What are my options for transferring music from an external HDD or iPod Touch to my daughter's Sansa?What is the best way to delete all 53 songs currently on her device?

If she doesn't use protected files, then set the USB mode on the player to MSC. if she uses protected files, then set it to MTP(Settings, system settings, USB mode). you could format the player using the player menu to delete all songs on the player(settings, system settings, >FORMAT). To transfer files to the player, I suggest you use Windows Explorer copy and paste if the files aren't protected. For protected files, you need to use Windows Media Player(or another media player that will transfer the licenses) so that the licenses are properly transferred. Which Clip player does she have? The original Clip, or the Clip+? The Clip+ has a card slot.

Transfering Music from the ipod to the computer

Hello all I am new in this, i just get my first ipod this week, is a 30Gb Video. i want to know how can i transfer the music that i have in the ipod to my computer, to burn it in CDS or something.

There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods will depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
I can't vouch that any of them will work with iTunes version 7.

To create a Playlist, select Menu > Music > Music Player > Playlists > Options > Create Playlist. Name the playlist & add songs to the playlist.

how do I tranfer music to an sd card in mpr format in only seems to let me save in xml format and my in car mp3 can not read it can you help

The export function in itunes only exports a text file of the music titles you have in your library.
If you want to put the actual music files onto your sd card, you will need to drag and drop the music from the itunes library window to any location you want.
The drag and drop does not remove the song from the library, just copies it.
Then you can move the music files onto your sd card.
Now if the music in your itunes library is purchased from the itunes music store, it will not be in the mp3 format. Also, unless the music is itunes+, you cannot convert to mp3.

Transferring music on the ipod back to a Mac

I am using a Shuffle and love it. I have all my data on my IBM PC and now am using a G4. I really want to just download my shuffle playlist into the established iTunes on the Mac but it doesn't seem quite as easy as plug and play. Any suggestions for transferring ipod to MAC???

You can't trasnfer music using an iPod Shuffle since it is linked to ONLY one library, however you can transfer the files in Disk mode, set your iPod to Disk mode and asign the whole space for data (Itunes preferences/iPod)
So you can transfer (and no listening in iPod) the files from the PC to the G4, after all your music is on the G4, add it to iTunes and now you can asign more space for music on iPod preferences.

Zen micro 6gb trouble with transfering music to the player pls h

I bought on ebay. It's used i download the cd installation. Tried to transfer with media explorer and windows media player, it wont work. The player seems "locked" when ever its connected it wont show the music inside of it, just displays the folders. I cant create, delete, add music whatsoever it keeps saying i/o error folder is exited or removed, and when i try to transfer it says pending for a long time and failed right after. Pls if any can help it would be really appreciated. thx in advance.

Can you flash it with firmware / have you tried that?If a firmware flash works, then try formatting the player. There's plenty of posts about how to do both of these tasks.When that's done, try loading some music. If it still give problems, something serious is wrong. Don't want to sound pesimistic but if it's used and you got it on E-Bay, you could have bought a dud. I've never usedEBay before so forgive me when I ask if you have any sort of comeback - e.g 4 day return period or something. Best of luck

The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your OWN computer and a different iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

How do i get my itunes back after transferring music to the itunes library?

After my computer had a virus, I still had all my songs, applications, and podcast on the iPod. The problem is that I wanted to transfer the songs to the itunes library, but only the songs that I purchased are left ( everything else is gone). How do I get them back?

It is impossible but if you have the CDs reload them on your computer. Purchased songs have to be repurchased

iTunes is creating too many folders in my PC. How can I setup iTunes to save the songs by GENRE ONLY regardless of the album, the artist or the song title?

You cannot change the file structure that iTunes creates.
You can import with something else that does what you want then update the folder by having iTunes import it again. Be sure to uncheck "organize" in preferences or you will truly not be enjoying things

Transfering music from my iPod to my itunes on a new computer

a few days ago, the power surged and destroyed my computer, and I just got a new one. Today I installed iTunes to my new computer, and when I went to transfer the music from my iPod to my new computer, I discovered that I couldn't do this. I checked the support section of iTunes for help, and only found information on transfering music while the old computer is still accessable. Since my old computer is dead, I can't access it to follow any of the steps of the guide, or disconnect my iPod from the iTunes on my old computer. Does anyone know how I can sync my iPod with my new computer and sync the songs from my iPod onto my new computer (rather than erase all my songs which appears to be just about the only option my iTunes is offering right now)?

If you click "erase & sync" if prompted, yes.
And also, do I need to go to my frineds house with my computer to transfer the non-purchased stuff?

Your account names are probably different on the two Macs. If you know the UNIX command line, open a terminal window and run:
$ id
You should see a line that starts with something like this:
uid=501(your_user_id_here)
now check the owner of the folder you copied over:
$ ls -ld Music
drwx------+ 8 some_user_id_here staff 272 May 14 16:08 Music
Do the IDs match? If not, you could change the ownership. Say your id is "johnsmith"
$ chown -R johnsmith Music
Now try and access it with iTunes.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". Just to clarify: I purchased some of my older music in iTunes with an account that got deleted. I cannot recover or use this old account.
