Transferring music from Ipod touch to new computer

I bought a new computer, downloaded iTunes 10.63, and want to transfer music to that library from my iPod touch. Every time I try to sync the files to the new computer it tries to erase the music I have on there already. Is it even possible to do this or will I just have to load all the music I had on there and allow iTunes to erase the data in the current library?

The right way to transfer your iTunes Library is from the old computer to the new one. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
If you purchased music from the iTunes Store, no worries, you can simply download it again with the one caveat that the music is still available in the Store.
For music purchased or obtained from sources other than the iTunes Store, you must obtain it from those sources again. Music is intended to go from your computer to the iPod. Going the other way is contrary to the design and requires the assistance of third party utilities.

That is true. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The exception is itunes purchased music. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You should really move everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one.

I have contacted apple and they have sent me information, but you need to make adjustments on the old computer (which no longer exists)to transfer the files. OK, I had to restore my laptop to factory-settings, and so lost all my music in iTunes. Still have my music on my iPod, but obviously can't syncronise it as I'd lose all the music on there.
I have tried a couple of software packages (ipod2computer & Tune Tools), but neither of them seem to work (one keeps asking me to put in my credit card details again and the other just hangs or saying it hs updating data, but after a few hours nothing happens). Really looking for help or recommendations in transfering music files from my ipod or software that can enable this.

My old computer went dead so I had to buy a new one. I didn't have backup for my music library, basicly all the songs are only stored now on my iPod Nano and nowhere else. Is there a way in which I could transfer my music from my iPod Nano to the iTunes library of my new computer?

If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. For purchased songs you can plug the iPod into you new computer and use the "File > Transfer Purchases from iPod" feature in iTunes. For music not purchased from the iTunes store you will need a third party program to help. There are a few of them out there, and they are easy to find on Google.

Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.

Probably this problem got solved already in the past but I could not find help till now. I still use my iPod 30gb Classic from 2005 but the computer with which I made the syncs is broken and I got myself a new one. I wanted to save the music files from iPod to the new computer with iTunes so that I have another backup if this iPod should get broke in the future. But I could not backup the music files, somehow. How it was originally designed by Apple is you store your music in iTunes on a Mac or a PC. you back up your computer. you add to your library through the computer. you then sync to ipod classic. it was never intended to move music back the other way unless you purchased the music from iTunes store.
If your compuetr breaks you restore iTunes library from computer backup.
in many cases music is reduced in size and quality to 128kbps on sync so backwards sync would lose library quality.
finally, it avoids people illegally sharing music, or stealing music from lost or stolen ipods.
to backwards sync you will need to either get into the risky business of third party software, or find a PC running Linux and Rhythmbox and ask again. I probably said too much.

My old computer is fading fast and I want to save my music. Is there a way to download music from my Ipod onto my new computer? I don't want to take the time to copy library to discs and reinstall. Any suggestions?

I want to get all my music from my ipod onto my new computer, how do i go about doing this? I have downloaded itunes onto the new computer, switched on home sharing. I dont understand how to go about it? grateful for any help

Make sure that autosync is disabled in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, set up your account, connect your iPod and right click on it in the device list. Choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought music from iTunes to your new iTunes library.
If you want to use this computer to sync your device, right lick again in the device list and choose "backup"
This will perform a manual backup without the sync process. Set up at least one contact and event on your computer, to be able to merge data after your device got erased during the first sync.
Use the manual backup to restore your data and settings again.

My school district installed new computers. The IT told us that our iTunes would not be effected. When I went into iTunes on my new computer, there was nothing there. Obviously I can't plug in my iPod or everything would be erased. They said that there is nothing they can do about this.
How do I move my music from this iPod to this new computer that will not recognize my last iTunes account? It appears that it was wiped out. I have close to 400 songs that I use for daily classes. The os is now Windows 7. The old one was Vista.
