assuming you're not subscribed to iTunes Match.

For the items you mention you sync them both to the same iTunes library which acts as master archive and source for all your mobile devices.

  • Transfering music and apps

My son has left home, and he always down loaded his music and apps from my Itunes account, he now has his own Itunes account, is there anyway I can move the music and apps to his account, or can his keep the music and apps on his phone/Ipad even if he has a new account ?
    Manic thanks

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot transfer purchases from one account to another. You will find that his music and apps stay on his phone, and will likely continue to work, however he will be unable to update his apps and if he restores his phone, he will lose them.

  • How do I use home sharing for music and apps from different devices that already have Apple IDs?  We have music from CDs and iTunes.

We have a iPhone 3G used as an touch, a 4S and 2 5s that I would like to share the music and possibly the pictures but i dont know how to set it up since we all have our own Apple IDs.  Please help.

Do you have a computer. You can't share music or apps from one mobile device to another. To share photos you need to use photo stream shared albums.

  • How can I transfer music and apps from 1 ipod to another?

My computer crashed and my 2 sons got new ipod toches 4th gen and all of their music and apps were on that computer. Is there anyway to transfer contents from their old ipod to their new one?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
