Transferring music from 2 different computers...

i recently uploaded my songs to my ipod using a friends computer and now i'm trying to upload some more of my music (recorded as files on cdrs) using another friends computer, but it's asking me if i want to replace all the music currently on my ipod with the new music in itunes. how do i get my recent music on without deleting all of my current music? help would be awesome...

computer 1: restored ipod and uploaded music from itunes.
few days later...
computer 2: trying to upload music from itunes but it says that my ipod is connected to another itunes and asks if i want to replace the music on my ipod with the music in itunes thus deleting all the music on my ipod.
Question: how do i get more music on my ipod without deleting what's already on there?
(the first post was a bit confusing, sorry)

  • Transferring music through to different computers

We just got a new PC for the house, and I want to transfer the music I have on my itunes from the old computer (since there are about 300 songs, a third or so of which I bought from the Music Store) to the new one. I tried uploading and transferring songs through blank disks but it takes pretty close to forever and all of the information about the song gets lost. Is there any other way to do this?
I'm not sure if this was put in the right forum. If you can help, thanks.

I enabled my iPod for disk use and selected the "manage playlists" option and removed nearly all my music, because I was using 17GB of my 27 available. Then I consolidated my library, copied it to the iPod and then copied it from the iPod to the new computer. The steps are laid out here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt14.html
I found the video to be confusing. I suggest clicking the link reading "learn more" and follow those steps. The only steps they don't indicate are that you need to be running the same version of iTunes on each machine and that after you copy your iTunes library to the new PC, you'll need to authorize that computer manually. You may have a total of five (5) PC's authorized at any one time. Without authorizing the new PC, you won't be able to play your purchased music, videos, movies or audio books. So far so good!

transferring music from itunes on to a different iphone, why doesn't it work?

Perhaps you can provide some additional details as to your issue then you'll get some helpful responses.
I sync music from iTunes on my PC to multiple iPhones/iPod/iPad without issue. What are you trying to do exactly?

  • Sorting Music from 2 different Itune accounts in 1 Library??

I have music from 2 different i-tunes accounts co-mingled in one library on one of my laptops - I'm not exactly sure how that happened - maybe trying to synch the wrong ipod to the wrong computer? Is there easy way to sort a library by user-account name so I can delete the tracks the computer is not authorized to play? It's tedious to go through the library album-by-album/song-by-song and delete them individually. Thanks!!

My mac mini has more music on than will fit onto my macbook, I do loads of audio editing for post production and have a big part of my sound library on there. And yes, I know the other solution would be to put all of my music on the mac mini, but that's at my office so then I can't use the iPhone with the macbook at home.  And, I don't want to have to take one of my computers to work or vice-versa just to solve this problem.  Anyway, the question is not 'how do I get the music onto my iPhone'.  I just wanted to know if there was any way I could use my iPhone with both of my macs but it seems the answer is no.  As I said, I'll be returning to an android phone as soon as someone buys this crappy iPhone 5c on ebay and then I won't have the problem anymore
As for anti-piracy?????  It is so ridiculously easy to pirate music despite this bizarre system where you can't use 3 bits of technology made by the same company, together?  I would have thought it's more to do with encouraging people to buy their music from the iTunes store rather than other sources.  Maybe I'm just a cynic.....
Have you considered an external hard drive?  Also, if you don't like the Apple procedure, then tell Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Transferring music from iphone to pc

Purchased/Downloaded music from itunes to iphone - how can I sync / upload music to PC to back up?

Saw your post about transferring music from iPhone. I guess I am a total dweeb; I cannot understand Apple's instructions.
I have two identical PCs. Have same version of iTunes on each. iPhone 3GS with 4.01 OS. I cannot figure out how to transfer the 5400 songs on my iPhone into my iTunes library without erasing the 2500 songs (different titles which came from a Dead Dell) that are already there. Any advice would be super appreciated.

  • TRANSFERRING MUSIC FROM IPOP TO PC

I had a hard drive crash and I lost all my dowloaded music from I Tunes library. I am trying to determine if there is a way to transfer my music collection from my nano to my new pc (Inspiron 531 deskstop). I shudder at the thought of re-loading 75 CD's individually back onto my pc as I really don't want to try that. Please help! Thanks! Gary

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Transfering music from Nano to Classic

Hi Friends. I bought a 120 GB Classic today and *am wondering if I can transfer my existing music from my 4 GB Nano to the Classic?*
I hope so! I'll be crushed if it can't be done.
Also, *does my Classic have to be 100% charged before I can transfer tunes to it?*
    Please help, thank you!

Hi Friends. I bought a 120 GB Classic today and am wondering if I can transfer my existing music from my 4 GB Nano to the Classic?
You can't transfer directly from one iPod to another. The music must be in iTunes to transfer to an iPod, and from your post it seems as though it isn't. Very bad idea!! Anyway, to get the music from your nano back to the computer/iTunes, read on.

Not necessarily, but it would help since transferring data to an iPod can put a huge drain on the battery.

  • Problem transfering music from itunes to iphone

Hi! Wondering if you could help: I can play in Itunes the music I download. But when i decide to transfer these songs from Itunes to my Iphone 4 by draging it, like I always did before, it doesn't work. By the way I just bought a new laptop and downloaded Itunes on it. Can someone tell me what could be the problem?

hi, your message is kind of old and you've probably already figured out how to transfer the music. i just read some of the replies to you and see that no one mentions the "Autofill" option so i wanted to let you know--just in case it might help you to do things a bit less complicated. i had the same problem with the new version of iTunes (11.0) and discovered the best way to transfer your music is to add it to your iTunes library like you usually do and click on the "Autofill" button at the bottom so the music is transferred without problems. You still won't get to keep your playlists (I know right? ******* genius whoever came up with this brilliant idea...) and you must make sure you're "auto-filling" the music from the recently added list, otherwise it will just transfer music from a different location.
i hope this helps! you can email me or PM me if you've got any other questions!

    THANKS for any suggestions.

    You can't.

You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.

  • Downloading songs from two different computers, and not recognizing songs

On my home computer, I downloaded about 40 songs onto my IPod from CDs. Then, I installed the program on my work computer, and purchased four songs from ITunes. When I plug my IPod into my work computer, it is not recognizing the songs I downloaded from my home computer. However, if I plug my IPod into my work computer, I can listen to these four purchased songs, but once I try to listen to them without having it plugged into my work computer, only the songs I downloaded from home are on the IPod.
Has this happened to anyone else who has tried to put songs from two different computers onto their IPod?

Just to elaborate a bit, you need to copy the purchased files and put them on your home computer.
Don't burn them as an audio CD as you will lose quality when you re-import them.
You can use the Shuffle (instead of a CD) to do this
