Transferring music from old iPod to new Apple ID

I recently purchased my 1st iPhone and changed my Apple ID when I did.  I just tried logging into my iTunes on my PC for the 1st time since and my music from my iPod is no longer there.  When I connect my iPod to the computer, I can see the music under the iPod and "On this iPod".  How do I transfer the music to my music in iTunes so that I can transfer it to my iPhone?
Thanks in advance for your help!

your AppleID is like your SSI# you cannot transfer infromation from one to the other. what ever you purchased under the old AppleID is linked to that ID only.

    Hello try again
All your media should be in iTunes so you can sync using iTunes to get the music over. If you have any purchases from the iTunes Store you may transfer them to your iTunes library.

  • How to get music from old ipod to new computer

I have an old iPod nano and I want to get the music to my new computer (iTunes).
How do I transfer it without losing the music? All the music in the iPod used to be stored in my old computer/itunes, which not longer exists.

    Hi rominabate,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to move your music from your iPod to your new computer. The article linked below provides several options for recovering music from your devices and backups, like transferring music that was purchased from the iTunes Store on your iPod to your computer.

First of all, put the music from the old iPod back to your new computer (and then into iTunes).
try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Once the music is safely in your new iTunes library, you can transfer it to the new iPod.

  • Music from OLD ipod on NEW computer

Ok, this is wierd so I'll try to be as descriptive as possible:
    1) I have an iPod mini
    2) I have all my music on a desktop PC
    3) Last week I hooked up my mini to my new laptop to charge the mini
    4) All my music now shows on my LAPTOP. Not just the music that is on the mini, but ALL of the music from my desktop
    5) Ok, it's not really the files, but tags or placeholders for the music. In other words I can't copy the music to my new Nano.
    6) How do I get rid of that? I would think itunes on my laptop would have an empty music library.
    Thanks.

Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
    MacMuse: Computer crashed
    Hope this helps.

  • Transfer Music from old ipod til new iphone

    Hi’
I bought a iPhone 4, but how do I get my music from my old ipod to the new iphone.
BTW. The old ipod is on one computer and my new iphone 4 is on another computer.
    Anyone that can help?

Here is one way which will also transfer playcount, playlists, etc. Do it this way and your iTunes library will be identical on both computers.

  • HT1414 Transfering games from old ipod to new one.

I just go a new IPOD 6.1.3 and have been trying to transfer games from my very old IPOD 4.2.1. I backed up my old ipod to my itunes account and then did a restore on my new ipod.  I also tried resetting my new ipod and just individually transfering the games over. The games will transfer but the data doesn't.  When I click on the games on my new IPOD it's as if I've never played them before.  What am I doing wrong?

You have to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod. If you restore via iTunes all the apps have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup.

  • Transfer music from old iPod to new iMac

Have a 30G iPod that was synced with old computer that crashed. Bought new iMac and want to transfer music from iPod to new iMac. Tech Support not able to help. Any LEGAL ideas?

With a nod to veteran poster Zevoneer...here's what you should know.
The transfer of content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, but there are third-party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. Some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Check out the web pages for more info. This is just a sample of what's available.
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
    Senuti Mac
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. That process is detailed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329?viewlocale=en_US

  • Transfer music from old ipod to new ipod...for free?

My husband dropped his ipod touch and it got run over. He has a new ipod touch but we can't figure out how to transfer his music from his old ipod to his new one. There's 800 songs on his old one. For some reason, the old ipod syncs photos into itunes but not songs? We've already spent enough money one the ipods and music...I don't  really want to pay for all the software stuff to do it. Is it really that difficult? We were hoping we could just plug both ipods into the laptop and drag and drop in iTunes...but apparently that's not possible either. Help?!

All music that was on the iPod Touch should be your iTunes library on your computer. If Sync Music was selected under the Music tab for the iPod Touch sync preferences with iTunes, any music purchased from the iTunes store direct with the iPod Touch would have been copied to the iTunes library automatically with the first sync with iTunes after doing so. iTunes also includes an option for any music downloaded direct with the iPod Touch will be downloaded automatically by iTunes on your computer.
Photos on your computer can be transferred to an iOS device via the iTunes sync/transfer process but photos are not stored by iTunes.

  • Having trouble transferring music from old PowerBook to new iMac

I'm having trouble transferring my iTunes music from my old PowerBook to my new iMac.  Trying to follow the online instructions by using an external hard drive to transfer from one to another.

    Hi Skingz,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Is the external hard drive that you are working with formatted for Mac OS Extended Journaled?   Is there enough space on it?
The process is the same regardless of the operating system you are using:
OS X Mountain Lion: View information about your disk
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11086
Formatting erases the contents of the external drive so be cautious.  Also this process is for any application, not just Aperture:
Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture

Try the steps in the article again.
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
If you are still not able to copy the library to your new computer this way, then the alternative approach would be to copy the music folder from your old computer to the external drive, and then add the music folder to your new, empty iTunes library on the iMac.   You'll have to recreate your playlists, etc, but at least you will have the music.

  • Transferring music from old PC to new mac

    Hey guys,
I recently sold my alienware to buy the new macbook pro. That being said, I never had both computers ar the same time - I sold one, then bought the other like a week after. Now, as I try to transfer all my iPhone's data into my new macbook, It seems that the only option for my music is to erase it. This has struck me as an enormous inconvenience; Is there a way-simply put-to plug in my iPhone to my new mac and transfer all its music to the mac's library?
    Thanks in advance,
    Omarjr50

    Welcome to the discussions,
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your iphone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought music from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your iphone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
