Transferring music from Windows PC to a new Imac

Hi, I was wondering if someone could tell me how I could get all my music from my current windows pc to my new imac. Will I be able to burn it all onto cds and copy it across?

Have you selected manually manage music?

  • How do I transfer the music from my iPod to my new IMac computer (95% of the music on it is from CD's I own)?

How do I transfer the music from my IPod to my new IMac computer?  I just changed from a PC to IMac. 95% of the music on it is from CD's I own and the ITunes on the new IMac is only recongnizing the ones I bought off of ITunes.

That is correct.  The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Problem arose when transfered music from desktop to ipod to new laptop

Please can someone help with my itunes library, this all began when i purchased a new lap top and transfered music files onto my ipod from my old computer(which i have done before and had great succsess). Now the problem began when i synced my ipod to new computer when certain files doubled and some did not. This happened with certain copied and original c.d's but not others ???
Meanwhile somehow, how it happened i do not know when i connected my ipod to old itunes library i lost all of my original files and blanked out my ipod ???
So what i have now is some duplicate albums and 4442 songs when there should be about 3100, how do i rid myself of these duplicates without doing it manually.
My computer knowledge is somewhat limited so please could i have a response in laymans terms thanx.
Also i can not seem to find my itunes folder which contains 20gb of stuff on my computer only a small portion of it is visible, and another thing as i have lost my old itunes file i suppose i have lost my playlists for good ?
Thank you for any help submitted.

  • Transferring music from windows to mac HELP!

Helping my Mom "swithch" but I am having a little problem moving her purchased music to the new imac. I have transferred all the files and they transferred perfect, but I do not have access to play them, and all 5 machines have been authorized already. Is there a way to move them to the new imac?

i suppose you might try to get your mom to call or email itunes and through a fit about how their silly 5-computer limit thing has blocked you, and they might give you another. there are also sites out there that tell you how to go through a laborious process (there are no simple programs) to illegally break the protection, but you have to download all sorts of programs and then burn the songs to cds, delete them, rerip them and stuff. if you want to try that, id suggest googling "convert mpeg4 audio files protected" (without the quotes in the search) or something like that. hope that helps. or maybe download one of the illegal ipod-to-computer programs like yamipod (which you can also google) and then move the files onto the ipod and from the ipod straight to your mom's itunes program, but i doubt that'd work. I think you either have to get to some relatively high-up itunes official type, repurchase the music, or go through a laborious illegal process.

  • Transferring music from an Pod to a new mac

    Hi,
I have deauthorised my old computer and all of my itunes purchased songs have appeared in my library on the new computer which is grand.
However, my cd music from the old computer won't transfer via the iPod to the new computer, - is there a way to do this???
I havn't synced the new computer with the iPod except manually , and all new purchases have to be manually transferred into the iPod (which dosn't bother me too much) - the reason I'm doing it manually is becuase iTunes wants to wipe the iPod and put only the current iTunes library on the new computer onto the iPod.
    thanks

  • Transfering music from my ipod to my new computer

I have a new computer. I gave my old one to my grandson. I deleted everything from the old computer including my itunes. I tried to transfer the music from my ipod onto itunes in my new computer, but it won't transfer unless the music is from the itunes store. Most of my music is from cd's. If I try to sync it will delete everything from my ipod. It shouldn't be this difficult. How do I transfer my music into itunes?

I have to admit I've never actually tried it, but I think it can be done. If you go into Preferences and click the devices tab, there's an option to prevent devices from syncing automatically. If you check that before connecting your ipod, it won't delete the files. Then when you connect your ipod, select the option to enable the disk as a hard drive. After that, you should probably be able to access the ipod through my computer and copy the files over to your computer.

  • Transfering music from an old ipod to new computer

I have the guide that was provided on the site on how to transfer music from an older iPod that contains the high capacity drive. My only problem is that I dont have the old computer that is synced to this ipod.
basically I found this old ipod of mine from 4 years ago and it has a bunch of my old music on it. My old computer crashed and will no longer turn on so we got rid of it and bought a new one. My wife and I since then have both bought the new iphones and have created a whole new itunes libary. I figured all of these old songs were lost until last night when i found this ipod with all the music still on it. I want to put it on my new computer but when I plug it in and open itunes it say's it will erase my old songs and replace with my new ones.
Can I transfer this music any way onto my new computer?

Either buy a 3rd-party ipod manager program, start your research here on page 3

Or go back to page 1 of the iLounge article and do it the hard way.

Is there a way to transfer music from my iPod mini to my new macbook?
My old powerbook died, so I do not have access to it. I thought that I had backed up all my music, but I did not. I have searched through tech support articles on apple's site and haven't found anything of use yet.
Thanks so much for any assistance you all can provide.

how do i get my files from laptop to my new imac?

You can use Migration Assistant or Manually move files using an External Hard Drive.
see > Switch Basics: Migrate your Windows files or system to your Mac
You can also use your home network to share files with the new iMac.

  • How do I get my music from my ipod onto my new imac

I have an ipod mini and just bought a new imac. When I plug the ipod in it says it is already sync'd to one library and I cannot sync it to another. I am clueless about how to get my music onto my computer...lol. This is probably complicated by the fact that I've never had a mac before. I also bought a new nano so once I get my music onto the mac I want to get it onto the new nano. Maybe I am doing this all bassackwards?
Appreciate any help you can give!

  • Transferring Email from Outlook 2007 to a new iMac running Leopard

I previously decided to make the jump from Windows Vista Ultimate to a new iMac several months ago and was just waiting for the release of Leopard. It was my understanding that the transfer would be seamless. But I recently read an article by Walt Mossberg that appeared to indicate that you cannot transfer email files from Outlook 2007 to the iMac's email program. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I need to have all of my old email folders. I DO NOT want to have to buy and install a Microsoft operating system to make this work either. This is a deal killer for me if I cannot have my old emails available.
